    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

I only have a Costco membership right now. No Sam's Club. I tried some other protein drink that was recommended (body by Vi ?) but I did not like it so I sold my bag to someone that uses it. I still am struggling to find a protein drink that I like and that my sleeve likes! I plan on being at the meeting. Can't wait to see everyone again!
  7. Not one regret other than I wish I done this sooner. It is hard at first and some days are not easy BUT at 5 months out, I am feeling my new "normal" and it feels really good.

5wks PO, and YES I regret

I too really started to feel "normal" at about three months out. basically, we have caused a major shock to our body, then it thinks we are trying to starve it to death. It is now wonder we feel so SH*^^$ for a few weeks. Give your body time to heal. I could not even drink water until my 5 month out anniversary. So many changes to adjust too, You will feel better, just hang in there.
  9. Date sleeved: 8/02 Start weight: 227 (had lost down from 245) Surgery Date Weight: 220 Weight today: 180 What you eating and how much daily: Protein Struggle to get my water in (I Love Coffee ) Daily work out: Just started at the gym. working on the machines, (slowly) and walking for 30 minutes. How hungry are you?: not very How you feel physically: I feel great. I do have some joint pain due to the fact that I can't take an anti inflammatory any longer. But I can deal with it and it is getting better. How you feel emotionally: I am so happy I had this surgery, I am a slow loser but I am very thankful for the loss and how I look and feel. .My Dr's goal is 145 but I want to get to more like 135 Are you glad you chose the sleeve?: YES! Best thing I have ever done for ME Anything extra to say?: I love my sleeve, I love that I have basically no hunger. I still love chocolate and can eat more of it than I should. I have to really watch things like that. Sweets are my weakness and they will always be. I have to control what I let myself eat.

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

You should come to the meeting, we will have it in February at the Lead Bank on 7 highway outside of Blue Springs. They have a cafe there and the serve Big Train Protein drinks. It is fun to meet other sleevers and talk. Believinginlisa heads up the meetings. It would be great to meet you!
  11. I am up for meeting anytime. I will be gone Jan26 - Feb 3......cruising I will make it happen where and when the rest of you can be there. . I have a friend that I would love to have join us, she is not sleeved yet but it is in the plans for March or April. I prefer meeting on Sat. Since I work all week.
  12. I know this is an old thread and everyone is sleeved now. Just wondering if any of you are interested In a meeting? I would love to meet other sleevers and since I was sleeved in Mexico, I do not have a Dr. Or hospital sponsored support group. I live in Pleasant Hill.

I hate the way I feel

I am 5 months out now and it truly does get better. I remember feeling bad for weeks and never thinking I would have energy again. My turning point was at 3 months out. One day things just got easier and they have been improving ever since. Rest, drink as much as you can and eat the right foods. If something does not agree with your sleeve, don't eat it for a week or two. Try new foods, don't eat the same thing each day. I still cannot drink protein drinks or milk but I can handle most other food now. It really is one day at a time.
  14. Hi! amgood....Small world! I have not been on the VST board through the holidays. If you ever want to talk"sleeve" just let me know and we can meet at ****** for a salad. do you know Lisa? She and her hubby do the meetings at the bank near Lake Lotawana? I would love to meet you sometime!

    Leak?

I have never had one but I have read that one sign of a leak is left shoulder pain, caused from the leak putting pressure on something. Also vomiting and fever. If the pain is still there tomorrow call your surgeon.
  16. Glad to hear that you are feeling good ! I tried so hard not to drink coffee after surgery. I waited over a month but I LOVE some coffee SO I caved and drank some. I am very much a coffee addict, be it right or wrong. I hope that you feel better each day. It is a journey and somedays are rougher than others.
  17. I was concerned about that too. I have always had hunger issues before surgery. I have only felt "hungry" a couple of times since surgery. I think that has happened when I have gone hours without eating anything. If you take your Zantac, it helps to keep the pesky hunger away.

    Aceves Or G. Alvarez

Dr, Alvarez is a wonderful surgeon and I would choose him again over anyone. I never had any issues at all and his staff treated us like royalty. No complications at all.
  19. I was sleeved by Dr. A in August. He is one truly great man, easy on the eyes too Littlehope126.... I think you were there with Tami. I had chatted with her on the phone about my surgery experience. I am so glad that you did well. Hopefully you are feeling good now It takes a month or two to feel yourself again, but it will happen!

    Mexican Surgeons

I went to Piedras Negras, MX to Dr. Guillermo Alvarez, he is wonderful and my experience there was great. He is a wonderful surgeon and if you check reviews on ObesityHelp.com, he has great ones.
  21. It took me a few weeks before I could drink a shake in one setting. Things are very slow at first and that is OK. I had a really tough time getting any protein in for the first couple of months. The only thing I could get down daily was the Unjury Chicken Soup. It was warm and soothing to drink. My sleeve prefers warm drinks for some reason. I was three months out before I could get much of anything down at one time. I am just over 4 months out now and my labs came by good. Just take your vitamins, rest and drink as much as your sleeve with allow you too. I hope that you get totally better now and have no more setbacks!!
