So Sad I Cannot Breathe
Fun size replied to Fun size's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She is a step down nurse currently and the new hospital has a good training program in place. She has some limited resources in her new city, a cousin who is an oncology surgeon at another hospital and a close friend who is in nursing school. I am retired so if she asks me, I would be available, but I think it would be good for her to sort things out for herself. I am going to strongly suggest that she see a family doc and get some antidepression meds to start and then some counseling sessions. I bet my neice (the surgeon) would be able to recommend a good family doctor. -
So Upset.......please Need Advice And Input!
Fun size replied to ginger0429's topic in Insurance & Financing
In have read in more than a few places that CIGNA automatically declines the firsttime and you have to resubmit it then it will go through. Have you had a sleep study? Having a CPAP machine would count as a comorbidity. Your leg and back pain should count too. Not even a little high BP? What about cholesterol? That counts. do not give up!! You will get there. -

Thank you Cookeeez..You are about her age so you likely get it. She's so sad and lonely. No boyfriend and all of her highschool friends are married and having babies. So she quit her job and is moving to a bigger city that is WAY more expensive and a lot less apartment. Her new job will be as an intensive care nurse (a lot to learn) She's leaving her family and friends, all of her (boring) support. She knows she had a melt down and I believe she knows she needs help. I think being in Italy with no worries for two weeks will help her see things more clearly. I won't give up on her getting some medical support. -
Weight Loss Before Insurance Approval?
Fun size replied to Jessielynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 232 I had a BMI of 48!!! I have been losong weight as well. I should be under 220 at my next (and last) NUT visit. I decided that if I lose more than that I'd load up on water before my visit. It's crazy that we worry about losing weight. Just call and ask your doc. Don't worry. -

So Sad I Cannot Breathe
Fun size replied to Fun size's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This afternoon she sent me a text apologizing for her behavior. She knows she had a meltdown of some sort and is very sorry, wants to pay for breaking my windshield and wants a few more days before she sees me. In the past she's said that she thinks she suffers from depression. She has talked about getting help but she doesn't have a family doctor (hers moved away). Hopefully, this is a wake up call for her. Her cousin is a surgeon in the city she will be moving to in October. I bet she could recommend a good doc. So it seems like she will be going with us to Italy (I sure hope so) for two weeks. She'll be with people who love her, no stress, lots of adventures and some time to talk. A few people on this thread have mentioned drugs. She gets drug tested next week for her new job. I would be surprised if that was the case. She's had minor meltdown in the past, every few years or so. This one shook her up. She knows she needs help. -
Scared Can't Stop Cleaning

Of course you're afraid. It's surgery. But just think you've given birth to three kids and this is way easier and safer than childbirth. And the results will bring you a healthy, happier future. If you did your homework (and I'm sure you did) you know the first few days could be a little tough. But you are strong and you will do fine. You made this decision for you. If your family doesn't support you, so be it. You need to support you. You know what it's felt like fighting the obesity beast. It's much more painful than anyone else knows. Those who aren't with you are just worried about you. They will be so happy for you when you are more fit and healthy. Good thoughts and prayers going your way. -

The support of all of you is just incredible. I know I need to hear repeatedly that she needs help, I need to hear repeatedly that I am not at fault. She is a beautiful, bright, young woman with some mental health issues. I will figure out how to help her. She must be really lost and hurting. She usually calls or drops by several times a week. She has to know she isn't well. Maybe when she is calmer, she will let us help her get help. Thank you all for your support. -

My husband thinks she flipped out with me because I am safe. She has a stellar reputation as a nurse and is in the process of changing her job, cities, hospital and apartment, leaving her friends and family. My husband thinks all of this stress caused her to snap. I realize that being mentally unwell in Italy could be a disaster. Leaving her alone in the states doesn't sound too good either. I agree with you that there is a serious problem. I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Thank you for your words. She has been a loving daughter all of her life. I will find a way to help her. -

I know drugs aren't involved. I believe she's really unwell. She is usually my best bud, my shopping buddy. She is supposed to go to Italy with us in two weeks. I hope breaking my windshield helps her realize she isn't well. -

I know she needs help. Since I let her out of my car I probably blew it. She's a hospital RN and I know she's been working this weekend. It's just a tough, heartbreaking spot to be in. -

II agree with you totally. I should have taken her straight to the hospital when she was in my car. I wanted to call the police but she took my phone. Until this happened we were a normal family. Or so I thought. -

Thank you all for your kind and wise words, also for your prayers. She's an RN. She's intelligent. She has cut off all contact with me, but is still in touch with my husband. I feel powerless right now. -
That's a major NSV. The thing is, once you know you can handle temptation, the next time will be easier. Congrats.

Hospitalized Last Week.... The Story And More
Fun size commented on ~*~ Melissa ~*~'s blog entry in Melissa's Blog
What a difficult road you've been on. Costco has protien shakes that have 30 grams of protien per serving. They are thin and easy to swallow. I don't detect an aftertaste. Hopefully those meds start to work and you are well soon. -
Curious? Any One In Cincinnati?

Jessielynn. I am getting it done at Toledo Hospital, I bet I don't get it done until sometime in November. I wish it was sooner. In the mean time I am trying really hard to lose whatever I can before hand, Not easy! -

Jessielynn, I think easch insurance is different. I had to do 6 months of nutricional counseling. They count your first visit as one month (go figure) so it's really only 5 months. My last class is 9/17. Then they will submit it to insurance. That should take two weeks. I'm getting excited. Where are you? Where will you have your sleeve done? -

Stunning! What a beautiful picture. Can hardly wait for my sleeve, Thanks for sharing. -
That sounds unusual to me. I've had thyroid disease since I was 14. No one every used my TSH levels as a deciding factor for anything. It usually takes 4 to six weeks for a full response from your body after use change meds.

So glad I did it!

Pre-Op And Already Failed... :...(
Fun size replied to rapf777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with 7carol13. Quit beating yourself up. We didn't get in the position to need this surgery without food issues. It is TOUGH! Nothing could be harder right now. Drink extra protien shakes, the higher in protien the better. Fill up on water. Drink lots of herbal teas, hot and cold. Just do one day or even one hour. You can do anything for an hour. Be proud of yourself when that hour is over. Next hour, new goal. You CAN do this. -

ZebraSprinkles, Congrats on getting your date! After I get my insurance approval, I won't get to see the surgeon for maybe a month and then the date will be about another month!!! For me it's all too slow! September 10 is just around the corner! Going to the losers bench. YAY!! -

Welcome Sunnymama10. I am a newbie too. I have two beautiful duaghters, ages 26 and 28. They are not thrilled that I am doing this, but I am. I am doing it for me. I have a lot of living to do and I just can't stand thinking about doing it as a chub. I sure get the "NO MORE" thought. In the pitch dark, with my friends at our annual girls night sleep over, I don't want to be the one who goes chunky dunking while everyone else goes skinny dipping. And, someday, when I am a grandmother, I want the energy and the good health to play with those babies. Welcome to the losers bench. I am still waiting for approval. I hope you get yours soon.
