When did you feel good post op

Go to target or other store they have big canisters of whey protein mix. Put one scoop in blender with a cup if water or mill. Look in health food section, big canisters cheaper than canned beverages

When did you feel good post op

I just use protein mix with nonfat milk. Everyone a little different. Drain came out when released. Started drinking fluids three days post op and eating fair at two weeks.

    3 DAYS POST-OP

You might ask dr first but treat diarrhea like you normally would with OTC medicine. Tell away, it is good to get it out of the system.

    Always Hungry

First, quit eating at fast food places. You need to change mentality, eat lean meats (turkey, chicken, fish). Swap fruits and vegetables for high calorie items. And agree with other poster, don't drink and eat a lot at same time, just enough if you have to wash it down. Remember you can eat your way out of the surgery, you stomach is still tissue and can expand. Control the food don't let it control you. Track your calories, that will help you know how much you are eating and will make you more alert to what you are doing to yourself.

When did you feel good post op

I was sleeved on a Thursday and felt great on three days later on Sunday. At a little over two weeks I just had a regular meal. Hang in there everyone is unique.

    Pureed Meats

Try pureeing chunky soups. Chew alot, saliva will break down foods. Also try dole fruits in water
  9. Go with a shake you like the taste of. Most have same calorie and protein count. I tried one from Costco tasted like chalk now get one from Target, tastes great. Try nonfat milk instead of water. The weight loss will come.
  10. I went in on 8/4 released 8/7 and my doctor told me I could eat pureed foods not just liquids, told me I would get tired of that quick. Suggested buying real Soups and puree in blender. I have had pureed soups and meats (underwood devil ham and chicken, soft scrambled egg, poached egg, cream of wheat, plain greek yogurt (with juice added for taste), cottage cheese in my first two weeks post op. Check with your doctor, everyone is a little different. Except for occasional overeating I have put down a cup of food at at time for meals and rather large gulps for liquids. I often wonder how much stomach he left in, I seem to take in more than most people.

Anyone in or around the LA Area?

I live in the San Gabriel Valley, Covina near the 10/210 and 57 freeways. Glad to exchange email addresses if you like.
  12. Underwood Deviled Ham and other products. Tried to puree meat and just comes out bad then while shopping I remembered Deviled Ham from childhood. Consistency is good with a rare chunk that can be chewed. Tastes great with some scrambled egg.

  13. Underwood devil ham. Couldn't stand to purée meat and remembered decile

    5 hours post op

Wow, posting 5 hours after surgery. I was still groggy though the pain meds helped me in that regard. Enjoy your new adventure, I am two weeks out and eating pretty normal except for solids to come in another two weeks.

learning that my stomach is different

Had surgery on Thursday the 4th. I didn't drink or eat anything to speak of for three days. On Saturday the doctor was ready to release me but I opted for another day and he had the IV pulled and that changed everything, after that I was ready to drink. Now at two week mark and I have no problem taking large swallows of liquids the puree food I sometimes overdo but not reflux. Just take it slow. It will get better soon, I am already taking in more dense things like cottage cheese, poached and soft scrambled eggs and plain Greek yogurt with cranberry juice for flavor. Good luck on your journey.

    Surgery Date 8/22/11!

Good luck with your surgery, I just had mine on August 4. My wife still can't cope with it, not before or after. Like you my weight went high several times for the last 10 years. So far I have not had any complications.

    Hunger

I was told that with the removal of the lower potion of the stomach that the feeling of hunger should decrease since that was the portion that produces the hormones for hunger. My appetite is solid two weeks post op and makes me want to crave snacks all day. What is experience and how do you cope with it.
  19. My doctor told me when I was released to go ahead and include soft foods like apple sauce, easy scrambled eggs, cottage cheese. Basically he said if I can puree it I can have it. See him tomorrow for post op visit and staple removal. My concern is having lost 23 pounds and only two weeks post op but I feel good, can't wait to get back to gym and tennis.
