I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a progress report. I started at 270 lbs. and am now 222! I have lost a total of 48 lbs and could not be happier with my decision to have the sleeve. I am wearing clothes that have been packed away for over 2 years. I feel so much better!! I can get my wedding rings on my finger again!! My best NSV so far was about a week ago. We have a really small bathroom and while I was in Front of the mirror getting ready for work my husband went to squeeze by me to use the bathroom and instead of squeezing through like he use to do he just walked right behind me. He stopped and was like wow!! Thats proof of how much smaller you are!! It really made me feel good!!

I'm at 2 weeks after surgery and I just had something allowed at pureed stage. It's called Shelley's Ricotta Bake and basically is the insides of lasagna. I am just like you--- can't imagine not having EVERY part of a meal...from bread to Soup to meat, starch etc. However, there's like a switch after surgery- for example this thing I just ate- fabulous, (but I burned it ) I just knew I couldn't eat that much. I put like a "normal" serving on my plate (which was dumb) but I have this built in thing now that just says STOP and I honor it. It's not the same anymore. You really don't want to keep going. And I don't mean the word pizza doesn't conjure up happy thoughts but ...here's how someone said it to me- You know how after Thanksgiving meal you look around and appreciate how amazing it was but.there's no way you could eat another bite.. that's how this feels. I can't tell you how freeing that is. I know what you're saying, trust me--- we probably all do.
There comes a point when you know, I just can't live like this. I just can't continue to let food be what I live for. How will I replace it? Not sure but I can't do it anymore. Done. And I've had barely any pain, no complications and am gaining more strength every day. I wish you luck!!! Keep writing.

I was nervous at first, especially since I am an emotional eater and wasn't sure how I would deal with them if I couldn't stuff them with food. I won't lie, there are days that I wish I could just eat a little bit more because it tastes sooo good, but I try to remind myself of something a fellow sleever told me...if I could, I would and that is what got me here in the first place. And trust me, it is not 4 bites of food for the rest of your life. I am 20 months post op and can eat probably 3 oz of meat, 1/4 to a 1/2 cup or so of veggies (depends on the kind) and 1 or 2 bites of something else (rice, potatoes). So yes, it is not a lot, but it is more than 4 bites.

BrickHouse reacted to Artichokes in My Best Advice: Try To Id Where The Fear Is Coming From
HI all. I just had my sleeve done at Brigham & Women's in Boston on Friday. I came home yesterday. I have had very, very little discomfort. I actually had a blast at the hospital...a lovely roommate, funny & supportive staff, smiles and encouragement all the way through. I am constantly sipping either G2 or Protein Shakes and it seems like I will be able to get in all my fluid/protein requirements today.
I have a couple of bits of advice for folks out there. Before surgery, I was trying to mentally prepare for everything. Then I started realizing I was borrowing trouble. Why obsess about what could go wrong, instead of what could go right? I finally realized all of these fears were control issues. I couldn't project myself into how it would feel after surgery, so I began to think about stuff that could go wrong...what if I vomited? What if I got dehydrated? What if I got a stricture? What exhausting and counterproductive thinking!!
Here's what you do to insure all will be well. Do EVERYTHING your doctor tells you. This is not the time to cheat, negotiate, or do all those other mental gymnastics we used to do to rationalize going off the diet. This is NOT a diet. The preop diet is designed to shrink your liver, but also to get your body as strong as it can be for such a shock to its system. Do you want the surgery to work and your recovery to be easier? Follow the plan. After surgery, FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S ORDERS. Don't force yourself to another level before it's time. You have had 80% of your stomach removed. There is a significant amount of healing that needs to take place. Putting something in there that is not sanctioned by your doctor is just silly. You've gone through all this and you want to sabotage it. Time to get anew way of thinking, folks.
I hope this doesn't come off as too preachy, but I have been astouded by someofthethings I've read on the boards. What a wonderful place they are....such great support and useful information but,in the end, it's up to you. You need to decide to do the right thing for your own well being!

I am in my office chair and I leaned forward slightly raised my foot off the ground to be able to reach my foot to tie my lace, and I raised my knee so high I smashed my lip!
No belly in the way, so it just kinda "wham"...sooo happy no one saw it here, yet had to share...I take them where I can get them!
