  1. Missmarbe' date=' I feel the same way you do! VST is one of the biggest links in my success. I always feel inspired again after I've come here!

You're doing great. Just keep on doing what you know you're supposed to do! You will get to your goal.. 51 pounds lost already is GREAT!! (I feel like Tony the Tiger now!) :)[/quote']

Thanks!!! I am going to get a scale. I have to stay focused.

  2. I know I can do it but right now I feel like I'm failing. Mostly because I don't have a scale and don't track what I eat daily. I have had a lot going on and have not planned well. Hopefully I will get back on track and lose more weight by my birthday. The more I get on VST, the better I feel and the more I lose. I guess I need to make more time for my great support system!!!

  3. Hello everyone. I haven't posted because I've been busy. I can't update my weight because I haven't weighed myself since may 7th! I need to purchase a big girl scale. I feel good but I find myself very dizzy Luke dehydrated in the morning since starting my new job. It is more physically demanding (Floor nurse, 12 hour shift) vs my old job sitting at a desk all day.

  4. I recieved a bill in the mail and an EOB from my insurance stating I owe $53,000 for my VSG!!!!!! I called the hospital where I had the surgery , also where I worked until May 8th, and they said that called the insurance and they stated they paid their maximum amount. They also said that some of what I had done was denied. My surgeon's office assured me that they will look into this and resolve then call me back. This is so nerve racking because I wouldn't have had VSG at the time I did because I don't want to have to pay this much for it. If anybody has anybody has any pointers to how to fight this, I will welcome your advice. Between this and student loans, I could have purchased a house!!!!!! I love my sleeve but Gee Whiz!!!

  5. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out. I have always liked almost ALL foods. i guess that's how I got obese in the first place. My taste have drastically changed. I was a huge sweet eater. I haven't had a thing sweet. I'm not even tempted. They had frsh, hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts at my job and I acted like they weren't even there! I didn't eat bananas before surgery but now, they are fine. I wouldn't say I eat "healthy foods" but I do focus on eating Protein more because I can't stand the Protein Shakes. By the time I eat my meat for protein, i am usually too full for veggies. But I do check the labels and look for callories, carbs and such.

  6. I use a straw. I'm 6 weeks post op. I had problems sipping and my friend who was sleeve told me to try the "forbidden" straw. It actually helped me get hydrated!!!!! I think they tell you not to use because of air in the straw and it will cause gas, also you may gulp down to much at a time. I took it very slow and had no problems.

  7. Hello. I was sleeved on 3/21. We are experiencing the same things also!!! I can make my Water goal on some days and some days not. I have yet to partake of 60 grams of Protein :( I try my best though. I agree, a lot of those Protein Shakes are gross and I have a lot of mixes left because of that fact. Be careful of what protein "shots" you purchased because alot of them have protein that is not absorbed readily in our bodies. Per this site and my nutritionist, look for whey protein, sot protien, and rice protien.

  8. When I went to the doctor for pre-op, the NUT suggested I buy the nutrition shake mixes they had in the office. I did. I purchsed a box each of vanilla and chocolate BariCare sn\hake mixes and 7 pouches of each strawberry and Orange Chike shake mixes. I don't like any of them. To make matters worse (or better , I can't tell) my mom went to Sam's club and purchased a 5lb bag of Protein Shake mix and a tub of Protein Shake mix. I have this stuff coming out of ears. I am about to start soft fooads in a few days and I have purchased RTD shakes that I can tolerate to drink for Breakfast. Someone please help me on what I can do with all rhis shake mix!!!!!!!

** I'll be 5 weeks post op on Tuesday

  9. I had planned all these "last meals" but didn't get to go. It seemed the people who were supposed to go with me were more dissappointed than I was. I made up in my mind that once I got sleeved, on 3/21/12, I wouldn't let food bother me. When I get to the stage where I can have solid foods and basically no restriction, I will learn to eat in moderation. I can have my favorite foods again, just not as much. Yea eating a whole 12 inch sub the day before my pre-op would have lovely but I don't regret not doing it.

  10. So I recieved a call from my PCP on Friday evening saying that the labs I had on 4/12 for my 1 month post op were very low in potassium, magnesium and phosphate. She left a v-mail but she was concerned and was urging me to call her office or my surgeoum on Monday. Me, being a nurse and knowing how this can effect the body, called my bariatric coordinator who them contacted my surgeon. After reviewing my labs, he attributed my low labs to low B12 and I have to get a B12 shot on Tuesday. Now my B12 and Iron levels were low before surgery but my surgeon was sure that they would be back to "normal" because of the super Vitamins. I have been weak and a lilttle dehydrated since surgery. I'm not disappointed about having to get the shot or even having to get an iron infusion, if needed. I just want to feel better. Long story short, take your vitamins and keep up with your labs. Ask for copies, so you can know if you flucuate. I never new my levels until right before surgery so I know this is not a malabsorbation issue caused by my sleeve.

  11. Very cool, Dr. Salzberg banded me in Norfolk VA in 2008. She was very nice back then, with a different team though. I recall going in for surgery day and expecting my DR Wolgmuth (sp) and she came in and I said hello and she started talking and then said so anything I can do for you and I said.... ummm no but when can I see my Dr? She said you are looking at her! Haha I was suprised bc I had never met her. She did a great job, even though it was removed last week and revision to sleeve with my dr now in Texas

Different Salzberg. This one is a male.
