  1. just pack them away in a box labeled "1X clothes" or whatever and forget about them. When you run into them again during a move or spring cleaning a year from now I bet you'll be able to get rid of them

    This Will Happen To You!

Thanks for the encouraging word :-) I have never been a size 10. I don't know how I got past it (I mean, I was only 6 lbs when I was born :-) but I did. I'm hoping for a size 16. Hoping. Expecting. Attaining :-)

    5 Days Post Op

I had a low grade fever the first day home (I was in the hospital 2 nights) and felt like I had the flu. ugh. Sip your water, be very gentle with yourself (you've just had major surgery!), and follow your nutritionist's guidelines. I was an emotional wreck for the first couple of weeks and was mostly in a rage (I am surprised I am still married It does get better, it really does.

    So Stressed!

bedbugs alone are enough stress (I know, been there, done that, have the scars AND the t-shirt!) let alone dealing with a hoarder (still living with that myself). It sounds like you have decided to break up with him and move on. So.... that should be it. His problems/issues are now his alone and not yours. *hug* be good to you and don't let him shower at your place anymore - he's using your kindness. Gosh, I sound so cold and uncaring. But you're not doing him any favors if you truly are breaking up with him by allowing him to depend on you. Now, if you actually AREN't ending the relationship then this is your chance to set the ground rules for how he has to behave in your residence. Good luck ! bedbugs are little vampires from the pit of hell, for sure

    How Much Can You Eat?

2.5 months post-op typical day: Breakfast - 3 oz carbmaster yogurt,1 hard boiled egg, coffee lunch - 2 oz meat, 1 hard boiled egg, small can of V8 afternoon snack - 5 Ritz crackers, 1 oz cheddar cheese dinner - 3 oz meat, 1/4 cup veggies (if that) dessert - 1/2 cup low fat frozen yogurt Compared to what other people are eating, it looks like a lot. Compared to what I was eating pre-VSG, it's next to nothing. Note: I am not losing weight very quickly but I know that my metabolism is fooched.

    So Hard Not To Compare

eat the apple :-) It's good food! I too have been losing at a snail's pace and just today changed my weightloss "ticker" to show my starting weight as being my highest weight although I was 30 lbs less than that the day of my VSG. I did find that I was eating around 100 carbs a day and up to 1400 calories. Now.. how am I going to lose weight eating that much? duh! So the past couple of days I have cut the carbs to 50 and the calories to 1000. I'm hoping that will help the weightloss. I think it's called "working the sleeve". It really is just a tool.
  7. sleeved 2/13/12, 331 surgery weight, 308 current weight = 23 lbs down in 10 wks I was expecting better but slow is better than none :-)

Ok Class #1 Down 11 2 Go! Need A Little Nudge:)

and that's all most men have to do ! So, lie to yourself : You HAVE to lose 10% of your current weight or you will NOT be approved for surgery !!! do it do it do it !!! hehehe

    Happy Birthday To Me!

    happy birthday :-)
  10. 100% health . I have suffered the "slings and arrows of outrageous" life of a morbidly obese human for my entire life. I was always proud that in spite of it I was healthy and strong and then I got older... the past 15 years have been rough - high blood pressure, foot rebuilt, 3 knee replacements, carpal tunnel release. It's like I hit 40 and *BLAM* down I went. And I could NOT lose weight. I'm sure being obese has held me back professionaly and in my personal life but I, most of the time, didn't let it stop me. Now I was being forced to stop. I think that I am going to find that although my motives are for health that this weight loss journey is going to impact the whole of me - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Bring it on!
  11. yes, please quit smoking. My surgeon refuses to do the VSG on anyone who is still smoking because it almost garauntees that they won't heal correctly and will develop problems (leaks). Anyhow, smoking is stinky (you'll realize this acutely when you do quit) and it ages your skin and, oh yeah, it KILLS you ! I quit a pack a day habit 7 years ago and yes, I still want a stupid cigarette. It is a nefarious addiction. But, unlike a food addiction, we CAN survive without ever touching one of the nasty things again. Be brave, ask your doctor for help, DO IT !

    I Need Some Help..

Kie: fabulous weight loss! Don't "sweat" the gym (heh) - drop your membership and just find something active and fun to do with friends. You sound like you need some self discipline - how about making yourself one promise that contributes to your health.... like, "I will take the stairs from now on"... and when that's an ingrained habit (21 days?) then make yourself another promise... "I will eat Breakfast every day"... and so on. If you blow it, so what? Try again. I do believe it is the struggle to accomplish something that teaches us more than the actual accomplishment. Take responsibility for YOU. *BIG HUG*

    Help Not Loosing Anymore

Yup, dreaded stall(s). It makes you question EVERYTHING - why did I do this to myself? am I really physiologically different than all other humans and the amount of food I consume has nothing to do with how much I weigh? am I eating too much? am I eating too little? should I be pumping Iron? should I try to run? (<-- hahaha, yeah, right... I can still barely walk, but by the grace of God I CAN walk) Rest assured, my love, you WILL lose weight. It may be not at the same pace as others, but it will happen. 90 grams of Protein? That's a lot of protein to try to get in.

    When Did It Hit You?

I am just over 2 months post-op and I am finally thinking, "Hey, this might actually work." It's like I am so afraid to let myself hope because I hate being disappointed. Going through this radical solution is either a great step of faith or insanity. But then, even if I don't lose hundreds of pounds, I *am* losing weight, not gaining, and I'm *not* hungry, and unless all of the other successful VSG posters on this website are delusional I *will* continue to lose weight. And so will you

    Confession Time

I just noticed Paola, that you lost 80 lbs pre-op, which means you have lost over 120 lbs so far on this journey! Yowza! I think your weight ticker should start at your highest weight. What a great accomplishment! Hooray for the sleeve!

    Confession Time

*Big HUG* We have met the enemy and it is us! I have found that even only 2 months post-op I can manage to eat a LOT of calories. So, as I already knew, feeling hunger really has nothing to do with why I eat. I love food! I love the taste first of all, and then I love the texture and temperature. Eating is a very pleasurable past time. The VSG has made me very aware of my relationship with food. Awareness of a problem is always the first step to finding a solution. We are aware!

    Psych Eval--Sike!

hehehe so... you got your psych eval at The Munsters. cool. My husband actually failed his - he has a "bad attitude". No. Really ? hahahahahaha Seriously, the psychologist felt that he would sabotage himself and probably end up dead. Mine went without a hitch, although she did suggest anti-depressants and mood stabilizers more than once. I guess she knows who I'm married to :-)

    Where are the 50s ???

hi all ! I am 55 and was sleeved 2/13/12. I think my weight loss has been slow (like, nonexistent the past month) but then I think "well, it HAS to come off so don't worry". I went to my PCP yesterday and told him about my gouty foot and leg cramps at night and we're going to try removing the diaretic from my blood pressure medication (I wanted to end them totally, but not yet *sigh*). I know it's the high protein diet that is affecting my uric acid levels and I hope I can avoid starting any new meds :-(

Food Food Food And No Idea How To Eat !

3 hours later you're hungry ? sounds normal to me but I am surprised that you are hungry at all so soon post-op. Your protein should be atleast 70g a day. I'd say if you're hungry, eat - a spoonful of peanutbutter or some cottage cheese (whatever you can tolerate at 3 wks out) - just make it protein. Oh, and make sure you are drinking water !

    Something New

Happy birthday to you! Be extra kind to yourself, especially on your birthday, and don't be too sad about not being able to eat "normal" food. *hug*

    I Want This Sleeve!

woo hoo ! Now you get to jump through the flaming hoops of appointments and tests that they make you suffer through before you can get sleeved. Just grit your teeth and smile your way through them all :-)

    Carnie Willson

The article said she got a second Gastric Bypass operation. Um... that's physically impossible.

    Almost 2 Months Post Op

drink more water, add in some veggies, cut down on the cheese (it binds me up terrible), and if you have to start taking metamucil or some other gentle fiber. You don't want to get impacted because that can be a very serious condition :-(
