  1. I had the sleeve by Dr. Aceves on 01/13/12. I spoke with him, his internist and his OR nurse- all separately/ individual conversations about getting pregnant after VSG because the primary purpose of this surgery for me, was to reach a healthy weight, get pregnant, have a healthy pregnancy and return to a healthy weight and maintain it. All three of them gave me the same exact answer 8-12 months, if all excess weight has been lost and in maintenance. I don't know if they would give the same advise, as every situation is different. I started off with a BMI of 31 (5'4 and 190lbs). That being said, I should reach goal by 6 months, have two months of maintenance and begin working on pregnancy after 8 months from surgery. Dr. Aceves did recommend meeting with my selected OB before becoming pregnant to have blood work done, increase vitamins (if needed), and voice any concerns, etc. I plan to do this in June 2012.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Has anyone else hit the "3 week stall"? I have! I lost 12lbs the first week, 3lbs the second week and the third week and I gained and lost the same 1lb all week! Irritating, but I'm doing exactly what I should be doing (700-ish calories, 60-70 protein, lots of water). Hopefully next week I start losing again!
  3. Jessica!! How are you? I've been out of recovery since noon today and I'm feeling great! I hope this continues. Tomorrow I start clear liquids. How are you?? Done? Feeling okay?? Keep me posted

    The Final Countdown...

I'm sleeved!! Easy and pretty painless! No pain meds or anything like that. Hopefully this continues. Tomorrow I start clears if I pass my leak test.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm done!!! I'm sleeved!! It was almost totally painless! Tomorrow I will probably be a little sore. Not taking any pain medications and I've been out of surgery for 4 hours now. Good luck everyone else! I try clear liquids tomorrow!

    The Final Countdown...

Exciting!! Hope all is going well! Give us updates when you can!
  7. I'm going to be in Mexicali. Too bad we won't be at the same place! I bought a bunch of soups from Fred Meyer and Trader Joe's and I've also got the Premir Chocolate Protien Shakes, the Isopure in chocolate, some of the EAS Carb Control shakes and a few of the Muscle Milk Light Protien drinks. I generally cook everything from scratch, but I can't see cooking 2 oz of soup or having so much waste. What does your post-op diet look like?
  8. I'm beyond excited! I've got all of my soups and protein drinks bought and ready go to for when I get back! I've made a list of all I need to remember to bring with me... I'm so ready for this! This worst part is the waiting around now. I'm anxious to get it done and over with! I'm so excited for all of the cute clothes I will get to wear this spring Where are you from? Have you done all of your post surgery shopping?
  9. Is your surgery the 13th or is that the date you are leaving? I'm leaving the 12th for pre-op and then surgery on the 13th by Dr. Aceves in Mexico. I'm so excited. There's nothing to be nervous about. These doctors do these surgeries all the time Hang in there and think about how you will be feeling and looking a month from now!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Monday is so soon!! You are so lucky! I don't fly out until Thursday and then Friday is surgery! I wish it was sooner. I'm curious to see how it is for you. Post as soon as possible to let us all know. I'm ready to begin the post-op process. I thought for sure that the concept of a food funeral was complete BS and I was so wrong! I'm glad I don't have any type of pre-op diet... That would be a tough one for me. Good luck to all of you and just think soon we will all be on the road to recovery! We are going to rock our sleeves!!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Is everyone getting ready? How about those that are already done? I've got all of my grocery (well, soup shopping) done and I'm completely stocked up on tons of different protein drinks and Isopure as well. I so ready to get the surgery done and over with. The thought of surgery freaks me out just a little bit but not enough to stop me
  12. I'm having surgery with Dr. Aceves on the 13th of January! I'll see you down there! I wish it was the 14th already! I'm beyond excited!!!
