  1. I think it is unprofessional on her part. You have a right to unbiased information. She should be providing facts, both to the benefits and risks of WLS. That said before you are completely discouraged, I recommend that you attend a WLS orientation put on by one of your insurance's WL surgeons. They are usually open to the public and free. There they will offer a Q&A session where you can get your general questions answered and discuss the benefits and risks. While a dietician has a degree, they are not doctors.
  2. To not have to try and shift my weight to my legs when my SO wants me to sit on his lap for fear of crushing him. Can't wait see the impact weight loss can have on my career success Can't wait to not have to strategically place pillows all around me in order to support my weight while sleeping Can't wait to not have those burning red bumps on my inner thighs after wearing a dress for a day. Can't wait to sit on a plane and have room on each side of my seat cushion Can't wait to stop avoiding people, social situations, photos. Can't wait to feel able to be more physically active. Can't wait to not have fat sex anymore
  3. Thank you for the update. Glad you are making progress to recover your health. My thoughts are with you. Keep us posted.

I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

I have a manager at my workplace who says "kindigarden" instead of kindergarten. She also misuses words, e.g. exterminating circumstances instead of extenuating circumstances. It makes it impossible to respect her.

    I Am Incredibly Lazy!

I hate the gym too. I pay and never go. So I am looking into things I do like: walking, yoga, pilates, boxing, dancing ( I want to try Zumba or Jazzerise). If is fun, I am more apt to do it. I'm also hoping that by going to a group exercise class that I make friends which will motivate me to keep coming. As a last resort, I will rejoin Curves because at least then you get a workout in less than a hour and since I hate working out, the less time the better.

My Advice To All Newly Post-Op Sleevers...

Thanks for your perspective. I read about marathons and all kinds of amazing workouts folks on here are doing, so I wasn't sure if it was enough.

My Advice To All Newly Post-Op Sleevers...

Jimmy, like a lot of folks, I'm all thumbs when it comes to weight lifting and working out in general. What do you think of those Curves-type workouts that combine cardio and weight training in a timed circuit? I find it is idiot-proof enough that I can do it. My question is, is it effective?
  8. I won't miss being tired and out of energy all the time I won't miss being the largest person in the room I won't miss feeling my breasts rest on my stomach when I sit down I won't miss sweaty chub rub or sweating through my pants/skirts when sitting for a long time I won't miss people giving me a wide birth then they walk by
  9. My insurance does not cover the sleeve, only band or bypass. However, I have called into them before and they have implied that if my doctor can prove that sleeve is medically necessary, then they will approve it.
  10. I have called my insurance (Healthnet h,m,o) and they cover WLS but have several conditions that worry me. first they require all procedures to go through their Bariatric Centers. Has anyone heard of these, dealt with them. Second, they only cover the lap-band or gastric bypass UNLESS some how the doctor proves that the sleeve is medically necessary. Does anyone know how to prove the sleeve is necessary and conversley that these other forms are WLS would be contra-indicated? I really only want the sleeve after doing my research. Lastly, does anyone with Healthnet *** know what the steps are to their approval process. I couldn't figure out if they require dieting, nutrition counseling, classes, etc. thank you!
  11. thank you for asking that! i go to a new PCP on wednesday and an so nervous that the PCP will create hurdles rather than clear them out of my way. I have an *** so have to get a referral.
  12. I want to walk without getting tired, dance without getting winded after 2 minutes, and feel comfortable in my own skin.
