This is weird, but did anyone ask...
FishingNurse replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I asked. But you are so out if it after surgery you might not remeber seeing it like me. So ask your surgeon to take a photo of it, they will! -
If you're anything like me......... I can seem to get wind in my sails and lose 20,30, 40, or even 50lbs (never made it to onderland) but I ALWAYS give up/get distracted/give in. And gain it all back. I needed this surgery. If I didn't need it I would have been thin since I went on my first diet when I was 7 years old. I'm almost 1 month out and know I made the right choice. I had several friends and family members try to talk me out of it but it didn't work. Unfortunately the statistics are that if an obese person loses weight through diet and exercise a crazy 95% of people will regain it within 3 years. That statistic was my deciding factor.

Kristina I felt like that too at first. I still get hungry but luckily I eat something small like 1 string cheese and I'm full an satisfied for hours! Once you get solids it really makes a difference.

how do i move on?
FishingNurse replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's too early to regret!! I think if you wait it out you will not have these feelings!! I am a nurse as well. I was worried a lot too.We know too much. We hear all the bad horror stories. When you get anxious just think about what your life will be like in 6 months!!!!! I am already feeling cuter, happier and excited for the future. People are telling me how great I look. And I am just one month out tomorrow. I can eat anything now just a very small portion. I do not feel deprived at all. (it is easy to feel like that when your diet is liquids) I know for a fact I could never maintain any weightloss for long- so this is my chance to feel and look great. -
I bought a super cute flared pair of size 16 jeans from Old Navy! They are adorable and fit perfectly, make my butt look good!!!!! YAY! I havn't been able to buy jeans there for years in the regular section!

How much weight loss in 1st week?
FishingNurse replied to jillw8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I lost 14 solid pounds -
I totally agree with you. I have effortlessly lost 26lbs in 3 weeks and 2 days. I lost 25lbs in 2008 and it took 6 months and I was at the gym everyday for an hour and paying for personal trainers and buying expensive "diet foods" I can't wait to lose more!

Please be careful not to get too full! My greatest fear Is jeporadizing my suture line and getting a leak. ( I met girl in my support group that did) or getting mega esophagus.

Newbie...introduction....
FishingNurse replied to Gastronaut's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! I hope you really don't think this is punishment!! ( the pre-op diet feels like it) I'm only 3 weeks post op and I'm shocked at how satisfied I get from an egg, or a baby bell cheese or 1/4 cup of yogurt! One item is an entire meal for me! I also drink a protein drink and a 12oz milk every day. Oh and a Popsicle before bed! I'm thrilled about how I feel like I'm satisfied and not on a diet! -
You will eat again! Even at 3 weeks out I'm eating eggs, ground turkey, string cheese, cottage cheese, refried beans, super soft cooked carrots, tofu, yogurt, soups, etc! I am sure i will be eating normal by week 6 to 8. I'm just not yet for safety reasons. food is different post-op you get satisfied easily and off of a few bites!

4 days post op - WHATS UP with my TOUNGE?!
FishingNurse replied to GiGi W.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you MIGHT have thrush, they usually give you IV antibiotics in the hospital, and sometimes that will cause yeast to grow. Its yeast on your tounge basically. I got it too. Showed up four days post op as well. I took a Diflucan pill and it went away. You should see your doc for this. -
Hi and welcome! I am like you in many ways. 28 as well, and I just separated from my fiance in May. LIfe is soooo much different. I did finally take the plunge to have the surgery after the breakup and it is sooooo scary but the future seems bright. We will figure this new life out!

Eight weeks post-op, I can eat everything
FishingNurse replied to Nelly S.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds practical to me! And that's what your doctor advises. I will be right there with you tolerating everything at 8 weeks. I'm way ahead at 3 weeks and have lost quite a but. Keep up the good work!
