Hi Rachiepoo sounds like you're doing great! And it was so nice to meet everyone today. Hope to keep coming and seeing everyone. Oh and I survived my boot camp. May not be able to walk tomorrow but I did it.You are one tough lady!! I so enjoyed the meeting today, so good to see and meet everyone. We will be shooting for the 3rd Saturday in October to meet again. Not sure about the rest of you, but I thought it was extremely noisy today. Wondering if we should try to find another meeting spot. Let me know what you all think!

Surgery Sept 10th' date=' looking so forward to it. Praying I will be able to return to work in 2 weeks, I really need to, one of my coworkers will be getting married and I don't want to mess her up...[/quote']Good luck to you ! Hope that all goes great for your surgery and recovery!

I think if we meet about 9:30 AM on the 3rd Saturday that we can possibly sit outside until the room gets cleared. It takes a few minutes to order and get your drink, so by the time we get a drink, the big room meeting should be about ready to be done. Please invite any other local sleevers or those thinking about having the surgery. If you have a favorite snack or recipe please being it to share. See all of you soon!

I have not made it to any of these yet but woukd like to. Where is the meeting held? Hard to believe that I am 1 year 4 months post surgery at this point. Thanks and look forward to attending. We meet right outside of Blue Springs at the Lead Bank, they have a coffee shop in the basement, The Bean Counter. They have coffee, Protein drinks and other goodies.

I realized that we have a conflict with the 4th Saturday and another meeting. I was wondering if moving the meeting in September to the third Sat, at about 10:30 AM would be better for everyone. They have a group that meets in the large room from 9- about 10:30. We could do earlier and maybe we could sit outside if the weather is good. It is just pretty tight in the small room for all of us to be at one small table. Let me know what you think!

Just wanted to let you ladies that were at our last meeting know that my daughter, Madison, was sleeved on Wed. 8/14 by Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico. Surgery went perfectly and we flew home today. She is so excited to be on the loser's bench!!

I had surgery last August with Dr. A. and just returned home today from taking my daughter to Dr. Alvarez for sleeve surgery. :-)He is truly the kindest Dr. That I have ever met. He did so good with my daughter, she had never had a surgery in her life. He took the time to talk with her about everything that he would do before the surgery and what she could expect after. She told me that she really expected it to be much more painful than it was. I recommend him so often because he is really there for his patients, long after the operation is over.

I was there last August and the ice and Water are both purified. You have no need to worry about that. I will be there in August again, taking my daughter to have surgery with Dr. Alvarez. He is simply the best.

I had am email from Lisa last week about having a meeting, she said she was busy going back and forth to Omaha to check on her Mother. I can set up a meeting if we want to have one in July, at The Bean Counter Cafe again. How about we shoot for the third Saturday in July. Would that work for any of you? I have a friend that has surgery tomorrow and my daughter is having it within the next few months, so hopefully they can come too.

I was warned to avoid that practice when I started looking into wls. I don't know anyone personally that has gone there but working in healthcare I trusted my resources.
My nephew used this Dr. For the Lap Band and has not had very much success to lose his weight. His sister used him for the VSG and is doing very well. They both seem to like him. Not sure of his skills though since I do not know him and did not use him as my surgeon.

Truth be told......this particular 'surgeon' clearly' date=' has had serious and terrible outcomes....where families are left to grieve......and what an insincere way to run a 'practice' when a potential patient is told by her american doctors that it would be anethema to have the surgical procedure due to a bleeding disorder.......if, the surgery would have proceded....it might have been disasterous and litigious.....and, in Mexico a rather difficult undertaking....since, they do not have the protections for patients as in the USA.....Before, youspout inaccuracies......do your homework and check with the Mexican
consulate....they know....![/quote']
I find it interesting that all of your posts on VST have a reference in them to Dr.A and what a horrible surgeon that he is. Yet, When you research him, there is very little negative posted about him or his practice. I understand that you have some deep rooted issue with him but there are people that do research him daily and never come up with all the facts that you claim to "know" about him. I have a friend that is a Dr. In Mexico and she has never heard or been able to find anything bad about him either. Your opinion is just that, and we all have one. I do know that my experience and others that have been sleeved by him, was truly wonderful. You will never change my mind in knowing that this was the best thing that I have ever chosen to do for myself. My sleeve sister is from a very small town in AR where MANY have chosen him as their surgeon. Not one has ever been harmed, had serious side effects or had a bad experience. I will certainly be checking with the Mexican consulate to see what they know.
