  1. My maximum out of pocket is $2000, so I will only owe 20% up to the $2000. They have not required me to pay it ahead of time & my surgery is in 4 days (whoa!). Usually hospitals will bill you.
  2. We are getting sleeved on the same day! Good Luck to us
  3. Tell your doc. I have a BMI of 48, but I am only 31 & healthy in every way besides my obesity. All of my labs indicate that there hasn't been any systemic effects.... so no pre-op liquid diet. He does ask that we follow a low-cal & low-fat diet pre-op & liquids the day before. Good luck to you!
  4. I shout it loud & proud, but that is just my personality. I hope I empower somebody else to take control of their weight & their lives
  5. A cold will likely be gone in 6 days. Just make sure it is not a sinus infection or something like that!
  6. I lost 7 lbs by doing a 3 shake liquid diet in ONE DAY. Worth a shot.
  7. My doctor's office told me that more than 90% of Americans are Vit. D deficient.
  8. SO, I screwed up. I was doing well on my low-carb meals, but then I binged out & started a ball rolling in that direction. Now I have a meeting with my surgeon in 4 days & I am starting my liquid diet TODAY. He does not require one, but due to my weight gain & everything... I think that this is the way to go. SO, what does a pre-op liquid diet look like to you? Since he doesn't require it, I never got instruction on it.
  9. I haven't had mine yet, but I am in the Rock Hill, SC area. We can all be buddies!!
  10. Add me to the list! I am scheduled for Nov. 23rd & I have exactly one month!! I will be excited to hear all of your stories before I get to go through it We are all going to be so smoking hot!
  11. YAY!! What kind of pre-op prep are you doing?
  12. Breakfast: 3 hard boiled eggs & 1/2 apple OR protein shake. Lunch: Salad w/ Meat or protein shake Dinner: chicken, fish or beef & green leafy veggies (no corn, carrots, potatoes) I snack on turkey pepperoni ( I toast it so it is crunchy!), pickles, string cheese, SF jello & SF popsicles. I have not restricted the AMOUNT of anything, because that is my problem. Right now I am just focusing on WHAT & not how much. It seems to be working!!!
  13. I have no reason to believe they had WLS. Kelly Osbourne did DWTS & that is when her weight came off. Just because we choose to lose weight this way, does not mean that other people can't do it the traditional route. Their weight loss without surgery doesn't negate our weight loss with surgery. No matter what.... it is about coming out healthy on the other side!
  14. I have lost 12 freaking pounds since starting my low-carb diet 9 days ago!!! I am super excited!! I put on 6 lbs since I first met with my surgeon. He said that if I am above that weight on surgery day, they cancel the surgery. I am now 6 lbs UNDER my initial weight & I still have a month before surgery. The best part is that the thought of eating something sugary or full of carbs kinda grosses me out. I never thought it was true that you lose the taste for it.... but you do!! The first 5 days were rough, but I feel so much better now.
  15. I am getting sleeved the day before Thanksgiving!! I think it is pretty symbolic. I keep telling myself that while all the people around me are gaining weight, I will be getting more gorgeous & healthy!!
  16. I have it too. The condition is hidradenitis suppertiva. My surgeon knows about it & it did not stop me. I hope that after I lose my weight, the condition can get me covered for plastic surgery!!
  17. I called my surgeons office & the nurse said that mine does not have to come out.
  18. & to answer my own question... I've told quite a few people. I tend to be very open in general, so it just felt natural to share my concerns & excitement with my friends, family & nursing classmates. (Our nursing class is very close & I consider most of them good friends) Everyone has been nice about it or quiet about it... so that works fine for me. I am doing this for me & nobody's opinion is going to change that at this point. I just let my light shine!
  19. To tell or not to tell?
  20. Hiya! I got my scheduled surgery date today! November 23..... LESS THAN 7 WEEKS FROM NOW!!!
  21. Wheeeee! Surgery is scheduled for Nov 23!! I am so stoked!!!
  22. FEEL good again, physically. My legs hurt a lot & I am always tired. Ride a roller coaster with my 5 year old. Dance 2 songs in a row (or 4) when I am out with my ladies! I can barely do 1 right now. Fly somewhere with 0 anxiety about my size Graduate with my nursing class in August 2012 & NOT BE OBESE! Hike Crowders Mountain Roller Derby! I have wanted to do this for so long!! Be physically comfortable when I have sex. (just keeping it real!) Look like the audacious & happy person that I am!
  23. I WOULD like to one day be in one-der-land , but we will see once I get closer. On an awesome side note.... I GOT APPROVED THROUGH BCBS TODAY!! sooooooooooooo excited!
