    I Was Banded Yesterday!!!!

I think it's great you and your best friend will be able to share your band journey together. I think it will be much easier for both of you. My hubby has never had an issue with weight, but he's been very supportive. I only had the shoulder pain and as long as I walked it was minimal pain, but it appeared often and for white a while. Good luck to you both.
  2. Dee, I'm sorry to hear about the lady who passed, but I doubt seriously it had anything to do with the band. I've been banded for more than 4 years and I love my band.

I'd be interested to know how healthy this person was. It sounds more like this person may have had a blood clot or something related to having surgery period, but that being said, I'm NOT a doctor.

You'll be fine, just follow the directions of your surgeon, get in lots of protein and take care of yourself. You've got to move around after the surgery, that's so important.

    Hugs

SherryW "In a large Dutch oven, combine ground chuck, onion, bell pepper and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until beef is browned and crumbles" What'sa a Dutch Oven? Is it cookware only used by Dutch people? I have that cool stainless stuff, it's got a huge pot with a drainer/strainer type insert I use for boiling eggs, would that work? My set is by Wolfgang it looks good in my kitchen, LOL. I looked up the dutch oven, it's a freakin big pot with a lid, why didn't ya just say so, LOL. And the garlic, do you use real garlic or do you convert real garlic equivilant to garlic powder? I can brown that beef in the microwave right? Never mind, I'll just cook a Stouffer's lasagna and cut it up and make it into soup, sounds much easier, hahaha. Later gal pals thought you might could use a little fun time

Hey everyone, wonder what happened to my earlier post . Oh well, tomorrow's another day. Sherry, OMG, that's way too much work for me, sounds really good, but half that stuff I've never heard of, LOL. Going to watch the skins, tc all.

    Four years today!

Thank you all so much, at my age, almost 60, I feel like an inspiration. I love the new me and I'm not only lovin life, I'm living it to the fullest. You can all do it. There are lots of people that have done a lot better than I have in a shorter amount of time, that's why it's so important to realize we're all individual and we lose at our own pace. Hugs to you all. Here's a picture of me a few days before surgery and then a couple of weeks ago, again, at my 40th anniversary party, like I said lovin life!

Ok, lets try this again, not sure if it's me or my laptop, which is a tad bit "touchy". Sherry, I'm beginning to worry about you...coloring books, hmmmm! Well, did anyone notice my post yesterday, celebrating my 4 years? Hard to believe it's been that long, where does the time go. Kat, sorry about all your family issues, but it's not just you. My DNL hasn't spoken to me since April when I caught her with another guy, imagine that. She did call me while she was intoxicated and we were in Acapulco, and said we needed to get together and work this out, of course I've been back almost a month, I called her and invited her and son to join us for Thanksgiving, but she was going to her moms. I didn't see my son or gson the entire Thanksgiving weekend. She has things the way she wants it now, comes and goes as she pleases, spends money like she's wealthy, bounces checks, covers the bounced check with a charge card. The following week she's out buying new carpet for her new house that's only 3 years old, WTF? I just hate to see my son lose it all, but he knows how I believe in saving for hard times and he won't confront her...obviously. Help, I've fot a freakin mouse in my house, did I mention I HATE anything that creeps or crawls! That little fkr is apparently so small or he won't stick to one of those tacky strips. I opened a drawer about a week ago and it had nibbled into 4 of those flavor packets you pour into water, that chit was everywhere, but there weren't any droppings. Then I looked in the basket where I keep hubby's baby chocolate bars, several were chewed, one entire Twix was gone, so I guess it's growing. I pushed my couch over and there was droppings, so I placed another one of those tacky packs, vacuumed the chit up and checked for days no more poop, so I thought he'd eaten some of that green poison block and died, but no, I opened one of my trash drawers today and apparently it fell into the trash and tore the bag up trying to get out, plus it must have scared the chit out of him, cause droppings were everywhere. How disgusting and nasty is that in my kitchen. It's on, tonight I'm putting 10 traps out! Betty, are you ok? Have a great day girls!

Ok, not sure where that post went, but I'm not giving up, this one just won't be as long. Sherry, hope you had a better night sleep and are starting to feel better, both physically and mentally :tongue2:. Here's a picture of my tree, only I changed the skirt now to a white one with snow flakes to match my new tree. Big diff between this one and last years.

    Having problems with new clothes

I love my low rise jeans, only since I've lost the weight and had a tummy tuck! At my age, I can't stand pressure around my waist or pants that cut me in the crotch, talk about miserable. I'm totally into comfort, if I find jean that fit better than others, I'll buy two or three pairs. Do you have a Dress Barn close by? They make the most comfortable jeans and they have good sales on their holiday clothes.

    Restaurant card experience

That is strange and definitely means we need to meet! I keep talking about getting a tweaking of the band, but then I enjoy where I am socially now, but if I start to gain, I will take bite the bullet and $$ and get it done. Have a great day!

Sherry, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, espcially this time of year. The thought of losing my band scares the chit out of me! Please keep us informed and know we're her for you, I know that's not much comfort at this time, but like you said, you need to heal first. (((Hugs)))) Kat, I'm interested in the list too, I'm ashamed to admit, but I owe everyone two cards, I don't know what happened, but I never got my cards out last year. My address is the same too, but I'll pass it on again, thanks for taking the time to compile the list.

Carla, I wish you had taken time to speak, I would love to meet. Call me some time when you're this way and we'll do a quick lunch, maybe Uno's. My mom got a fill on the 13th I think it was. Here's a pic of me a few weeks ago.
  17. I think most of us still see ourselves as the largest person in the room, but it does get better. I'm almost four years out and I love going to parties. I have my own Harley and I used to hate going to biker bars because I was always the fat old lady on a Harley, now I love riding up on my bike. Since I'm short, my hubby always parks my bike, I just pull up, snap my fingers and yell, VALET, and he parks my bike. I've included a picture of me a couple of weeks ago at a surprise 40th anniversary party my hubby threw for me.

    Silicone or Saline ?

This is a great poll! I've had two breast reductions and still have puppy dog ear breasts, I'm so very disappointed in my last surgery, (they were 26 years apart, yes I'm old, haha). It was supposed to be a reduction and lift, but because my nipples had already been moved once, my ps was afraid to cut into the scar, WTF, he's a surgeon. I told him the morning of surgery, if you think I need implants, to give me the lift that I'm looking for, do it now, I'm pre authorizing it. Now a year later, I have to schedule implants and still don't know which to get, which is the only reason I haven't had the surgery. Since I'm semi-retired, my hubby and I travel a lot to warm places, and every time I see firm lifted breasts, I think I'm going for the implants as soon as I get home, but I always find a reason to put it off, but I think I'll make that call today, if I only knew which one, hmmmm saline or silicone? Oh yeah, what about size, I'm still falling out of the sides of a DD, though I am down from the H cup that I was a year ago. Do you think the implants will pull the skin up and taut? And one more thing, I also had lipo on the back flanks and on the sides of my breast, that has to be "touched up" too. I told my ps I wanted him to use that new sonar type lipo this time and he said it cost $400 extra just for the "special" machine, any suggestions? Sorry for the long post.

First fill today got questions! Help!

Gee, my last fill was 1-1/2 ago, haha, my advice, follow your doctor's orders. Some doctors suggest more than 24 hours liquids, my doctor says liquids 24 hours too. I never had any pain related issues after any fills, even the first year which was NOT under flouro, so not sure why you are. I did have a panic attack during my first fill, four years ago, I hate needles. Good luck on your journey.

    Having problems with new clothes

My jeans don't go down to 4, but they vary from 14, 12, 10's. Yesterday I had on a pair of 14's figured they'd be comfy, NOT! They were the regular waisted, I thought I'd come unglued by the time I got home. I thought because they were a little big the "regular" waist wouldn't bother me. I felt like my entire body was in a vise, LOL. I love my 10s and 12s that are low waisted, never again with those waist fitted jeans. I'm on a mission to find some corduroy type jeans today, they're so much more comfy.

Sherry, I'm so sorry you're having issues AGAIN. Like you, I so hoped this fill would be ok and maybe it was a swollen esophagus issue. It's so scary not to be able to breathe or to feel like you're drowning. I hope they can see you on Monday....hugs!

Sherry, what an ordeal, what a long day! I'm glad you're back home, safe and warm! We stopped at a "Days Inn" on the way to Floriday years ago, and I slept in my clothes, because I still believe the sheets had not been changed from the last "many" visitors. I didn't sleep a wink, it was awful. Well gals, hope everyone has their shopping done, I figued there must be some reason everyone's missing. Later gals!

Kathy, I would suggest you check in the "insurance and financing" section of forums. You will probably find a wealth of info there, as well as other forums, such as the introduction section or general lapband questions. Good luck on reversing their decision.
