  1. hi everyone .. had my vsg this past Saturday ... boy - it was much much tougher than I had anticipated. I wasn't happy w/the nursing care I received and actually checked myself out after 3.5 days .. I knew I would do better at home than if I stayed in the hospital. My tummy is so black & blue it looks like someone hit it w/a tire iron ... it's pretty gross. But today was the first day I could feel a little better .. still, I have a long way to go. I have a question ... I feel like I'm constantly hungry? Is this normal? I'm definitely not able to get all my protein & liquids in yet, but each day I'm improving. Tonight I had some chicken broth & mixed some wonton soup (broth only) in, and it tasted like heaven ... only, now, I'm soooooo full and have felt this way for over 3 hours now ... it took me about 1.5 hours to down a cup of the broth, but wow ... I have been soooo full since, did I do something wrong? Pls. advise ... thanks so much. RG
  2. thanks - I wish you all the best too ... will be in surgery tomorrow this time (it's actually scheduled for 1:30pm), so hopefully will have good things to report next week or shortly thereafter! Am so excited/nervous .... thanks again for your well wishes! When is your surgery?
  3. surgery at 1:30 tomorrow -- have to be at hospital by 11:00 ... am so nervous!!! Am drinking lots of clear fluids (water, tea, etc.) today .. am floating (and peeing constantly) :-) see you guys on the losers bench ... move over, here I come!!!
  4. thanks everyone!!!! I am waiting to hear what time I have to go to the hospital tomorrow for surgery .... won't know until 2:00 today .... like sitting on pins & needles! Thanks everyone for all your words of encouragement and thoughts -- it's so nice to have a place like this to come to to talk!
  5. I am so glad to read everyone's thoughts here ... I am scheduled to my surgery this Saturday and my doctor only requires 24 hours clear liquids before surgery, so i was worried why others have to go on more stringent diets, etc. ..... am glad to hear that there are many of you out there that also were instructed to to clear liquids for 24 hour prior to surgery .. this puts my mind at ease! As you can imagine, I am getting a tad nervous .... Not sure what my BMI is but I am very overweight and just looking forward to beginning a new phase of my life and getting healthy so I can live a long life as I should be able to .... Thanks everyone for all your words of wisdom!
  6. is this protein shake for the folks who are on the first two weeks after the vs, or is this more for the person who has surpassed the liquid phase only diet? Not sure if we can have pb the first two weeks?? pls. advise - I'm a newbie getting ready for the vs in hopefully a month or so .. just waiting for approval...
  7. I just learned a new trick .. I take a isopure drink (one of the flavored ones, like apple/melon) and put them in little freeze-pops ... I make 8 pops out of 1 20oz jar which is 40g protein. Then when ready, I can just have one at a time throughout the day -- and if I'm lucky enough to be able to get 8 pops in, that's 40g of protein right there ... even if I only get let's say 3 in a day, that's an additional 15 g of protein I can add into whatever else I'm doing. :-)
