  1. I lost all of my hair during chemo and it all came back. Then sleeving and it got thin again. I am not sure that it will get better as I am 64 and many on my mother's side were balding. I have very little grey however.
  2. I agree with Sidney Susan, it is much easier than childbirth. Today is the annual Talking Out Of Second Hand Experience day. Pray, relax, enjoy the meds, look forward to jumping higher and running faster.
  3. The co-morbidities should put you over. When you get your psych eval be careful what you say.
  4. Interesting! Now if I can talk my bride into it.... Ok, she is laughing at me.
  5. My granddaughter and I were walking across an intersection. We had the "walk" , red light was stopping traffic...except for one lady on a cell phone. She didn't stop, she didn't slow down, we were invisible to her. I had to pick up my granddaughter and jump out of the way. She kept on going, not looking back, continuing her phone call that was more important than driving. She was totally unaware that she had run a red light and nearly killed 2 people. I wish I had read the license plate.
  6. Awful but I am glad it is not worse for you! My prayers for you and your family and the bills being paid and then some. Texting and driving makes me wacko mad! No stinking message is worth risking your life and the lives of passengers and other people in the other cars! Pull over, give us a break you morons!
  7. I put an "in between " pic in my original post, (third one down), about my much bragged about wife. Sorry if I gush a lot about her. When she comes out on the lanai bringing me coffee in the morning looking like a fashion model I want to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. But I don't because if I am dreaming I don't want to wake up.
  8. Very common, your body isn't done dropping weight. It fluctuates ....down, down, up, down, up, up, down up, down....see a pattern there? Ya, no pattern. Bodies burn fat and muscle and gain fat and muscle. This all effects the scale. What you want is lose fat, gain muscle. During the course of that the scale can go up a bit. Muscle is heavy. Your weight will eventually go down. If lowering your scale numbers is your primary goal you can get an old time non-digital scale that lets you set it at less than zero. That way if the numbers are too high you can just turn them down. If losing fat is your primary goal don't take gaining a pound as a failure. It could, in fact, be a victory in the log run.
  9. I was too cheap to buy a goal suit. I went to Macy's and talked to the row of suits which were all too small for me. "I'll be back and one of you mugs will be mine!" I went back about a month ago and got 2 suits, only they were farther down the rack toward the smaller sizes than the ones I was talking to.
  10. Very much normal. I had 63 years of stuffing myself to overcome....in my head. I think there is some physical hunger that is innate in the body as well. Your gherlin has been cut down and hunger will be lessened but that takes time to kick in. The body doesn't change overnight. It adjusts on it's own timetable.
  11. You guys are getting in the Back To The Future/Peggy Sue Got Married time machine! I used to say, "If I only had this wise old brain in that young body I had back then!" Outside of a little loose skin...it's baaaack!
  12. My wife saved a short and halter top outfit that she wore when we were honeymooners. She brought it out on occasion with the picture of her in it during her many failed diets to motivate herself. She never lost enough. 40 years later, she is finally back into it, thanks to weight loss surgery and her own discipline. She be lookin fine! Edit: Here's the pictures: Age 22: Age 58: Age: 62
  13. Where did you get those? Look great!
  14. I recently had a guest from Alaska. She is of Eskimo origin, a lovely lady. She was a walking chamber of commerce for Alaska. I recently moved to Florida and have enjoyed escaping Ohio winters. I must admit the way she talked about her home state tempted me to consider moving there. I have always liked mountains and beautiful streams. I did 3 days once backpacking, tent camping, and fishing in the Yellowstone region. Fantastic!
  15. Good point. Save up for the second pair, Serendipity. I didn't realize that fat lurks even in feet but it sure do. I went from 13 to 12.
  16. During my depressions in the old days I sometimes just rode it out. I wrote some dark poetry that I wouldn't impose on my worst enemy. It's better to lighten up and choose the happiness. There is a lot to be grateful for if you look for it.
  17. Wow! Way to go! I like New Balance, they always fit me well. What a great purchase! You invested in your health and success. You will make it down to lean and mean for sure. I splurged on the best shoes I could find. I have used them to the max.
  18. I was a bit apprehensive but looking at the overall picture I was more concerned about what my continued obesity would do to me. It has been a year and 5 months since my surgery. If I hadn't gone through with it there is a good chance that I would be dead now. I was going down that fast. Yesterday my wife came out to watch me run up "fat killer hill". It is a steep hill in my neighborhood here in Dade City, Florida. I have 2 1/2 pound weights on both feet and run with a 20 pound kettle bell held out in front and overhead. I run full speed up the hill for 30 seconds and walk down and do it again, 12 times. Deb was smiling like a Cheshire Cat when I was done. She's seen me puffing and panting pre-surgery from just walking up the stairs. Before we got back to the house I was breathing normally. I took a chance with this surgery. I won.
  19. My doc was death on smoking. He would not operate if his tests found smoking. Most of the complications he had to deal with were smoking related. He would send you packing. I am "smoking" now, at least my wife thinks so.
  20. Your brain calls it a stall because of the concept of time. Your body doesn't care about time. It does it's job. It always works for it's own benefit no matter what the conscious brain thinks. The intelligence is built in. The best we can do is follow the guidelines and get tips which is what you are doing. Water, exercise, Fiber, Protein, enough calories are all helpful when you can get them.
  21. Let me know if you need to test an Ipad app.
  22. shhhhhh.....I'm trying to pass for 39...
  23. I have been reading about severe calorie deprevation taking out muscle with fat. When you are a little ways out you begin eating more and the muscle comes back on, increasing the scale report. You have "lifter" in your name. Muscle building makes the scale jump up and down like an angry kangaroo. Let him fume. Water retention from muscle pumps is a given. The fat leaves though, muscle comes back on with it's calorie burning obsession and stands guard against any fat re-infestation.
  24. I have never tried it. Do you think you could just dump some coffee into it to fix it?
