Surgery July 18. Down 32 pounds (35 Pre-op)

I changed deodorants 5 days post surgery and that has really helped.

The OTC ones have way too much sugar and are basically a glorified candy bar- Here is a recipe I have made a million times for all natural protein/energy bars- You can add chips, raisins etc as you like but they are yummy and all natural...
- 1 cup organic Almond Butter
- 1 cup Peanut Butter
- 1 1/2 cup organic local honey
- 2 cups of Protein powder
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- 1/4 cup flax seeds
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (optional)
- add almond butter, Peanut Butter and honey to a bowl and microwave for 90 sec. Carefully mix until smooth. Then add remaining ingredients.
- Pour /spread into a baking glas or baking sheet and cover-Referigerate over ***ht. THey will get a bit mushy in heat so etiher eat cold or freeze right before going out so they dont mush up. You can also use vanilla powder instead of chocolate and add chips or raisins etc...
How much Protein per bar?
- 1 cup organic Almond Butter

I wish that I really knew how difficult it would be to take in fluids post surgery. I am only a week out and I have faith it will get better, but right now I'm really struggling.

My surgery is tomorrow, too. I'm packed and nervous. I wish all my sleeve buddies good luck and many prayers.

I just want to wish you good luck and God speed on your surgery tomorrow. You'll do just great!

Hi. I'm a first grade teacher at a private school in Maryland. I've only told 1 of the teachers who is a very dear friend. I will have my surgery this Wednesday. I figure I'll tell if I'm asked and no one will ask. It's a very small school, so if 1 person knows everyone will (teachers and parents).

Sending prayers up now!

Hi Marty,
I'll be having surgery on July 18th and have been feeling very much the same as you do. I know you are a teacher and I am, too, and I wonder if I was working now and had something else to focus on that it might be easier not to continually focus on the surgery. I suspect that everyone gets nervous, and even though we know we need this surgery to aid in our long term health, what we are doing is not a small thing and it seems only natural to have some feelings of apprehension as the date gets closer. Don't stop expressing the way that you feel. I do have faith that everything will go well for you and me. We'll soon be on the other side of this journey!

Pamela,
I think it would be fun to just show up and see the looks on everyone's faces. I'm sure your family will be happy for you once they see the great results.

I didn't gain weight for the insurance approval, but now I am trying not to lose too much more weight preop. I have lost 27 lbs. on the high Protein, low carb diet that my surgeon put me on and am in danger of going below 35 BMI. I was told that if I go below that the insurance co. may refuse to pay after surgery.

I just relized I'm on the list twice. My original date was changed from July 16 to July 18.
THANKS.

Hi! I'm in Gaithersburg,MD. I'll be sleeved on July 18 at Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville.

Thank you for posting. This is the way I'm feeling too. I won't be sleeved until July 18. I feeling like I'm mourning for the person i wish I was, someone who could lose and keep off weight without this surgery. But here we are, and I know that both you and I will be great because of the help the sleeve will give us. I'll say a prayer that you fly through surgery well. See you on the other side!

The Emotional First Aid Kit is a great book. I bought it last week and read it in 2 days. I only wish that I would have bought a paperback copy (I would like to be able to highlight some of it). I'll read it again soon.

Sounds strange. I,too, teach 6 & 7 year olds. I don't think people know all the work that it entails. They probably gave that answer thinking that most patients may work office jobs. I hope he gives you the OK to go away. I know how much teachers need the break!!

My surgery date is July 18th and I'm already sick of Protein shakes. I've been on 1 shake and 2 meals per day since April 19. I can't bear to think of a 5 week liquid diet (2 weeks before surgery, 3 weeks after). My doctor is very strict with this eating plan.
I would love tojoin you guys on Facebook. How do I do it?

I was just approved and my surgery date is July 16. I will also have my gallbladder removed , so that will be my story as to why my eating has changed.

I have autoimmune Urticaria (hives). and I take 7 10 antihistamines a day. On my last allergist visit, she suggested that WLS could possibly "reboot"" my system and the hives may go away. I hope so, I've had them for 14 years. Getting rid of hives and weight loss would be heaven on earth!

Finally submitted to insurance.Called and insurance approval is pending. I have a tentative surgery date of July 16!!
Thanks for letting me vent and your replies.

NO, they won't give me a date until they submit to insurance and they haven't submitted yet!!

I'm more frustrated now. It's been a week since everythin was completed and the insurance company says that they haven't received anything yet. I guess it was telling when in the office they told me that hopefully I'll be able to get my surgery sometime this summer. I did everything quickly so I could be scheduled as soon as my insurance was submitted and approved. I guess its all a waiting game now.

We have our pictures on our school website.
One of my parents told me that I should have my picture changed. ( I think it was a complement.)
Keep up the good work!
