  1. I think one big reason people have negative reaction is fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the one story they heard about someone with a complication. The other I have encountered is simply not knowing what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone that has struggled with their weight long term. They cannot compare needing to lose 10 pounds with needing to lose 100, they just don't know. Keep the people you count on close, they are who you need. Good luck!
  2. Good luck today and for a very smooth recovery!
  3. Congratulations!! Very good to hear for those of us whose surgery is fast approaching. May every step be as smooth!
  4. I have a huge family, I am one of 10 kids and I started very slowly. I had all my information and answers and I was satisfied that I could give informed answers to anything that was brought up. I share with my close sisters and mom first when I was in the planning stage. And I didn't really share with anyone else until I was confident in my decision. I figured if I wasn't sure of what I wanted, how could I expect others to be? Eventually I shared with most, not all, and some very close friends. I reminded them that this was my story to tell, not theirs and hoped for their discretion. I'm also having my gall bladder out so I focused on only that when telling some others I was going into the hospital. Unfortunately there are some people who can't help themselves but try to "Prepare" you. Unless their information is better than yours, don't listen. Overall, I have gotten tremendous support and I couldn't be more thankful I shared. Good luck!
  5. Northern NJ here too, being sleeved in Valley Hospital November 6.
  6. I imagine I'll feel the same in 13 days. Take a deep breath, and keep reminding yourself of all the things you'll do on the other side of surgery. You got this!!!
  7. What a fantastic feeling that must be! Very happy for you.
  8. Congrats again to all November sleevers, we're getting close!!
  9. I tried a bunch, my favorite being Pure Protein chocolate Frosty powder (less sweet than the pre made cans). I get it on Amazon, but have seen it in stores.
  10. Fantastic progress! Way to go!
  11. My surgeon said I would get it while in the hospital. Do a search here for "Heprin" there are a lot of folks who had to get shots in the hospital and some who had to do more after.
  12. Sorry you have to stay another night, but better to be safe. Good luck and Congratulations!
  13. I've been enjoying Pure Protein brand powder, Frosty Chocolate. It is less sweet than the pre made ones from the same brand. I sometimes add a tablespoon of the PB2 and it is delicious.
  14. I just started mine today, maybe an email to your nutritionist explaining how you are feeling and she can give you some added options to make the time go easier. You can do it!
  15. Congratulations! Good luck to you!
