Does being fat determine your personality?
i find with myself it was always more of a self esteem issue.. but then again i had low self esteem from the kids at school always making fun of me... So i do feel this has held me back from doing a lot... Like i always wanted to go join the soccer team... but i was to afraid to be laughed at... I wanted to try out for the play but was afraid of what people would think of me... So ya i guess being "fat" holds you back if you have low self esteem... Even my family would always say your never going to get a job, boyfriend. etc if you don't lose weight .. and my mom constantly put me on diets since the age of like 8.. This all has an effect on our personality and Self esteem.... There is so much that can be said about fat discrimination... I mean im fat (and im working on that) but that doesn't mean i am stupid (im running for valedictorian at my school with a 4.0 g.p.a) ... I'm not lazy (i work 56hrs a week and the rest of the time i either spend doing chores/ running errands or studying for my exam in October) i mean sometimes i feel a little lazy and want to sit down and veg out on the couch but so do skinny people... People Stereotype "fat" people just like there is stereotypes for religion or ethnic background etc. I wish this is something that can be stooped but people are going to think what they want to think.:cry

HELP! 16th day with pain
When i first got banded i must say that it was really bad. At the hospital, the next day i was able to have some juice and half melted sugar free ice cream. and broth ( a spoonful of each). They sent me home thinking i was fine and dandy and i went home... At first i was ok but i took some pain medication (hydrocodone) and i started feeling nauseous and then i was throwing up like everything (which there wasnt much to throw up in the first place) i couldn't even keep down Water. so back to the hospital i went, they took x-rays put in an iv (which was almost impossible because i was so dehydrated my veins kept collapsing) and called my surgeon and i was ordered to stay another night. So i felt a little better the next morning but very nauseated, so they kept me another night making sure i could keep liquids down. So they next day they sent me home with a RX for nausea went home felt fine and then that same night i couldn't keep liquids down (and on top of that i had diarrhea)... this was march 19 and 4 days later and i was not keeping anything down when i went home.. So we called Dr. Shayani concerned and he asked me a couple questions and he said i had to go see him the next morning . When i went to see him i was 5 days post op and i had lost 11lbs... we finally figured out that my stomach just couldn't handle the medications and thats what was making me so sick and the diarrhea turned out to be a infection called C. Difficle which you basically from antibiotics... So not only was i unable to take pain medicine but i also got a nasty pill for the infection which i wouldn't recommend crushed but had no choice... But eventually i got better... I was in pain for like 3 weeks post-op (b/c i was w/o pain medicine)... Even through all that the whole time i never regretted having the surgery and i definitely think this is the best decision i have ever made in my entire life.:whoo: GOOD LUCK... Take things slowly and it will get better... Just remember this will improve your health.. Try to go to work when you can and if its too painful then wait a little longer... (sorry about the long novel)

Capsule medications
It really depends on the person.. my neighbor has a hard time with any gel pills.... i don't know about the gel pills for myself but i am currently on amoxicillan capsules and they don't bother me as long as i have something lit with it or right after... (like yogurt of something like that)

Just started on the road!
They want to make sure you are a ok to go for surgery, considering this is elective... also if you have any co-morbidities they can use this as convincing insurance to pay for the surgery (thats what they did with mine) The diet before surgery i found is to shrink your liver so its easier to lift it during surgery (funny my dr. didn't make me go on a diet beforehand) And you can definately take off the weight if you put your mind to it... Best of luck to you on your lap-band journey!!!! and if you have any questions we are all here for you anytime you need ... -Jeni

He is very encouraging :clap2: (he was so kind and caring when i first got out surgery and still is to this day with asking us to keep in touch with him through email and he emails you back within 48hrs lol) sorry got a bit off topic there..:omg:

Ok, im still fairly early in my Band Journey (1/3 way to goal) but have already noticed lots of improvements: 1.)More Energy!!! 2.)More Confident!! 3.)The other day i went walking downstairs in my house in my black capris and guess what.... THEY FELL OFF!!!!!. instead of being embarressed i was excited ... i retired those capris officially. 4.)When my mom bought me a 2x and i tried it on and it was tooo big!!!:biggrin1: 5.) Went to lane Bryant yesterday and grab my old sizes there (completely wasn't thinking) and ended up skipping out of the dressing room to get a smaller size!!! Went from size 24/26 tops to 18/20 :whoo: 6.) Looking forward to stepping on the scale... (i actually have to force myself to stay off it and limit myself to one time a week) 7.) Not being afraid of my doctor being disappointed about me gaining weight... 8.) Going to the doctor and showing her what a success this surgery has been so far (she was completely against me having surgery!! luckily my surgeon ignored her and let me have the surgery anyway!!!):heh: 9.) Got already to go to the gym yesterday left my house and was on my way there when i realized it was Saturday and they were closing in 10 min.... I was disappointed !!!! before lapband i would have never even joined a gym in the first place!!!!:cry 10.)Asthma has improved!!! 11.) Can walk up the stairs without almost passing out!!! 12.) Lost 45lbs!!!!! 13.)Went down in BMI oh ya and no longer considered morbidly obese... just obese not morbidly YAY!!! 14.)No longer desire POP or BREAD !!!! 15.) In control of what i eat. i no longer live to eat but i eat to live !!! :hungry: 16.)The compliments Absolutely love hearing them... Such a boost for the ego and confidence... :clap2: to be continued.....
