    Port site pain

I had on and off port pain for a year. It was never severe. Even now the port area is sensitive, has never caused a problem!

    banded 2-3 or more years

3 years on 7/13!!!! lost 155-gained back 20-just got a fill last week 4 pounds down. Love my band but need to keep my focus. My goal is size 12. Will be back there very soon-They fit, but tighter that I like.
  5. 3 years out I just got another fill. After being at goal for 2 years I started to gain. Who knows why, but I had lost restriction. Went on liquids for 5 days to give my pouch a rest and no go. Doc gave me .5 and restriction is back-It is a wonderful feeling. I went through this whole guilt thing, feeling I could lose the regained pounds without restriction, but realized I can;t-that's why i have a band. In this past week I have lost 4 pounds, so I am off and running!
  6. Yes, yes, yes. The first fill often does not provide restriction. Call your doc's office today and set up an appointment according to his instructions. Having the band is only part of the deal, without enough fills it won't help!

    Mushies Stage Recipes

Made a wonderful shake today. I sliced up a mango into chunks.I added a third of a cup of milk, a tablespoon of splenda and a tablespoon of chia seeds. The chia seeds add omega and fiber and naturally thicken the shake. All of this into my magic bullet. Blend, chill for 15 minutes to allow the shake to thicken. So good!:scared2:

Do you still eat out after banding?

I am three years out. This is an example of what I ate last time I visited a restaurant. 1 glass of wine first (fine with my doc). Slice of garlic bread, small side ceasar salad and an italian sausage. I drink my wine first and then very slowly eat the food. I am usually the last to finish even though I eat the least. Sometimes I order a regular meal, but try to choose something that reheats nicely, so that I can enjoy my special meal several times! Looking at the appetizer menu is a good idea-unfortunately so many are fried and just don't sit well with me.:scared2:

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"

I haven't had a fill for 2 years, but I feel like I am slowly losing my restriction (over the course of 6 mos or so. I have an appointment for a fill this week. I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else. I did 5 days of liquids to make sure I was not stretching my pouch etc and that went fine. No pain or pbing or vomiting, just can eat too much and pretty much any food. Still have little restriction, but I am so worried about being too tight which seems to be the beginning of the end for a good many lapbanders. Anyone else have a similar experience?
  10. He is great! I have lost 155 pounds. His fills never hurt and he always seems to get them right where they need to be. Gotta love him!
  11. If you needed a pace maker to regulate your heart and preserve your health would you have the same feelings? Being overweight is a medical condition not a personality trait. Only you can determine if a band is right for you but the treatment is there for those who need and want it. Thank goodness!
  12. Two years ago today I had my LB surgery. I had already lost 50 lbs preparing for surgery. I lost an additional 100+ pounds in the first year. I have maintained my weight loss and vary between 175 and 180. I used to wear a 26. Now I wear a 12. There are so many things I can do now. Tomorrow I go river tubing. When my friend invited me to go, I accepted, commenting I had always wanted to tube but never could because I was too big! In 10 days I leave for Europe. I don't have to dread the airplane seat, the seatbelt extender, the blistered feet and the limitations of moving around by foot when you are heavy. With my lapband I know I can be satisfied sampling a bit of this and that. I am sure I will save money on food! I will probably share meals with DH. I would do it again in a minute, it is the best health related decision I have made in my life. Hope your journey is as wonderful as mine.

    !55 gone forever

I have maintained my weight at 175 for about a year! My high weight was 330. Today I am a size 12 (from a 26). My hips have gone from 58 to 38. I am more relaxed about my eating. I try to make good choices and usually do. The only thing I have to avoid is eating right before bed. This sometimes causes reflux or sliming and feels like my food has not digested at all in the morning, That aside I can eat everything in moderation. I usually use some sort of sauce with my meat. I still have to remind myself to eat small bites and to eat slowly. My most difficult challenge is to keep myself from eating when I am not really hungry. Today I had a huge NSV! I have practiced yoga for about 3 years. Today my instructor asked me to model some positions for others in the class. It is the athletic triumph of my life!!!! I have never been good at any physical activity but that is finally changing. We can do it!!!!!
  14. Don't forget, small bites, chew well. Put down the fork or food between bites and avoid liquid calories. Back to basics!

    !55 gone forever

Believe me-I felt the same way you do now-I have many weight loss failures in my past-but thankfully the band was just what I needed. You will do it too!
  16. I can eat everything except for dry meat. I often use a "sauce" with my meat. I use things like gravy, salad dressing or tsatzigi (sp?), which is a greek yogurt with cucumber and garlic. Everything else in moderation. I have to use caution with bread and Pasta more than other foods-I have to remind myself small bites and eat slowly!

How many calories do you consume at goal?

I eat about 1800 calories a day. This varies with my level of exercise. Some days I eat 1200, other days 2000. My appetite seems to vary a lot day by day, so I listen to my body. I have maintained this weight for close to a year.

    Scared... possible complication

Hang in there-sending my wishes that it all works out.
  19. Of course it varies by person, but the stats say about 70% of your excess weight is average. I started at 330 and am now at 180, I should be 150 to have a bmi less than 25. That a little over 80% for me. I feel comfortable where I am at, but will probably lose a little more. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I hope it gives you a rough idea of what to expect.

    Also need "at goal' mentor!

I weigh every day and record it into a graph. I don't worry if I go up and down a little from day to day as long as the trend is in the right direction. Donna
  25. I have been banded for 11 months. I have lost 90 pounds since surgery and 55 pounds preparing for surgery. I would like to mentor someone who has to lose 100 pounds or more. I am a 46 year old woman. I have been married for 21 years and have an 18 year old disabled son. I am a high school anatomy teacher. I have been teaching for 16 years. I live in western MA. I have lost 144 pounds from a high of 330. My goal is to wear a size 12 and am within 20 pounds of this goal. I am also concerned about my approaching maintenance and coud use a wise experienced buddy to guide me.
