I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

Ooh ooh and I forgot one... When people say "I could care less!" Oh so you do care?

    Pain Is Discouraging

Mine id on my right side about an inch upward going diagonal toward my sternum. It always hurts when I sneeze or over do myself. My doctor told me that he does a wide stitch on the muscle layer to avoid the muscle suture line from being pulled on. He said this sometimes causes the muscle to "bunch up" there. This causes my muscle to not be able to stretch very much. He said it will resolve when the stitches dissolve around 6-8 weeks.
  3. My NUT said 32g at one time but I've heard others say around 28.

Help! Exercising Made Me Gain Weight?!

Muscle weighs more than fat... so you probably still lost some weight. This is why you should also keep measurements.

    Fever 9 Days Post Op

My doc also says early out you can run low grade fever if you're not getting all your fluids. In my case this has proven to be very true. Still call your doc though! =)

    Plantar Fascitis

I began to develop PF when I became a surgery nurse after all the amt of time on my feet. I have had a pair of z-coil shoes for 2 years. I started wearing them to work every day and all my symptoms went away. In 2 yrs I've only had to replace my coils once (about a month ago).
  7. Everyone is so different! I considered myself to be tough and i was very active pre-op. I planned on taking ONE week. I am a manager and had approval to take all i needed paid. But I said... nah! I'll be fine! HA.... i didnt get my drain out til 9 days post-op and it was painful (really only pain i had). But i had NO energy and I've been having the memory/cloudy head problems BAD. There was no way I could have went back full time the second week. I stopped in every day but sometimes even had trouble with people's names. I went back yesterday and I'm feeling pretty good. The doc said my cloudy head will slowly get better.

    3.5 Months Out - Bleeding

I think most people that ask questions about symptoms on here are not expecting a diagnosis. Most are curious if their current problem is a common side effect or are wanting some sort of reassurance while waiting to hear from the doctor. Any symptom (even a headache) could potentially be life or death thus no one should ask ANY symptom related question on this forum. The rest of us idiots may kill them by just offering our experience with similar situations. To the OP... a little bit of blood can look like a massacre in the toilet. I agree that it is most likely hemorrhoids or fissures but it does have potential to be a mass. The doctor can refer you for a colonoscopy or other diagnostic test to find out.

    Food Porn ( Graphic)

Pizza, chinese, and chips and salsa are the foods i cant wait for. I watch Food Network daily. Lol. I also find myself cooking much more... even if its just for my family and something i can't eat yet. I miss regular food so bad (in the pureed stage).
  10. I have the same type of pain in my right side. It feels muscular because it doesn't feel deeper than that but its not near my incisions.

    One Week Post Op

I was a week out monday. I have problems eating and drinking still but just because of gas. I only get the cramping feeling with really cold drinks. But that is getting better. I force myself to drink my protein shakes but i hate them. I also add the unflavored protein to all of my soups. I'm getting my protein but having trouble with getting my liquids. Water is all i can stand to drink now. We used to drink ALOT of crystal light. Now i can't stand it. Don't like G2 and powerade zero anymore. Don't like juices. I'm not hungry.. ever. Head hunger for something every now and then. Might be I'm just sick of soup!

But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6

My ultimate goal is a size 8. That was my skinny size. I am too muscular and big boned to be much smaller. I was around 160# then. I had no comorbidities but i do have a popping sound and pain in my knees. They say its a birth defect how my knees are shaped. Hopefully losing the weight will help. I am very self conscious about my weight. I want to walk in a room and not worry about being the fattest one. I may not ever be "skinny" compared to normal people. But i want to be normal size or "skinny for my build."

    Food...finally!

I miss sushi! Went out with the husband to our favorite sushi place and they have a bunch of new stuff I'm dying to try. He tried one i picked and said it was great. I sipped my soup...

    Sick Of It!

I get sorta the same feeling. I see people on here going and doing... and I'm like HOW? I thought that i was pretty tough. Went to a movie with my husband two days ago and then to watch him eat sushi (i had some soup). Then i passed out tired in the truck on the way home. I cooked supper last night and was give out. I made sure to get all of my protein yesterday.. hopefully that will help. Still struggling with liquids. I get about 40 oz. The only thing my sleeve doesn't like is cold stuff so i have to drink everything at room temperature... yuck. I am so ready to feel normal!

    Vitamins

I have some gummies that are great! There like little treats. I don't really like my caltrate vanilla chewable but it's because they are too sweet.

    Macho Cheese Doritos

I've found that giving in to my cravings to lick certain food items is really helpful. =) last night I cooked one of those Velvetta box meals for the family cause it was easy. It smelled sooo good. I gave in and had a lick of the sauce. Ya know what... yuck. My tastes have changed so much already. Instead of craving it the whole time, i found out i didnt want it anyway and enjoyed my little cup of soup juice. No one made it to this forum for having the will some act that you should. I hope if i ever do make it to the point of licking a dorito.. that it no longer takes good. Wouldn't it be great if all my food weaknesses did that. I bet they won't but I'll deal with that from day to day. On my birthday i might even have a small piece of cake (gasps). But i think I'll be just fine... And i won't need counseling for it.
  19. I was sleeved monday the 27th. So far i haven't had bad gas... until today. Now everytime i move and especially when i drink i can't stop belching. It's really uncomfortable because i can feel it making it's way up my sleeve. When I'm drinking i can feel it fighting to get around. I take tiny sips and make sure I'm not gulping air at the same time. I'm only drinking broth, water, and G2. Other than the gas the only pain is from my drain and i don't have any nausea.

When Does The Gas Get Better?

Gas X did nothing for me. I chewed it all day yesterday. Today seems to be a little better. Still have lotsa gas but it doesn't hurt my sleeve. I hope it stays that way!

    Lazy Folks

Here it talks about fatness vs fitness http://todayiwill.com/2010/01/fitness-vs-fatness-diet-vs-exercise-for-weight-loss-2/#.UEGTK5R5t3o But i also must mention that i would not consider myself lazy even without your typical workout routine. I work horses daily and have a job that keeps me on my feet 8-10 hrs a day. Before surgery i could easy run up several flights of stairs without being winded. My NUT actually told me I could cut back to the lower Protein requirements if I wanted to lose some of my muscle to not be so "bulky." (Her body mass thingy put me in the OVER category for muscle mass) I laughed and told her no thank you I will keep all the muscle i can. So it truly comes down to how "Lazy" you are talking. I have low pulse and blood pressure and absolutely no comorbidities. But I am active in my everyday life. I will choose to add some exercise plans as i go. But to answer the original question... yes you probably can lose the weight you want with diet alone. But don't expect to feel your best or look your best. And there are things to do besides the typical gym exercise routines...

    Lazy Folks

My NUT told me exercise is for toning and diet is for losing. She actually recommends just walking. At some point i will go back to the boot camp i was part of but i am going to see how it goes before i decide. Its pretty strenuous so i might wait until around christmas and slowly work up to it in the meantime. I felt really good when i was going.

    Macho Cheese Doritos

So excited to see that some of y'all can tolerate Louisiana hot sauce. We have it on just about everything. It was even one thing i craved while pregnant. And i cook alot of my veggies (cabbage, black eyed peas) with a tbsp of candied jalapenos. Ugh.. now my head hunger is back. I'm ready for food!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

My first two days after i felt like my mouth was puffy. At some point either they scratched my tongue and lip or i bit them... both areas ulcerated. As soon as the nausea went away i brushed my whole mouth basically to make it feel not so yucky. My surgery was monday and I'm just now able to take about an ounce of liquid at a time. I would get a tight cramp in my chest. They also repaired a hiatal hernia and the nurse said thats probably really swollen and causing that problem. I'm ready for these stomach spasms to go away. Warm broth seemed to help yesterday. Hang in there it slowly gets better.
