  1. Took an old recipe for snack pecans and did it sugar free.

    Mix together

    2 egg whites

    2 cups pecans

    1 Tablespoon cinnamon

    1 Tablespoon salt

1 cup Powdered Splenda (I used the one in big bag)

bake 350 20-30 min (I used aluminum foil sprayed with pam so it came off easy) until dry and crunchy.

Not sure of stats....but yummy and has protein!

I forgot to put - make sure you include the egg whites....they kind of "bake" the pecans together like a praline (minus the sugar...hahaha)

Thanks for this! I love these things, glad to have a version I can enjoy after sleeving!

  2. If I had to do it over again I would cook and freeze some 1 cup servings of mushy stuff. Right after surgery I just got so tired for the first couple of weeks. I would cook a couple good Soups, maybe a gumbo, a good chili, etc. At least it will already be cooked and all you will have to do is wirrrr it in the blender! Good luck.....lost another 2 lbs yesterday....this sleeve ROCKS!!!!! :) Having a great year!!! (Sleeved May 23, 2011) :)

I'm so glad this thread was started! I am 23 days away and have been really stressing. I've been trying to keep my attention focused on planning for it. Heck, I've already packed! The time is just dragging! I, like you, thought perhaps I should leave the forum for now, to force my attention else where, but I just can't seem to do that. I'm even neglecting my farm on Facebook tongue.gif

I love the idea of freezing the meals and cleaning out the clothes. I'm going to get busy on this!

I think it's amazing how supportive the folks are here! Glad I stumbled onto this site!!

  3. How did you do yours? I did mine expedite and I got mine in a week or so. Really fast. I believe you will have yours well in advance, not to worry.

Mine, I did expedited in Boone, NC at the licence plate bureau. I bit the bullet and payed $170. I was in Boone for a watercolor workshop anyway, and they opened at 8 am, no appointment necessary. I went the same afternoon to the post office in Statesville to get my husband's as he had an appointment and had every intention of getting his expedited as well, but they wanted an additional $40 in shipping, beyond the extra $60 for expedited. I know it sounds silly, but I just felt like they were ripping me off and I couldn't bring myself to pay it. I even argued with her, but she said we had to pay the extra shipping if we wanted it expedited. I wish he had just gone with me to Boone.

  4. I went out to dinner tonight with my family to a Chinese Restaurant. I know not a good choice for food but It was more to be with the family than to eat. As dinner winded down, the conversation turn to my surgery. Mostly negative so I won't repeat the whole conversation. After about 30 minutes defending my decision for WLS, the waitress brought me my fortune cookie and the bill.

The fortune cookie read.....Sometimes travel to new places leads to great transformation.

    32 days and counting!!!!!:whoo:

    Gotta love that fortune cookie!!

  5. Hi,

I paid for my wife's VSS to Dr. Kelly instead of using the US coordinator and since my wife changed her mind we have been trying to get our money back for two weeks. Apparently, Dr. Kelly needs to go to the States personally (??) to send/wire our money back, which makes no sense. What's more, the US coordinator, Sandy, is apparently no longer working with them due to things they have been doing and which have been damaging to Sandy's reputation. We were told our money would be sent back to us within a week. We called after a week and were told it would be sent back to us over the weekend. When called on Tuesday after the weekend, it was now going to be another week. Had we paid the US coordinator, we would have had our money back on day one: Sandy refunded to us even the non-refundable portion of the deposit paid to her. As of right now, Trish's phone is "temporarily unavailable," there is no voicemail option and we are also waiting on Sandy to try to get a hold of them. I am so glad my wife did not go down to Mexico to be operated on by these people. If this is how they handle your money, who knows what they do to your body.

I wish I had better things to say but this is completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. Maybe Dr. Kelly is not a complete scam but here is my advice which hopefully will not end up costing me $3600:

    1) Always pay monies to a US coordinator, you will have recourse if the deal goes sour.

    2) Don't use Dr. Kelly. Maybe he does perform good operations but this is completely unacceptable behavior and does not make me want to recommend him to anyone. I would not mind using Sandy from alighterme.com for my wife in the future: she has been nothing but courteous, professional and prompt.

I'll update this post as I find out more but I am done being jerked around and lied to. Hopefully Trish and Dr. Kelly will come to their senses and understand they can not treat their customers like this if they want to continue being in business.

Wow, so sorry this happened to you! This reinforces my decision to switch to Dr Aceves. I detailed it in my blog if you care to read about it, but I just had a bad feeling because Trish was very inconsistent. When she told me they'd lost the ability to take credit cards due to "disputed charges", but go ahead and wire the $1500 deposit, she was sure it would be worked out by my surgery date. I just couldn't take that chance. After reading your post, I know I made the right decision.

  6. I remember reading that it wasn't a problem to travel back into the US if you have your driver's license, birth certificate and a receipt where you applied for your passport. Well, I applied for my passport today (my surgery is Sept 15th with Dr Aceves), but they didn't give me a receipt! He said I can go on line in a few days and print off that it's "processing". Is that the receipt that people are referring to? Someone please say yes, or I'm going to panic! ohmy.gif

  7. That is my Sleeversary!!! Wishing you an awesome, and smooth recovery.

Wishin ALL OF YOU the same! You won't be sorry you switched. Everything you're hearing right now is the absolute truth. I am a real patient of Dr. Aceves and went through it all. In fact, I'm going to go out and find my surgery day thread and blog it. I encourage you all to read through it if you have time. It's a long one. :)

I look forward to reading it! Thanks for the reassurance! I must admit, I'm a little nervous, but I try not to dwell on it. I'm focusing on the big picture... I'm going to loose this weight and get my life back!!

  8. I am planning to have my surgery in Mexico with Dr Aceves on Nov 5th. I have $5000 on my flex spending card that I plan to use for the procedure. Nina wants me to go ahead and send the card to her to make sure it will work (sometimes they won't "swipe".) I am concerned it will become lost and then I will be up the creek. Has anyone else used a flex spending account to pay for VSG in Mexico? Should I send the card on to Nina?

Thanks for helping out a newbie!
