  1. I just started a new job 7 weeks ago and after being unemployed for almost 6 months I am so fearful of losing the job if I tell them the truth about the surgery. I got denied for the surgery by insurance last week but they are now going to approve it. Surgery is set for June 1st! Already had my pre-admission testing! I don't want to tell them the truth because it is elective and I know they would question why I would choose this knowing I just started... QUESTION: What can I tell them? Anyone have this issue ? I was thinking of just telling them I need surgery and my boss is male and maybe he won't ask assuming it is a female issue. I am paid per diem with no benefits and my position was done by my boss by himself for the past 2 years until I took over so I am not concerned he will be stuck with a heavy workload but don't want to make a bad impression. Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
  2. BEST of luck to you! My surgery is 6/1. I'm actually sitting in hospital for my pre-admission tests as I type this. So ecited. Hope all goes well with you! PD
  3. GLAD to hear all went well! Hope to hear many more good stories. How has it been at home and not in the hospital? I fear getting the IV more than the surgery (I have bad veins....) Surgery date is 6/1. Hope you get better and better everyday!! PD
  4. LOTS of luck to you!!! I am suppposed to be getting surgery June 1st but insurance needs my psych eval which is tomorrow. Psych said she would have report sent to my doc Wed. morning so they can send to the insurance. I am praying all goes through. Good luck and keep posting!
  5. that is WONDERFUL !! Big congrats! You must feel so proud! I hope I am as successful as you! Countdown to my surgery.......9 days !! PD
  6. AMAZING !!!!! You ROCK ! PD
  7. I received a call from my surgeon's office ystrdy that the insurance may be overturning my appeal afterall. All I need to do is provide them with my psych eval which doesn't take place until next Tues and my surgery is set for June 1st....Hopefully that will still be the case. I hope to see some changes on everyone's end as far as their appeals. Good Luck and keep thinking postive! PD
  8. Depends on your insurance company and many other factors. I also have UHC and I was rejected yesterday. I am hoping with 2 letters from my PCP for the last 5 years that the insurance company changes their minds.....I was set for June 1st surgery.......... PD
  9. I started going to my surgeon in Jan. after my insurance company told me the surgery is approved (in general....) I went through all the tests requested from my surgeon and scheduled my surgery for June 1st. Yesterday, my surgery coordinator called me to tell me I was denied. What a big shot to the gut (literally) that was. I was looking forward to it. My doc is scheduled to speak to the insurance company today to hopefully have it overturned. My BMI is not quite 40 and I have no other health issues but a history of very high blood sugar and multiple family members with type 2 diabetes and overweight. I am waiting patiently but I am so hoping they change their minds. I wish you luck on your approval. I was told they usually do reject but always try and appeal..........Praying for both of us! PD
  10. Sorry to read your post. The same thing happened to me yesterday. My surgery date is set for 6/1 and insurance denied me. Call with doc and medical board is scheduled for today and hoping they approve it. I have UHC and in Jan. I was told VSG was covered. Went through all the necessary tests and seminars and i was denied. So upset. I am really hoping it gets approved. I will be thinking of you....Keep me posted! PD
