  3. I thought maybe it was just me, but I'm discovering now that my sleeve is incredibly picky in the morning... This morning I tried to drink my coffee, the same as I do every morning, and he revolted and told me no. I didn't vomit, but I knew he was unhappy the second the coffee hit. It's been happening a lot lately actually. Yesterday morning I tried to eat a scrambled egg with spinach about 45mins after I got up and got about 2 bites in before he left me know that it wasn't gonna happen... Anybody elses sleeve not a morning "person"? How do you ease into your daily eating with a tummy who doesn't like food or drink when it's empty?
  4. The thing is, it's not so much the physical stop and fear of vomiting that'll stop you, it's more the fact that eating will become a chore. You'll have no appetite for the first several months, and if you do chances are it's reflux or head hunger. You will have no desire to eat and will find yourself eating more out of necessity or habit than actual hunger. But you do need to seek professional help to get a handle on your psychological issues with food, because it is definitely possible to sabotage your success.
  5. It's physically impossible to over-eat - doing so causes you to vomit. As for eating the wrong foods, some things your sleeve won't like anymore, and other things will come easier but not as easy as they were. Your sleeve is a tool, and just like a hammer will break a bone if you don't use it properly, it is possible, albeit unlikely, for you to not be successful with the sleeve. That being said, I highly recommend seeking professional help to overcome your binge eating and over eating issues before your surgery and after.

    Egg Mcmuffin

You can't have the muffin, but you can order the egg and the meat and just eat that
  8. I dunno what the hell I was thinking when I packed my lunch box this morning, except now I'm thinking I should have packed it last night instead of in a hurry this morning... I grabbed one of my freezer Breakfast burritos, OK, no problem there, I grabbed my spinach, mozzerella and feta dip and a handful ritz to dip in it, no problem there, threw in two bottles of Water, good, but then something went horribly wrong! I tossed in a snack bag of doritos (don't even get me started on how the hell these made it into my house since I didn't buy them) and then I tossed in a snack bag of Synders Honey Mustard and Onion pretzel pieces... WTF was I thinking? Is my body subconsciously trying to tell me I need more carbs? I would have never packed a lunch box like this pre-op. I know I've been craving crunchy stuff lately, but that's what I have Smart Pop at my desk for... Thank goodness I have Protein shakes in my over-head cabinet at work, otherwise I'd be starving today - and no amount of empty calories, carbs, or crunchy foods can satiate the hunger of a person who's had no protein all day...
  9. Oh I did that as soon as I opened it up to pull out my breakfast burrito.. Well, except the Snyders, that's like my weakness and my occasional "I want something bad" snack.. But they're put away where I can't get to them.. LOL
  10. If you don't have a fridge/freezer in your rig and do wind up having to stop at FF places, remember that you can order just a chicken breast or just scrambled eggs or just bacon... Don't tempt yourself with the bread or other stuff, just get what you can eat... I go through McDonald's a few times a month for breakfast and I get two orders of scrambled eggs, or an order of scrambled eggs and a couple slices of bacon. Edited to add - I don't eat all of it in one sitting, I save half for my morning snack a couple of hours later...

    Saving Up

    Your insurance doesn't cover it?

    A Few Questions...

The hair loss has nothing to do with the anesthesia and everything to do with not being able to take in as much Protein and other nutrients as you're taking in before surgery. Your body has to go through an adjustment period until it gets used to your new eating habits, and there are things you can do to slow the hair loss, but it's inevitable. As for the catheter, any time you go under general anesthesia they put one in, whether you know it or not. You'll also have a breathing tube down your throat, but you won't know about that either. They'll take both out in the recovery room before you're coherent. Don't sweat it

    Stupid Mistake!

I did the same thing a few weeks before my surgery, and actually several other times as well as my family wanted to know exactly what was going to happen and it was easier to show them than to try and explain. A few weeks before I had my son I started watching videos of epidurals and c-sections (just in case) so that I could mentally prepare myself for what was about to happen. It's a coping mechanism.

    I Can Not Stop Cooking

I did this also - I made all sorts of yummy things for my family that I couldn't eat myself... It gets better, and eventually as you get farther out you'll start making healthier meals for you family that you can eat too... I've noticed now at 7mos out that just about every meal I make for myself and my son is pretty darn healthy.. Even the garlic mashed potatoes I made last night were made with low fat mayo and fat free milk. Hang in there!
  15. I'm going to have to try the saltines thing... I never was much of a morning eater pre-surgery, but I never had problems drinking my coffee... So weird!
  16. Teenagers can be such a$$holes sometimes! I stayed at my parents house after surgery just so my mom could help when she got home from work, but low and behold my 16 y/o nephew was such a blessing! He took my son every day after school and played with him for an hour or two so I could nap.
  17. I came home from the hospital about 4 hours before my son came back from his dads. He was about 16mos then. I had him all by myself the entire two weeks post-op before I went back to work and it was fine for us. He was pretty self sufficient, climbed the stairs by himself, climbed into bed himself, up on the couch... I pretty much just let him run free the whole time (he was confined the to kitchen/living room with a baby gate) and didn't worry about picking up the mess until nap time and bed time. Your kids are older so I'm sure its probably harder, ur maybe you could ask your son to help mommy with the little ones? Just tell him that mommy's not feeling well and really neeeds his help until she feels better. He'll feel super important and useful, like he's helping you get healthy too...
  18. OK so I'm a few days (3) shy of 7mos post-op but I don't care.. I have to share! Starting/current/difference 278#/185#/ -93# GONE! 24/26/12/14/ -5 sizes down! -47" total! Now that's inspiration to keep going! I'm officially 35# from goal! Slide show below...
  19. Oh contrare mon friar - I have oodles of loose skin, you should see my bat wings! Next time I do my youtube VLOG (see my signature for the link) I'll show my sggy skin. I'll be posting my 7mo post op video probably Sunday so keep an eye out.
  20. It seems like within 30-45mins of eating anything I start to get SUPER sleepy... Like sitting at my desk and falling asleep while waiting for someone I just called to answer the phone sleepy... I have a heavily phone intensive job and I've caught myself falling asleep mid-sentence trying to explain something to a student. This morning for Breakfast I had a "turkey sausage" (Not real sausage, just ground turkey and some spices - I make it at home) burrito (only about 1/3 of the tortilla) - 3 hours later I had a yogurt with some strawberries and about a tbsp of granola for texture. Within 30mins of each of these I was falling asleep at my desk. When this first started happening I thought it was my blood sugar, but I've had blood-work done several times, each time it comes back normal. has anyone else experienced anything similar? And if so, what is it and how do I prevent it?
  21. 93# down, 35# to go! 7# from the century club!

  22. I just wanna know how you got the title Sarcasm Specialist, and who I have to send chocolate to make that my permanent title...
  23. If you can chug I'd say chug - otherwise get the unflavored unjury and put it in a yogurt or similar small snack that's easy to eat. Also, the EAS RTD drinks are pretty good with no funky after taste, and Publix brand Protein powder, Market Wise I think? That's not bad either.
  24. Publix protein powder really isn't that bad - no funky aftertaste... And the EAS Myoplex original isn't bad either... I got it in French vanilla and I actually like it. 2g sugar, 20g carbs, 42g protein and tasty!
  25. And you can have 3 meals and 3 snacks or 6 small meals, however you want to look at it.
