Just started on the road!

Hi everyone!

Well, I had my first appointment with my surgeon last Wed Aug. 8th. He told me I need to lose at least 30 pounds before I can have the surgery, my BMI was 66:cry! I asked to be put on a liquid diet. I met with the Nutritionist the next day and have been on 3 shakes a day for 5 days now! Its not as bad as I thought it would be, but then again its only been 5 days lol. He is booked though Sept, so I guess I am looking at a surgery date of Oct. I am so ready I am 5'2" 359 pounds. My body has had enough. I had my pulmonary, nutritionist and phys. appointments done. Next week I get my Endo, my Endoscope and the cardio and I will be done! then I get to make my next appt. for the surgeon and get on his calendar yahooo! I am hoping to lose 50 pounds by my surgery date. Do you think it can be done?

Thanks all for listening and would love to hear everyone's stories leading up to the LB!

Thanks

Ann

They want to make sure you are a ok to go for surgery, considering this is elective... also if you have any co-morbidities they can use this as convincing insurance to pay for the surgery (thats what they did with mine)

The diet before surgery i found is to shrink your liver so its easier to lift it during surgery (funny my dr. didn't make me go on a diet beforehand)

And you can definately take off the weight if you put your mind to it... Best of luck to you on your lap-band journey!!!!

and if you have any questions we are all here for you anytime you need ...
