    Power Crunch Protien Bars

These are my favorite bars too. Not heavy and chewy like some, and no nasty artificial sweetener aftertaste!

    Your "large" Incision?

My two largest incisions are only about 1 inch long. One straight above my belly button, the one they took my stomach out is on my left side and only one inch long too. I questioned DR. Alvarez as to how they got my stomach out of a hole that small! I have three others that just look like something poked me.
  3. Will do ! We will be sure it gets posted on here. Where were you sleeved??
  4. Do you live in the city or a suburb? We have a small sleever group that meets occasionally( not monthly) . It is nice just to be able to talk and share recipe ideas and foods that we have found that are worth trying. We would love for you to join us if you can next time we meet. It will probably be after the first of the year when we meet again.
  5. My advice is to get to MX as soon as you can and have the surgery. I am sure they can work you in. Another six months is a long time to wait unless you absolutely have to. I am so very sorry this happened. That is not cool at all.
  6. I was sleeved in August by Dr. Alvarez and we were told to get a passport or passport card to cross the border. I had mine from Cruising so I did not have to get one but I am pretty sure you need one. They checked ours at the three stops coming back into the USA
  7. You REALLY need to find a DR. that can help you. I hate the fact that you are so sick and they are doing NOTHING to improve your situation. If they said you had fluid outside your stomach, did it just go away ? Why did they do nothing about it? I was sleeved in MX and I am really amazed at how most US doctors do not seem to care when a person is suffering. It amazes me. There has to be something that they can do for you.
  8. Good luck to you, Zenoosh! I wish you a great surgery and a great recovery. Mine was perfect so I always feel for those that are gassy or vomiting...none of that stuff! You will be on the losers bench before you know it.

    Where are the 50s ???

Deb, So glad that you had a good surgery experience. I hope that you enjoy hanging out by the pool Good luck to you in the days and weeks ahead! Move around as much as possible, sip your fluids and get your protein in. It takes time to do it all so just do what you can each day AND get lots of rest. Your body needs it now.

    BC Sleevers

I use the Unjury chicken daily, here is how I do it. I heat about 1/3 cup of water in the microwave just enough to warm it up. Then add that to your mug and a scoop of the chicken powder, and any seasonings you want to add. I have one of the tiny milk frother blenders and I use it to blend that until it is smooth. While doing that, I heat my other 3/4 cup of water till it is very warm, then while still blending, add the hot water. It mixes up smooth each time. DO NOT add cold water to mix it or heat it in the micro after you have mixed it up, it will make you want to be sick just looking at it. (It curdles). The chicken soup is the only way that I can get any drinkable protein in but you have to work with it some. The seasonings help so much. If that fails, call them and send it all back. They have a money back guarantee. I just bought their multi vitamins and they are going back, my sleeve does not like them at all.

    Booting/boils

Boils are horrible, they are normally from a weakened immune system. They take about 3 weeks to heal. I have had two in the past and they are terrible. Do not try to open them, they will do that on their own. There us a medicine called boil- ease, I have not tried it though.

    No -One Responds!

You definitely need 2 nights in the hospital after surgery. I went back to work in a week, but I was able to go home early every day to rest. Hubby and i own our own small business. This surgery zaps your strength because you are not eating enough to keep your energy up.
  14. Insist that your surgeon be called immediately, tell her you will not do anything until they speak with him. Tell them that your stomach is swelled shut and you need help. If she cannot help you, get another Dr.
  15. Praying for you now, that the Dr's will find the problem and get started on helping you to heal.

    Everything Tastes Weird

I remember feeling extremely discouraged about 3 weeks out. Hated the pressure that I felt after eating and how things tasted. I am close to three months out now and things are so much better. I still do not eat much at once and sometimes things still do not taste like they used to taste but I am now able to eat salad (lettuce mostly) and that tastes good to me. It does get better each week that passes. Try not to get down, it really does get better as time passes and your sleeve heals more.

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

Dr. A is amazing. http://www.mexicobariatricsurgeons.com/. Check out all the MX surgeons here
  20. I think that lots of people would be interested in where you found the people that you actually talked to. Everyone that I spoke to had wonderful things to say about him and I had basically the same experience that they had as his patient. I have never found anyone that has had a complication that has posted on any forum that I read about Dr. A. I certainly have never heard of the major complications that you are referring to. I guess you only get that info because you are a attorney .......... I ask the same question? Why are you only inquiring about Dr.A if you say that he is such a horrible surgeon? I would run to any Dr. But him if I had your inside info. As you can tell, I am not buying your posts. I know this man, I trusted him with my life.
  21. http://www.mexicobariatricsurgeons.com/ If you go to this website, it gives info on all the well known Mexico surgeons. Dr. Alvarez is rated 9 out of 10 stars. He must truly be a bad surgeon, right? No! Do your Research before you post negative stuff on the forums.
  22. Dr.Alvarez was my surgeon, I did tons of research on him and read one bad post about him and it was not about a complication. Please do not say that you have heard bad things about him, that simply is not true. I know other surgeons from MX allow their coordinators to say bad things about him. I read hundreds of forum post and 99.9% of them are nothing but positive. Piedras Negras is safe little city, we walked to lunch and to buy gift items there. It is much safer than Juarez or TJ. Not sure who you were talking to but they were filling you with things that are not true at all. I have spoken to plenty of his former patients that have nothing but great things to say about him, Dr. Gabe and the rest of his staff. You can call Dr.Alvarez or email him and ask him all the questions you want. He is the kindest and most considerate man. He is also an amazing surgeon! He gives a copy of his book to his patients when you leave the hospital. I still read mine when I have a question. If you think you are high risk, I would do research and see if ANY surgeon would operate on you first. The money you pay is worth your life, it is not all about the money. It is about a top quality surgeon that has done thousands of sleeves, the man knows what he is doing in the operating room. He is much less $ than less qualified surgeons in the US.
  23. I am almost 3 months out now and I really do not enjoy eating yet. Not like the way I enjoyed eating before the sleeve surgery. I have tried many different foods but most of them do not feel good once they are in my sleeve, so that makes in not so enjoyable. I think a food will be really tasty and then once I prepare it, I find that it is not good tasting to me. I know after one or two bites what will not sit well in my sleeve if I eat more of it. Every day is an experiment as to how food will go down.My stomach was not sensitive at all before surgery, I never had food issues unless I had a bug or something. My new tummy is though. I have not thrown up but I have spent a lot of time lying down after eating waiting for my few bites to digest. I told my hubby today that I hope one day to be able to eat food, enjoy it and feel good after it is in my tummy. I know it is a phase and it will pass, I do not think it will be like this forever. I still prefer to eat soft foods, they just seem to work better for my sleeve

    Guillermo Alvarez In Mexico

There are many people on this forum that have been to Dr. Alvarez. I was sleeved by him on August 2. he is an amazing surgeon. I had truly wonderful care at the hospital. My husband traveled with me and was very impressed with Dr. A and is staff. He speaks perfect English and will always get right back to you when you have a question or a problem. I can help you speak to many others that had surgery with him, if you want to PM me. He is more $ than the Dr's in TJ but I think he was worth every penny. It is very safe to cross the border at Piedras Negras and Rosie takes great care of you as she transports you to and from the hospital. I am doing great now and had basically no pain from the time I woke up from surgery. My surgery experience was truly great. There are a couple of Dr. Alvarez threads under the Mexico surgery board on here too. You can also go to Obesityhelp.com and find loads of info on him there, there are hundreds of testimonies on there for him.

    What Can Cause A Leak?

I did not have one but I think the first signs are severe shoulder pain, elevated temp and rapid heartbeat. Leaks can happen during surgery, and they do not show up until days later. There is a thread on this forum about complications.
