    post op soda

I am 18 months out and I haven't had a coke, soda or pop since about 2 months pre-op. I was so surprised that I haven't missed it. The only time I even think about a diet coke is when hubby and I go to the movies. Popcorn and diet coke just kinda go together. I have heard so many bad things about them being painful and all around bad for you that I don't even want to try. #1. I am not into pain. #2. I don't want to go against my docs orders. and #3 I want to follow the rules since VSG is such a big step to change my life for the better. My sweet tooth has never gone away...that's been my big downfall and has contributed to my 4 month stall. I just have to say no.
  2. I'm in Lexington too. Dr Weiss at Central Baptist. I'm 17 months out and doing great! I would love to meet some buddies. I'll be at the support group this Saturday at the surgeon's office at 11am.

    Any Kentucky Sleevers?

I was sleeved 12/21/2011. Dr. Weiss at Central Baptist in Lexington. He is great...easy on the eyes too. lol Too bad post-op all I see is his PA. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience. I'm still learning what to eat and what not to eat even at 16 months out.

    I ate Easter Dinner

Easter at the in-laws who own a butcher shop. Hence, lots of protein options!! I had maybe 2oz of smoked prork ribs, 4 deviled egg halves (two at dinner and 2 about 2 hours later) about a teaspoon of baked beans and a teaspoon of mac & cheese. I weakened at the Easter egg hunt. I had about 5 pieces of chocolate. I've never lost my sweet tooth as many posters have said. I sure wish I had. That's probably why I have been in a stall. Too much junk!!! As I said on another thread, I am vowing to no sugar or anything white at least for the rest of the week.
  6. I have never looked back since I had my new "birthday" on Dec 21, 2011!!! As others have said, I only wish i had done it sooner. I have been at a stall for the last 3 months or so, but I know what I've been doing wrong...carbs, carbs, carbs. I am vowing to get back on track starting right now. No more sugar or wasteful carbs.
  7. I think my last straw was after I saw a nutritionist and I weighed in at 357 lbs at age 41. From that day forward, I have been on plan and I have never looked back. I am almost 16 months out and I feel like a million bucks! I got on a plane without needing an extension or buying an extra seat (EMBARASSING) and the tray table went all the way down AND I was in the middle of a 3 person section. I felt like I didn't make them feel uncomfortable. I felt NORMAL!! I avoided going to concerts because I and those people sitting next to me were miserable. I can't wait to see another concert!! I can fit in restaraunt booths comfortably and I have lots of room between me and the steering wheel in my car!!! I have so many more NSVs. Thank you sleeve!
  8. I grieved for probably the 1st 4 months after surgery. Even now at almost 16 months out, if I go to dinner with friends and they have plates and plates of food that I just can't have anymore, I catch myself falling into a pity party. I just try to remember why I did this surgery and how far I have come. I have lost 153lbs. I'm learning that going to dinner and eating like my sleeve wants me to is just as satisfying as going to gorge myself like I did all the years I was morbidly obese. I am also learning that I don't have to stuff food in my mouth in order to be included in the socialization piece of dinnertime. I That is the hardest part of this WL journey for me.
