Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Hi newgrandmother, I know what you are going through. I hit a low of 185, then put 10 lbs back on and I've been struggling to lose those 10 lbs and more for the past 4 months. I've been training to do a 1/2 marathon this Spring but even that isn't making the numbers move. Very frustrating! But we have the tool, we just have to keep trying and keep motivating each other to do what we know to do. I'm going to work on eating more protein and less carbs. And to cut out the snacking! Stay strong, we can still do this!!

I'm not sure about my measurements, I've never taken them. But I do feel great and I would rather be where I am now, even if this is it for weight loss than where I was 6 months ago. Thanks for reminding me that I need to remember how far I've come, it's really been a big change. I'm smaller now than I've been since high school.

I'm glad you're here for support, because this would be driving me crazy otherwise. I'm going back to my pre-surgery diet, 2 protein shakes and one low fat meal a day. I'll let you know if anything shakes loose with that.

I've been stuck at the same general weight for like a month. I don't know what to do. I try to track my food on my fitness pal and I don't go over calories (1200). I've been doing water aerobics twice a week and training on the couch to 5K for the past 6 weeks. I'm jogging for 20 minutes at a time but the scale just doesn't move. What the heck is going on? Should I do strength training, more cardio, eat more, eat less? This is why I could never lose weight on my own LOL, I never knew what to do!

It is a local Mexican place, not a chain. But most of them have seafood, shrimp, or fish tacos. I have learned that I don't tolerate beef or chicken very well yet, so I look for shrimp and seafood, and grilled or broiled over fried.

    Valentine's Day Challenge 2013

Congratulations to everyone who made their goals and everyone who tried. Working toward the goal is a big accomplishment too. I know I weight so much less than I did last Valentine's day and who knows where I'll be a year from now. I didn't make my goal, still 8 lbs off. What's the next challenge? Any ideas?

I have United Health Care, their website will tell you what bariatric surgeons are in the network in your area. Once you get that list, you can start researching them, reading reviews etc. Good luck to your Mom, the insurance worked well for my surgery once I jumped through all the hoops they wanted.

    Valentine's Day Challenge 2013

My goal weight for Valentine's Day was 180. I don't think I'm going to make it but on the plus side, I've finished Week 3, Day 2 of the Couch to 5K program. Good luck to everyone who's working on this challenge!
  9. I wasn't sleeved in Juarez but I was very nervous before the surgery. That seems to be a normal reaction. Good luck with your surgery and I'm sure that the Juarez sleevers will let you know how it went for them.

I been feeling the same way, long stall and the same 3 or 4 lbs keep cycling through the scale - lose them and gain them back. Very frustrating! I started doing the "couch to 5K" training thinking that might kick the lbs but nope. I'll try adding more weight training next week.
  11. You're looking great, keep it up, it is so worth it!
  12. I got dehydrated the first day I came home because I wasn't drinking enough and ended up in the ER receiving fluids intravenously. Seriously, if you can't drink enough, you need to go to the ER or an urgent care clinic.

I know what you mean, my arms make strange clapping noises now too. Let's hope this all starts to firm/tone up soon!

    Buffets by the pound!

I went to Costco, ate some deli meat, cheese, and greek yogurt samples. Free lunch...

    Newbie from northern MN

then this surgery could be right for you. I was fat (obese) for all of my adult life, I have NEVER shopped in Normal size stores (only if they had a Plus size section). I am loving it, I wear size 14 now, I ride a bicycle again (haven't done that since I was a teenager), I am starting to jog, I feel so much more confident and so much energy! Sometimes when I'm walking, I feel like I could just start flying. I will never regret having this done. I know that some people have had very serious issues associated with their surgery, it is major surgery. But for me it was worth it. Good luck!
