Hi, I am so glad to see more people here who have had or are looking into ESG! I highly recommend it. I was looking into it for a while. What convinced me to go this route was the recent MERIT study published in The Lancet. Here's a decent summary of the findings: https://www.bariatricnews.net/post/merit-rct-endoscopic-sleeve-gastroplasty-is-safe-and-results-in-significant-weight-loss.
I had my ESG on October 7th and have lost 15 pounds as of today (10 days later). Like Forensikchic, I had very little pain. My procedure was at 10:30 am, was discharged and on my way home by 1:30 pm, and basically slept the rest of the day. The next day I had some gas and nausea, for which I had zofran (which made me throw up, so no more of that tyvm!). I slept in a recliner in an abundance of caution until the 3rd night, but I could have skipped that.
The procedure was Friday and I was back in the office on Monday, Day 3. Looking back, I had super low energy until I started Protein Shakes on Day 3. I was easily tired the entire first week, only short walks and light dumbbells / kettlebell lifts. But I was drastically better when I started the soft/puree stage (real food, bless!) on Day 7.
By yesterday, Day 9, I was able to walk briskly for over an hour. This morning, I did a 5K run/walk/run, which was great. I was also able to deadlift 5x3 sets at 95 lbs (a big de-load for me) without problems because there's no cutting with this procedure. Other than having to limit my caffeine intake (UGH!!), I consider myself back at 100% as of today, Day 10. Yay!
My doctor gave me a Post-Procedure Guidebook provided by the device manufacturer, but I could not find it on their website (apolloendo.com) to share. So here is a picture of the page with the summary of stages of food. See how easy?

In summary, yes -- I am super happy I chose ESG. My life is such that I could not have taken the time off necessary for surgery. It was either this or nothing. I am so glad I went forward with it.

    Hi Bebaeg,
Thank you so much for asking. I had my revision on May 9. I’ve lost 33-ish pounds. I get stuck in the middle of the next 10 pounds, so right now I’m fluctuating between 264 and 266. When I first stalled, I realized that I was severely constipated. I’m finding that that happens a lot. Unfortunately, the solution leads to the opposite problem of diarrhea. 🙄 I’m grateful for what I’ve lost, but it’s still frustrating.

Hi all. I used this forum for support during my VSG journey. It took me 13 months to get to goal. I was 234 and made it to 135 in 2012. I kept that off for the most part for about 7 years but slowly gained 10 pounds a year for the last few years. I weighed 177 when I had ESG revision two weeks ago tomorrow. I have lost to 169 so far. I want to be a part of this forum again. It helped me so much the first time. I only have 35 pounds to lose now. I hope to make it there by February. About 6 months. Who else has had this done? I am retaining Fluid because Im on full liquids and they are salty! I am struggling to get the Water in like usual but Im making a more concerted effort this time. Let me know if any one else has had this or is interested in it. Thanks guys!

I had a sleeve in 2011. I had an Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty revision two weeks ago because I gained 45 of the 100 I lost back and was struggling with my sleeve. It was stretched a bit and I was eating too many carbs. I had to do something. So far I am on full liquids and its going well. Its like a resleeve but they do it from the inside with sutures so Its not as invasive. Easy recovery. I had some gas pains but they were not that bad. By day three I was doing really good. I had it on a Thursday and went back to work Monday.

    Hi, I’ve been resleeved!

I had my first sleeve in the UK in 2018. First couple of months I lost weight dramatically but I was always hungry (from the second day post op!!!) to the point I felt sick, no matter how often I drank. I could also eat a lot more/not feel my restriction as quick as others seemed to despite how slow I ate. Needless to say I stabilised after just 6 months and then Covid hit and I started regaining when I wasn’t able to be as active/go to the gym.

I went to Turkey last year and got a resleeve. The surgeon said that the top of my sleeve was much bigger than it should have been, part may possibly have been from me restretching it but he said the top part was large and looked like not all of my hunger hormone producing part of the stomach had been removed. He removed all the excess including my hunger hormone and made my stomach nice and small again. Results have been amazing, I’m 8 months post op, still losing although obviously slowing as I approach goal weight and I can still only eat a few mouthfuls!!

My experience with my resleeve is very different, I got horrific gas pain post op for a start which I didn’t get the first time (but normal and not uncommon, just walk walk walk). If I eat too quickly I will vomit/get pain, again another normal side effect they tell you about but I didn’t experience any of it first time round. I’m so pleased I went for my resleeve even though I was worried about going abroad, it’s been the best decision I ever made! :-)

Thank you! Today has actually gone ok. I've slowed down my eating and actually felt the stomach restriction. You are so right about eating mindfully. I have made a point of slowing it down in order to give my body time to realize my stomach is full. Focusing on waiting between solids and liquids has slowed me down as well.

@ElseeGee181 I understand the struggle with pinpointing the core issues and triggers that caused me to emotionally eat. I chalked it up to boredom and just loving the way crappy food tasted. I went through months of self reflection and found so much insight from eating mindfully. Each time I impulsively ordered DoorDash or ate candy, I checked in with myself to find out what prompted the action and urge. I recommend looking into HALT self check. It stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. It was so helpful for me and at least gave me a starting point to work through the underlying issues.
    Good luck!

I agree with @GradyCat. You probably have not stretched your stomach out. Those calorie calculators are pretty much fiction. So much depends on your height, age, gender, activity level, weight, etc.
The first thing to do is track EVERYTHING you eat and drink, to see where you are. Talk to your nutritionist/dietician. Don't be embarrassed; this is incredibly common especially during COVID. They have seen this before, I guarantee it. Talk to them about how many calories you need to lose weight and what your macros should be. I was told not to do a Keto diet as the fat is too high. I currently try to reduce the amount of carbs I eat and make the carbs I do it complex carbs or fruit/veggies. For me, it's still hard to get much carbs in since I'm still trying to get enough Protein at 4 months out.
Don't try to be perfect: aim for 80% of your food being "healthy" with 20% "fun", or maybe 90-10 if that feels better. If you try to be 100% perfect, you will set yourself up for failure.
Good luck and keep us posted!

No, not at all. People think their stomach stretches, but it's not that easy for your pouch to stretch out according to my surgeon. I asked her after my 30 lb weight gain and had an endoscopy and she said my pouch was still good to go!

Don't be ashamed. We're human. And that's what we're here for to listen and support and encourage each other.
I did the exact same thing. I gained 30 lbs during COVID. Just got them off over the last 3 months. It IS possible to still lose after WLS and after a weight-gain. The tool still works, you just have to use it.
Go back to the basics of tracking every single thing you eat and drink. Get your 60g Protein, 64 oz Water daily. It'll come back off.
It won't be fast, but it'll be reliable. You can do it!

I am getting resleeve due to not loosing enough and gaining 30lb back. I lost 65lbs. My doctor would not do it he automatically said gastic without doing test ect. I had it in Mexico. I research it an found a hospital that does it only 3 hrs from my home. I live in AZ now. Going to Mexicali mx . I went there last week had a barium swallow before they would commit to a sleeve. I had my old xrays from right after surgery. Thank God I did. He said the technique they use left the top part really large from surgery. He told me it was not my fault. He said I needed a better tool to work with. So if your thinking re sleeve it depends on the issue. I go may 13 for surgery. Looking forward to the new me. I understand a lot more this time round.

I had the TORe procedure done 6/15 and I weighed 201, and this morning I weighed 188. I feel great. I haven’t had any issues at all since surgery ( nausea & vomiting) and healing was rather quick. I felt like my normal self after a few weeks.

Good afternoon. I just joined the forum, and I was wondering if anyone has had the TORe procedure done? Thoughts? Weight loss after? I have an appt this coming Monday for a consult. I had gastric bypass 9 years ago and lost 110 lbs but never got to my goal weight, plus I've gained about 20 lbs since the bypass. I'm just trying to weigh my options before I commit to anything.
    Thanks Amy

Had my third Excess skin removal surgery Dec 5th. Have lost over 270 pounds and finally had my hernia repair and 10 pounds of my tummy skin removed. Spent 1 night in the hospital and was up out of bed within 12 hours of my surgeries. Was told my hernia was twisted and encased and the Dr did not want to use mesh because of possible infection. He had to take my belly button for the same reason. I have been taking Tylenol extra strength and tramadol. Have 2 drains and had a followup yesterday. Was told I am healing well but still need to keep the drains in. Was tired yesterday from the trip to and from the followup but overall I am doing better than when I had my Brachioplasty in March.

I am at 2 weeks post op. it has been pretty easy. went back to work after 5 days.
had some trouble with liquids at first. could not drink much Water so drank diet snapple (on plan). now I can drink water. I need to work on Protein. only getting about 40 a day but I have a lot of restriction it seems to can only eat so much. thank goodness for premiere Protein Shakes at SAMs. but even those I split over into 3 to finish one. just started puréed today. could only eat 1 oz and was stuffed. I am now getting about 450-500 cals a day.
oh and btw down 12 pounds in those 2 weeks. not a crazy amount like some people get but I am very happy. it will probably slow as I can eat more.
