    Three Year Update

You look gorgeous as usual! Thanks for continuing to inspire us!

Honestly, how much do you vomit?

I'm 2 years post op and have never vomited post op. I slimed less than 10 times total in the first 6 months. Not bad!

    Looking deflated!

I felt the same way.... and it does get better. I looked so deflated at 6 months post op but by a year I was tightened up a lot. No loose skin at all now. You are young! Don't worry things do bounce back a bit.

    Does coffee effect weight loss?

It has zero calories, and some studies show that it can actually increase your metabolism. As long as you drink enough other fluids there shouldn't be a problem. I have had a latte everyday for the past 22 months and made my goal and I am within five pounds of goal at any given time.

    fell off the wagon.

You are here looking for help, that's a good start. Its not impossible to re-lose what you lost. You might consider therapy first then a possible revision 2nd... just my opinion. Its not hard to regain the weight, I am almost 2 years out and if I didn't keep track of myself I could go back easily. Do you still have some restriction?

    2 Year Surgiversary

Thanks for your wise posts, I have always appreciated them! glad things are going well for you still!!
  7. Everyone posting on this thread have been my biggest motivators. I'm just shy of 2 years out, made my very modest goal at 9 months post op. It's hard sometimes to come to the site now because I always feel everyone besides me is satisfied on eating low carb, 800 cals, and 1/4 cup max per meal. I'm embarrassed, I feel like the anomaly almost... Luckily I'm 6 pounds from my low weight currently. I'm ok with that, but not HAPPY with that. I'm also kind of pissed I have to "diet" to get those stupid 6 pounds off. I could gain back all of my weight easily, but I won't. I won't go back. But it does take effort. I still have restriction with some foods but I could seriously eat 3/4 box of Cheezits in an evening, I have! Basically, I am so so happy with my sleeve but its hard to lose weight gained. The 6 pounds I'm trying to lose have been haunting me for months. All we can do is keep trying!!!

    weight gained back

I think everyone's expirerence is different. I'm nearly two years out and I CAN eat a lot more than I used to. I weigh 5-6 more than my lowest weight. I'm thrilled with the results, could I gain my weight back? Absolutely. Will I? No! It does take some work after a few years, but it's so much easier post sleeve.
  9. Veterans and Newbies.... lets set some goals. I am in the veteran category at nearly 19 months post-op. I am feeling spring fever and can't wait to wear cute outfits, hit the beach, go fishing, and ride my bike. I briefly got into the upper 160's for the first time since 4th grade last summer. I am currently sitting at 175. Feeling like getting back there again!! I want to tone up a bit, and run a 5K. My goals are: 1.) to weigh 165 by 30th birthday... July 25th 2013. (lose 10 solid pounds) 2.) run 5k before I turn 30. #.) Post some pics on VSG talk to show the changes!! How will I accomplish these goals? Start working out and burning 300-400 cals a day extra, and cut my current maintenance cals by 200 a day. I should be able to lose 10 pounds in 5 months!!! What are your goals??? (Note: I was about 8 weeks pregnant until a few days ago, and sadly had a miscarriage. I am looking at the bright side, and know when it is time for me to start a family it will happen! I am going to wait to try for at least a year)
  10. I love everything! But I do agree I'm not a fan on the judgement from others.

    Carbonation

I'm 2 years out and drink 2-3 bottles of sparkling water per day. It did not and will not stretch my stomach. Excess bubbles are burped right out. Everyone is different but I enjoy it everyday!
  12. Oh my it gets way too easy again! honestly I felt odd for 6 months but it was well worth it. I don't even remember I had surgery when i eat- i feel 100% normal now at nearly 2 years out. Nobody else notices either, my portions or on the small side but normal!
  13. Do what works for you! If you're losing weight at 1200 cals then that's perfect. I eat/ ate more than most sleevers too. I was up to 1200 cals around 4 months. I Made goal around 9 months post op- it was a very modest goal (169 at 5'4") I'm nearly 2 years out and have maintained at 1800-2000 cals a day. Adjust your cals if you are not losing, otherwise keep doing what you are doing! In another post a girl asked me rudely why I had the surgery if I was just going to eat "that much" I replied I didn't have the surgery to not eat a lot. I had surgery to lose weight and be healthy. And I did! -Lisa
  14. I'm a RN, I think you have been misinformed. This medication will probably help in your weight loss efforts! Untreated hypothyroidism leads to weight gain in many people and once people start the medication weight loss is likely!
  15. This happens to almost all of us. It happened to me. I lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks then 2 pounds in the next 3... But it does come off. Our bodies are strange creatures. Btw I'm almost 2 years post op. Relax hun! YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT! and a lot of it
  16. FishingNurse

    curious

I started in a size 22/24 as well (at 5'4'' and 260ish) and after 3.5 months I was probably in a 16... so in the bridesmaid dress world an 18 was probably a really good guess. They can take it in or let is out to a certain extent... you should be fine!! It will be exciting to wear that dress when you are down a bunch of weight!

    TATAS

my breast size didn't change much... I don't think yours will either-- if you were a C before, and still are you have a good chance of keeping them! I started at a small D and now I am a regular C. I feel like I lucked out!
  18. keep up the good work!!!
  19. FishingNurse

I fell off the wagon.... HARD!

After a year it is harder for a lot of us. I made my weight loss goal-- a very modest one- 170lbs at 5'4''... and gained back 9 pounds around 16 months post-op. I got back on track and lost them all. I have been able to keep those 9 pounds off with some effort. (I am almost 2 years out) I avoid sliders as much as possible, and I work out now.... (I didn't during weight loss) You can do this!!!!! It may seem extreme but if your ticker is accurate you could pursue the DS (duodenal switch)... sometimes its a good 2nd step for some to achieve the weight loss. Don't be embarrassed to go to your Surgeons office! Keep us posted. Also I agree with the above writer- extreme diets like shakes only are so hard to stick with.. be moderate about your weight loss- extreme dieting is what got most of us here-- I know dieting and then NOT dieting got me to 262lbs.

    I just want to eat

You will eat pretty much anything you want it moderation at some point. Don't worry. You are losing big time weight right now. It seems hard now but it will be soooo worth it. Hang in there!!!

All requirements are met, now I wait for insurance!

I am crossing my fingers for you too!!!!

68 pounds down in 7 weeks

May I ask how old you are?
  23. FishingNurse

68 pounds down in 7 weeks

Omg it took me 7 months to lose that! Keep up the good work!
  24. Have you thought about seeing a therapist or psychologist? Sounds like a few things are going on. it seems like you are grieving the loss of food, and there is some cross addiction taking place. It is very difficult to transition into a new life where food isn't the center of things. Like for mother's day, maybe you could focus on an activity to do together (zoo, museum, sporting event..) instead of the food? Problem is, its too late for you to turn back, you are stuck with your sleeve, It is hard but I hope you would reconsider... don't give up but make the best of your situation. How far out are you? I really think it does get better with time. Please consider seeing a mental health professional soon, I think it would be very helpful.
