shrinkydinkme got a reaction from ConnieSings in August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
Hi all my august sleever friends! Home happy and feeling well day 4. Down 8 pounds since surgery day. I think I am one of those people who feel guilty because I didn’t expect it to be this easy. liquids are not a problem (moved from medicine cups to Playtex toddler cup yesterday) http://www.target.com/p/playtex-coolster-tumbler/-/A-14126369#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink easier then the medicine cups just remove the non spill plastic piece. Pain in tummy where incisions are when moving but not when still so resting letting others wait in me, sipping and enjoying the Olympics! The tips on this forum were so helpful... although I was over prepared and did not need many of the items it was nice to know. Also the gas pains, gurgles, nausea etc. all info helped me know what to expect. I did not read anywhere about the patch for nausea they wanted to put on after surgery, I was coherent enough to refuse it. I had warn one on a cruise 2 months ago and had awful side effects. (7 days of severe vertigo after removal) So I was given Zofran IV and used the morphine pump the first 10 hours to sleep the nausea off. Other then that all seemed like what I had read.

It is time to do this FOR YOU so that you can be healthy, active and enjoy life the way God designed you too. I was sleeved 4 days ago and it is so much easier then I expected. I have to admit as I lay on the table waiting to go into surgery I thought about running... but I had no idea how to get out of there and would have looked so silly in my blue hair net and matching booties and beautiful gray paper gown.... So I stayed there and no regrets! The doctors would not do a sleeve on you if they did not think you would benifit. Trust them... God is going to use them to help bring you the freedom you desire and He has waiting for you to grasp.

    Hi All,
Had surgery 8/1 and all went very well except spent extra night due to a slow heart rate caused by anesthesia. They used lidocaine in abdominal wall to minimize tenderness but think it affected Vegal nerve and my HR got pretty low. I do not remember anything from being wheeled out of pre/op till I woke in room. Pain minimal and well controlled. Everything everyone said is absolutely true!!
WALK/ USE GASX/ GO slow .... Tiny sips... I have had zero nausea...didn't need any fancy mouth stuff just brush teeth and rinse a lot. sleep when you can. For me most of the discomfort was and still is Gas .
Each day the swelling goes down and sipping gets better. The goal is 4 oz per hr but day one all I could do was 1 oz per hr but have doubled it every day since till I am almost doing that . Protein is very filling and harder thus slower. My new best friends are my ice packs. Very comforting... Hope everyone else is getting better, I know I would try and log on but fall asleep before I could join in. In fact gotta nap now!:-)

@Mom_24: What you just said about God not wanting us to overcome obstacles alone is so true. Having faith is so important.

Loleata- I think all of us go thru these same questions or similar ones when trying to decide if this is right for you. I can't tell you how to feel but I can share my thoughts for me. Obesity is a disease just like alcoholism, diabetes, or anything else. If I didn't treat this disease the best way I can then wouldn't it be abusive to what god gave me? He wants me to live a full life and if this treatment plan is going to do it then so be it.
As for if I am ready to do this, and have I really tried everything. Well I've been overweight for 20 years and been on about a zillion diets. And yeah I've lost but I've also gained it all back too many times to count. This is going to help me KEEP it off. I think your sister is going to see someone that is strong enough to take action to change! This is not easy. There are going to be rough Patches and you r still going to have to do the work to make it successful. So I think she will b proud of you! Goodluck!!

In my opinion, it is just fear and guilt affecting you, and we know that God loves us as individuals far more than we can ever even imagine, and His love is not about fear, and He is not an accuser. I think it is perfectly normal to have second thoughts, because all of us want to be able to do this without assistance. One thing I think God wants us to learn is that we can't overcome obstacles all alone, and every single person has his or her own set of issues and needs help and support for them. food and how it affects our bodies just happen to be ours. As far as self-mutilation is concerned, I am fairly confident He is referring the ancient practice of marking oneself to identify with a pagan deity, which I am fairly certain you are not trying to do. ((((HUGS)))

I too started to gain after my first child 20 years ago and am done with the suffering and ready for the new freedom - knowing my faith is not in the power of man but God who is with us- the surgeons and He has provided this tool to set us free!

Im 23 and 5'3"....So I recently went shopping and found that I am finally in regular size clothes!!! WoooHooo!!! My sleeve date was May 1st. Starting weight 257-18w & 2x tops---today 199- ..........14 & 16 REGULAR JEANS & L tops!!!! Notice I also hit Onderland!!!!! I am currently in a stall and have been for at least a week or so! I try not to weigh my self everyday... for the last 2 days I've worn dresses! I never thought I would but they look amazing! As you can tell I'm very proud of my self. It wasn't but maybe 6 weeks ago I was on here crying thinking I wasn't going to drop anymore weight...I have stalled ALOT!!! But hey slow and steady is fine with me. I have noticed I'm starting to have extra skin in my breast area...SRY TMI!!!!! I will have plastics sometime in the near future after I hit my goal. I'm shooting for 160-----140 would be amazing----who knows... Im going to let my body decide. My husband loved the old me, but is wild about the new me.... I do sometimes "miss" food....I hate the uncomfortable feeling when I take that 1 last bite (I still haven't learned)! I haven't conquered "head hunger" My enemy....chips (Pringles & Cheeto-Puffs)...in the last 3 months I have quit my job, went back to school(full-time), strengthened my relationship with my hubby and son! I'm trying to finish my basics so I can get into the Petrolleum Engineering program. Before the sleeve I was to tired to do anything... I worked full time 50+ hours...I wasn't in control of my life...I am now...What have I learned... No matter the size or shape I am...pretty or not...I love me for me and want to be healthy for me and my family!!! I do not regret my sleeve at all. At times when I ate to much and was in pain I would probably tell you different but it has been absolutely life changing!!!!! I'm sorry for all the extra info I have crammed in here I just felt like I had so much to share with the world and you guys, I knew, would be happy for me and listen!!! Future sleevers-don't second guess your self...And when you hit that stall get on here and talk to someone...there is so many motivational stories on here that will help you get through!!!

Was skinny until I had babies then just kept adding on pounds. Taking a 1 yr. radical sabatical to focus on establishing this new lifestyle and to take care of myself instead of everyone else. Surgery is in 5 days.... Aug. 1st (same day as Nina88 but different hospital) Dr. Chin had a surgery cancel right before my appointment today and gave the date to me so I do not have to wait until September. SO EXCITED! Thanks all for your support... now to pack my hospital bag, stock the house with food for the family and my post op diet, finish up laundry and house work and get ready to be a big looser....
