Reactive Hypoglycemia?
I would try getting a hand held glucose meter at your local drug store. Some are even free when you buy the strips. Check to see what your glucose is to make sure it is the problem. It would be helpful to your doctor for diagnosis anyway. Try keeping a journal to to see if certain foods are causing the problem. There are some food allergies etc that can make you feel weird too.

Catheter question for men
Ok so I know I am not supposed to be looking in the "guy room" but did (haha) and thought I would share. I asked Doc what catheter was for? and his reply is any blood showing up can be sign of leak. After 24 hours if no fever and no blood in urine bag...they remove it. I did not have drain. I did not have to have the swallow test....went to hospital where they do hundreds of these a year and they built a whole hospital just for bariatric patients (Louisiana Surgical Specialists - LA Surgical Hospital) Guess they know what they are talking about. Just FYI (don't stress....they give alot of drugs and it really is not that bad - try to think about the good things (loosing weight) and not the bad (IV, cath).

How long were you on an acid reducer?
My doc said either 1.Aciphex 20 mg 2. Nexium 40 mg 3. Prevacid 30 mg 4. Prilosec 20 mg 5. Protonix 40 I just get the OTC kind. I tried not taking them (had surg May 23, 2011) had a little reflux which I never had before. Seems to work better when I take them so I am still taking them.

Stomach Spasms
My doctor puts his patients on Levosin (gave me 150 of them and you can take them every 4 hours) for the first couple weeks/months to help it calm down if you need them. They really helped the first couple of weeks. I think by about week 4 I was almost off of them. You might want to ask! Some days I would wake up and my stomach was just "fussy". Guess it was healing. It does get better. The med just relaxes your tummy. I laughlingly said it felt like a snake was thumping around in there......esp right under my boobs! Hope this helps!

Deciding on a Goal Weight?
My doctor has a fancy scale that measured by bone weight, water weight, fat percentage etc. They put my height in there and the scale/computer attached to it calculated 140. I am 5'1". While I would be thrilled to even loose to there - I was thinking maybe more 130 ish. Will be interested to see where I end up! Good question!!!

Day 3 Post Op
Trust me on this...if you think that went well just wait until you loose some major pounds. I never thought I was the kind of person that minded being heavy. Well I sure am enjoying people noticing and saying, "What has changed you look great!" Which is happening on an almost daily basis. Not that I want to ever be skinny - just don't want to be the fatest girl in the room - you know what I mean? Congratulations on getting through the first part of the journey - there are GOOD THINGS TO COME! CONGRATS AGAIN! Keep on drinking - that is the hardest part for the first couple of weeks!

Tired and Week
I noticed the days I drop alot of weight I kind of feel washed out and tired. I had to up the carbs just a little. I was not eating barely any at first and that helped the energy level a little. What week after surgery are you at? If it is 4 or less give yourself a break - you just had MAJOR surgery. If you are tired it might be your body's way of saying slow down and rest a little. Just stay hydrated is the main goal of the first month. Good luck! The energy level does get MUCH better the more weight you loose. I am not out of breath and don't get the sugar drop tired feelings that I had when I was 50 lbs heavier.

HELP! My hubby wants to cut up my BRAS!
haha....made you look Just kind of having a Celebrate me day! Hubby had one condition of the surgery. When we first got married I was 125 and wore all kinds of pretty bras. 24 years later....more weight etc....have gotten in the habit of wearing sports-type bras. He told me when I lost 50 lbs, he was cutting up all the ugly bras! LOLOL...I told him I don't want to clothes/bra shop yet. I am activily still loosing and want to wait a while (I don't plan on staying in this size long - optimistic thinking??) As a celebration of hitting 50 lb (actually 51 today YEA) I am going to let him cut up ONE sports bra.....and I am making him take me out to dinner and we are going to fun outing in New Orleans for the night! Any of you ladies slow to buy new clothes too? Guess it is because over the years I have lost and then put it back on??? Happy thoughts! Having a good day, month!

home from the hospital
First couple of days are the worst. I figured out just plain water at room temp went down the best. That and sugar free popsickes. Everything else made me gag. I know everyone says this but drink enough (of whatever you can get down) the first couple of days are the worst but it gets better. I had the hernia repair at same time also. He gave me levosin (a med to make stomach calm down spasms) and it really seemed to help the first couple of weeks. I also found an acid pill (ppi) really helped. It does get better sorry you are having a rough time!

meopuse sex= UTI
If it is a UTI (bladder/urinary tract infection) and NOT vaginal infection.....cranberry extract capsules help the pH in the urine become more acidic which helps inhibit the bacteria from spreading. You can buy them over the counter next to vitamins.

Help! I can't poo
I had stopped drinking coffee right after surgery for a couple of weeks and was having trouble going #2 too. When I went back to drinking one cup of real coffee a day the other went back to normal too. Figured coffee was better for me than taking meds to poo.

5 days post op... white tongue?
Well I don't know. I had my surgery 5/23/11 and I am still having it. Two more pounds and I hit the 50lb lost mark!

6 weeks post op and I have an incision that just won't heal
I had the same thing happen. One tiny spot formed a little pimple looking thing that kept itching and when I accidently scratched it it popped and a little thread was sticking out. I could not help it....it was bothering me so i pulled it and it came right out with a little knott on the end. One of the disolvable stitches worked it's way out! Healed up great after.

Ladies, I need your help
Zoo picnic lunch? With bottle of wine ! Or better yet some fancy frozen drink with an umbrella in it! I also love the water park (if you have one near you) and the beach but we never seem to get there until company comes and then we talk about how it does not cost much and feels like we are on vacation. Congrats!!!

Scared! At ER :(
Ask your doctor to test you. Ddimer test is for blood clots. Uric Acid test is for gout. Did they run either of those on you? If it is stil red couldn't hurt to ask!
-
Should I be concerned?
Same thing happened to me. Doctor said not to worry unless redness got bigger than quarter. Four weeks after surgery all scabs were gone and one stitch formed a little pimple thing that I accidently scratched and the stitch came out. After it healed all up. Weird.

5 days post op... white tongue?
It is prob ketosis from loosing weight. Use a tongue scraper. I use mine now every day. Also if you were given high dose antibiotics during surgery it could be thrush (yeast infection). - but my guess is ketosis. Good news means you are loosing weight!
