1000-1400 Cal/day At 3 Months Post Op
isntsheclever: you're not alone on this. My NUT also told me that to keep my body burning calories I should be getting around 1200 for someone with my BMR and that she didn't care how many calories I added as long as it was protein. Once I upped my protein (and the calories went from 850 to 1200) my month long stall broke and I started losing again. Go figure :-)

The Start Of A New Life.
congratulations on your decision! I pray that my husband would do this for himself and us but he says he's 70 so why bother? *sigh* Best of luck on your journey!

What Are You Looking Forward To?
I want to be able to keep a clean house. I would love to be able to keep a pretty flower garden and maybe even some vegetables. I've been so disabled for so long I am having a hard time coming up with a "I wanna do" list. pitiful.

Did Surgery Make Your Period Come Earlier And Stronger?
I was post-menopausal but had been spotting off and on for a few months prior to the VSG. After the surgery my period came back.... and it has been going now for 3 months. I took my sainted mother's advice and told my PCP who was concerned enough to order a sonogram which showed an enlarged uterus which had him send me to a gynecologist who did a biopsy and found that I have endometrial uterine cancer. I go Tuesday to the gynecological oncologist to see what is to be done. Go figure.

Still Taking Meds....?
I am. My PCP changed them from Bisoprolol/HCG to just the Bisoprolol (the HCG is a diuretic and when I told him about the horrible leg cramps I was getting every night, he suggested that it may be the diuretic that was causing it... he was right) . I took myself off the biso last for a few days and my BP was 135/87 but I woke up one night and my heart was beating fast and it kind of scared me so I started taking it again. But... just a couple of days ago my BP was 102/67 and I have been feeling really lethargic & fatigued. I dunno... I suppose I should talk to my doctor again :-)

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?
CowgirlJane: wow. What a great response! I don't think anyone could make the case for the decision to get the VSG better than that. Thanks !

Melting Down
Eggs did that to me until 2 months post op. They're real easy to eat, just hard to digest. I can eat them just fine any way I prepare them now, but if I try to eat two, nope, I get that "urrghhh" feeling.

So Tired Of Hearing...
This week I found out exactly how all my coworkers REALLY feel about my WLS - they are having the annual Wellness weightloss challenge and they won't let me participate because "it would be cheating" . Well well... I guess it just proves again that I made the right decision because I WILL be the biggest loser

Vsg Has Literally Saved My Life (May Be Tmi)
Thanks guys :-) I was upset & scared at first, then I was angry, and now realize it's yet another incident in my life where I can clearly see the hand of God on me. I am truly blessed :-)

Vsg Has Literally Saved My Life (May Be Tmi)
I have been post-menopausal for 5 years. I had started spotting off and on a few months before my VSG but after surgery I have been having a full-fledged period like, every 2 weeks ! So... I followed my mother's advice (she's always right) and talked to my PCP about it. He didn't like the sounds of my symptoms and ordered an ultrasound. That showed that my uterus is enlarged and the walls were thickened. The PCP sent me to a gynecologist. She did a biopsy and I got the results today - I have endometrial uterine cancer. I now have an appointment with an oncologist and I'm pretty sure I'll be just fine (and lose more weight too ! If my hormones hadn't been stirred up by getting the VSG, I would have been content with putting up with the occasional spotting for a long, long time.... more than likely, too long. So thank you Sleevie ! And thank You God ! -Sheila

Sleeve stretch?
that's kind of scary bout_it. You're over 4 weeks post-op and you have to eat and drink or you will not only lose weight, you'll lose your health and possibly your life. Have you told your doctor ?

Wish I Would Have Never Done This!
*hug* sorry you're feeling bad. It will get better. Right now you have to work at getting fluid in. You have to. Suck on popsicles or just sip on plain water, but do it. Being hydrated will make you feel a lot better. If you can't, because of pain or nausea, don't let yourself go too long in that state - call the doctor.

I Miss My Food
It does get better. Really. Trust me! *sigh* ok, I too have food issues. Three months post-op and I am still missing being able to comfort myself with food. But, being that I'm sleeved, I CAN'T ! And guess what ? That's a good thing. So a toast to the sleeve ! Long may it reign ! heh

A Before & After
Really cool how you're wearing the same top because it shows beautifully exactly what has changed/shrunk on your body. I'm afraid that won't work with the next 60 lbs because the top will fall off you

It Doesnt Help When....
... when people at work (well, one individual in particular) keeps offering me food and then says "oh, right, you can't eat that can you" . One of these days I'm going to eat everything he offers me - atleast one bite of it

Backup Plan: Gastric Bypass
Maybe your surgeon was just trying to tell you that things can go wrong but even if it does, you'll be ok ? Yeah, it would have me freaked out too, but you're probably going to be just fine.

Ugh! I Hate My Drain, Part 2!
You poor thing! I was in the hospital 2 nights and they removed my drain before I went home on the 3rd day. It felt weird when they removed it but not very painful. I don't know why you would have to wait for a doctor to remove it .... the nurse yanked mine out. Anyhow, hope you get it taken care of tomorrow (do NOT let them delay you again!).
