TJ1 got a reaction from nurseghana in Any 40 Something Women Get Pregnant After Sleeved?
I'm 37, and getting sleeved Friday. I plan on trying to get pregnant next Summer, after my High School Reunion. We have a 2 year old, and I gained about 35 pounds with her during my pregnancy, on top of about 20 from working a desk job before that. I didn't want to get pregnant while I was already heavy, adding more fat on top of fat. I knew it would be so hard to get off, and it's not healthy . I see nothing wrong with having a child in late 30's or early 40's. Some of us didn't have the right person in our lives , or weren't ready for children earlier. Go for it!!

Okay, I'm going to say something that probably won't be very popular. But , why shower him with attention and make HIM feel special???? She works , she busts her butt. Why can't HE cook and clean? How about him make HER feel special, like I'm sure he use to do, or she wouldn't have married him. I know that I see my Hubby in some of this. We have a two year old. He works ; I stay home with our child. He thinks I do nothing all day.... We don't have sex anymore. And, I mean , we have had sex 3 times, maybe 4, since our child was born, and only once while I was pregnant. A huge part of me gaining so much weight is due to being ignored and neglected. I gained the majority of my weight with being pregnant. So, it's only been a few years that I gained 50 pounds. I'm short though, so 50 pounds is a lot on me.... When we had a more steady sex life, It's never been extraordinary, but I was in better shape, felt much better about myself. I am not appreciated. I am sure this sleever feels unappreciated as well. My procedure is next week, 27th. Can't wait! I tell you what, I won't be kissing his butt afterwards, or trying to make him feel special. LOL Sorry to those who disagree. I am just speaking from my own, personal perspective. : )

Thank you! I did a lot of research..... And, there is a $4500 summer special!!!! When I found that out, I felt like it was a sign for me to go ahead , and do it! Since having my 2 year old, I never do anything for myself. I use to be in great shape. But, the pregnancy , and a desk job for two years before that, took a hard toll on me. I can't wait to feel good about myself again! Let me know if you want more info... I'll give you my patient coordinator's email. I LOVE her, and trust her. She has been through a procedure in TJ, which helped me to feel at ease. I've been reading so much information , as well as reading many , many, many forums. I'm not telling my friends or family. I know they would flip out, about the procedure, and because it's in Mexico.... And, because I have a lower BMI than most who get the procedure, I know I'd hear a lot of criticism from friends and family. Getting nervous, but looking forward to feeling pretty, attractive again...

I'm trying to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. This isn't easy for any of us. This pre-op diet, then the post -op.... Good Lord ! But, it'll be worth it for all of us! My Hubby will see that it isn't just a matter of having surgery, then magically losing weight. This will be hard work, and a major life style change, along with crazy power . I can't wait until I'm fitting into old clothes, and feeling good again . Wish I could fast forward to the good stuff. But, all this hard stuff will make me work harder to not allow myself to be fat again!! : ) Good luck to ALL of us! ~

Some people seem to think that losing weight is easy, and that all you have to do is diet, and exercise.... My Hubby is one of them. Although, I am so thankful that he agreed to pay for my upcoming procedure, July 27th, I know that he thinks it's insane, and drastic, that I am having SURGERY to lose weight. But, then, I also know that he looks at me differently since having our child, and gaining this weight. I'm a stay at home Mother of a rambunctious two year old. I have no time to exercise. My child is constantly under my feet, or glued to my side. I LOVE my child with all my heart, but, I can't focus on myself since becoming a Mother. I've tried losing weight other ways, and it doesn't work. Anyhow, my point is that I think many of us have partners who aren't as supportive as they could be. I'd love to go into my procedure feeling like he supported me. But, I know that isn't going to happen. I have decided to seek counseling for us to start on after the procedure. I know it will be good for us, and for me. People who aren't overweight don't understand the difficulty we face feeling huge, not wanting to go anywhere , etc... I pray my procedure goes well, and that I'm back to my happy, positive, outgoing person , the person I use to be before gaining all this weight. I know that family and friends are going to criticize and judge me. So, I'm not telling anyone . Good luck with your Husband. Reading these forums, I see that we aren't alone in having less than supportive spouses. Best of luck to all who have had the procedure, and to those who are going to have the procedure! : )

My doctor is the one who is sending me to Mexico lol...funny how some are for it, and some are so opposed. Miss, has your incision healed? When you say popping open....ummm...how open??
