I am 59 and had the surgery done last year. I know what you mean about age. I had my surgery in October of 2006 and have lost 98 lbs. I feel great. It does not matter how old we are, we should still want to be healthy and try to look good. Since that time I have had a breast lift, tummy tuck, and in October of this year I am having my neck done. I have heard of your doctor. My insurance had an obesity clause and would not pay for my surgery and the surgery was almost $16,000 so I decided to go to Mexico and have the surgery done for $7500.00. I am glad that I did, because there are a lot of insurance companies that are not paying for it and it has given me the opportunity to share my experience with those that can not afford to pay $16,000, but can afford $7500.00. I have not heard of your doctor. I am also from Houston and I was banded October 4, 2006, but my insurance would not pay for the surgery so I went to Tijuana Mexico. I have lost 98 lbs. and feel great. It has been the greatest decision I have ever made. Take care, Eureta

I had the same thing happen to me. I weighed 268 and my ideal weight should have been about 160. The reason they turned me down was because my policy had a obesity clause in it. I went to appeals they still denied me. After dealing with it for about 4 months, I decided to have my lap-band in Tijuana. This was October 3, 2006 and I have lost 96 lbs. I had my surgery done in Tijuana on October 3, 2006 by Dr. Daniel Huacuz. I was picked up at the airport by his driver and brought to his surgical facility. The surgery was done that evening. The next day I went to flouroscopy to make sure everything was fine with the surgery. The following day, I went home. I have lost 96 lbs. in nine months and feel wonderful. I could have not been treated more professionally. Dr. Huacuz and his whole staff have always been there for me. Since that time I have referred 12 people to them and they have all been pleased.

I was banded by Dr. Daniel Huacuz on October 6, 2006. I do not know where people are getting there information about him not practicing in Tijuana because that is totally not true. I have referred numerous friends and family to have the Lap-Band procedure done and they have all just loved the care that they received at the Huacuz Surgical Center. His staff is very professional and caring. They address any problems that you might have and have always been there for their patients. I am taking two more people in May to have the procedure done by them. I have lost 81 lbs. in 6 months and I feel great. As far as the lady that has had all the problems with having surgery done in Mexico with another doctor, that is an unfortunate thing that has happened to her. However, this could have happened to her in the United States. For instance, several years ago my dad had open heart surgery in Houston, Texas where he lived. Houston has one of the most renouned medical centers in the world. People come from everywhere to have heart surgery there. He contacted staff infection and was very sick from it. It was just something that happens and not anything that the doctor or hospital did. The main thing is that they took care of him until he was well. I feel as a patient of Dr. Huacuz that if I were to have any complications from having surgery that they would address them in a professional manner.
