I had my surgery done on 3/15 Tuesday and was pleasantly suprised that the pain was not that bad. I would say the most pain for me was 1 - 12 hours post op. I had my surgery done in Belgium and was not familiar with the pain medication I was being administered, but it seemed to work. The worst part of it for me was not being able to pee. The nurses would bring in the bed pan and I would sit there but nothing. Finally, I begged them to let me walk to the bathroom so they did and finally I went. Lying in a hospital bed having to pee but cant was more uncomfortable for me than the post op pain. I kept getting the infusions of "Paracetamol" every 6 hours but I had no idea what it was until I got home. Paracetamol is an iv form of Tylenol. So my post op pain was relieved by plain old Tylenol. I was walking around Brussels the next day so I had very little problems and am still doing great!
  2. That is fantastic! Keep up the good work.
  3. Hope your surgery goes great and you have a quick recovery. As far as "liquad phase" I have found that even the smallest amount of soup fills me up. You may be pleasantly supprised how little hungar you feel. I know I was!
  4. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet wife. She was such positive force on this site for so many. I know there is nothing that I can say to ease your suffering so I will just tell you how very sorry I am and hope that God is with you during this trying time.
  5. I just returned from Belgium and am sporting the 11cc Ionamed band. My husband is sporting a hernia from carrying my luggage across Europe. Just wanted to let everyone know it went well. Thanks
  6. Hope that awful feeling goes away soon for you. Other wise are you doing ok? Any postop pain now? Curiou!s to know since my surgery is Tuesday!
  7. I really hope that your insurance is approved and you can move forward on your surgery. Keeping my fingers crossed for you too!
  8. I want to thank all of you for all your good packing advice. I really appreciated it. I will update and post as soon as possibe with me luck and keep me in you prayers or thoughts.
  9. Marie, Thanks for all the support for my upcoming surgery. And thanks to each of you! You are all such wonderful people and I am so glad I have the resources of this board. I am taking my lap top with me so I will keep you updated as soon as I can. Once again thanks so much to all of you I really appreciate all your encouraging words!!

  11. Hi memphis lady, I live in Southaven Ms and one of my good friends at work used Dr. G. Woodman for her gastric bypass surgery. He is a good surgeon but not very personable according to her. There is another surgeon in Memphis named Dr. Madan he is now with Methodist and his price is around 17,000. I have been trying to deal your same issues for the last 8 months. So I finally decided to go to Europe and have my band done there. But I can suggest Dr. Jaime Ponce in Chattanooga I think his price is around 13,500. He works out of Hamilton medical center in Dalton GA (20 mins from chattanooga).
  12. Jenna, What strength patch are you using? I would suggest going to a lower one if the patch is making you nauseated. Keep this in mind quitting smoking is probably the most valuable gift you can give yourself (other than your band). If you believe in your self than YOU CAN DO IT. I believe that you can do it!
  13. Happy Birthday to you and I wish you continued success with your weight loss
  14. Yes my husband and I are kind of incorporating this into a vacation. We will fly into Amsterdam for 2 days prior to the trip take the train to Brussels spend one day there and I will have surgery the next day (March 15th). Question: What does the folded up sheet or pillow help with and if it's for the 9 hour flight home will one of those little airplane pillows work?
  15. I hope she comes back also. I noticed that all of her previous post except a few were deleted. She had over 500 post (I think) and all she has now is 8 listed. I was just getting to know her. I think I will PM her today.
  16. I leave to go to Belgium for my Lap Band surgery in 6 days. Do you guys have any last minute suggestions for the trip or any neccessary items that I would need to take with me?
  17. Marie, Sounds like it's time to go shopping! I can only imagine how liberating it must feel to throw away all those "big" clothes. Keep up the good work!
  18. Congratulations on becoming a bandster. I really hope your port pain goes away quickly and you are feeling better soon!
  19. That must be a wonderful feeling to wear that ring. Being able to wear that ring symbolizes that you have reached a milestone that you have strived for your entire life. That must make you feel wonderful! - SO CONGRATULATIONS! I have outgrown both my engagement ring and wedding ring and never considered having them cut or sized. I just put them away hoping one day I would loose enough weight to wear them again. I hoping that day for me will not be in the too distant future.
  20. Well said Whippledaddy!
  21. I am so sorry you broke your ankle. Don't be discouraged you will be up and ready to use that treadmill. So just give you ankle a chance to recouperate and don't worry about loosing weight because it looks to me like you are already doing great.
  22. Babs, I hope I can do half as well as you. Your rock! Have a great time in Vegas!
  23. Donali, THANY YOU! I am going to print that post off because I get tired of explaining why I am having to undergo weight loss surgery to loose weight. Your post says it all. The next person that says anything to me about this I will enlighten them with the facts from your post. And Lisa I know there are so many people around us that WOULD have us believe that our obesity is merely something we can control with mere diet and excercise. I bought into that theory for about oh 20 years. Luckily, the light came on for me and thanks to you and all the bandsters on this board I now believe that there is hope for me to control of this disease that has plagued me most of my life! I am glad you posted that because now I have some ammo for all those people that are telling me "I am taking the easy way out" -----I LOVE THIS BOARD-------
  24. Nicole, I hope that everything goes well with your surgery. I will be thinking about you on Monday! Let us know how you are doing when you feel like posting>
  25. Daisey, I will be a happy to be your friend in this lap Band adventure. My surgery is 3/15 in Belgium. And I would like to compare notes with you on planning. So far I have a three Ring binder and a spiral note book devoted to my trip/surgery. My husband laughs at me and thinks I have lost my mind. But I personally feel you can never be too prepared. So far I have typed out 2 iteneraries that include confirmation numbers, addresses and Dutch Phrases. Any way, after I get back feel free to email me and I will happily share with you any experiance I had from the surgery. I am sure that you will have no trouble finding friends on this board. And it looks like there is going to be quite a few of us getting banded over the next few months. So watch out veteran bandsters we are all going to be looking at you guys for support!
