  1. But PLEASE , don't stop trying. I appreciate your sensible input. All any of us can do is---try. I thank you for trying...
  2. When you get to your support group ask if anyone there has experienced a bout of some form of depression since WLS. I wouldn't surprise me if EVERY post opper replied, "yes". I believe it's all part of the process including a hormonal flushing. One moment "flying high" --next moment weeping. All will balance out eventually--for most people. HOWEVER, if you feel you are "stuck", please do not hesitate to seek help. Contact your team/therapist. There is help available--short term or on an ongoing basis. You do not have to suffer when on what should be a joyous journey.
  3. No offense was taken. Thanks. --And THAT, boys and girls is how "it's" done. Thank you, gentlemen.
  4. I agree. A "like" option or a simple "thumbs up" would be a great way to show support when our words are not coming easily to us or when on a mobile device. I'm like'n it.
  5. I would get samples of different Protein powders. I know that some of the bariatric supply stores on line will send you samples--some free and some charging shipping and handling. I know that GNC has sample size portions of their Quest Protein powders for about two dollars a pouch---the brand I use . There are sooo many to choose from. Keep in mind, though that your tastes may change after WLS. What you like pre-op you may not like post-op. I would suggest not stocking up to too many of one brand. Your bariatric team should recommend what Vitamins you need to take. I am five years out, so I use vitamins from CVS. Check with you surgeon's office for recommendations. Best of luck on your WLS journey. I hope it will be a joyous one.
  6. Go crazy trying different veggies. This time year with all of the veggie stands popping up everywhere, fresh veggies are inexpensive. My eight year old grandson makes roasted carrots using the recipe above. It's easy and fun. Tomorrow is Farmers' Market here in town. Kaleb wants to try green tomatoes. Why not? I think we will use added lemon on those. I love it that he wants to cook.
  7. How about roasting some veggies?? I have them almost every day. I use: Brussel sprouts or Carrots or Cauliflower or beans--green or zucchini or snap peas I put them on a cookie sheet with just a spray of olive oil. then I add crushed fresh garlic (I love garlic, so I use a whole bulb). I then add two Tblspns of nutritional yeast (it adds a cheesy flavor plus 7-8g of protein), salt, pepper. rosemary and thyme or Mrs. Dash. and/or lemon pepper. Pop it into the over at 425 degrees for about 24min.--flipping them over half way through. They're a wee bit softer than raw, but not mushy. Try it and let me know what you think. Good luck, and happy veggie hunting.
  8. Welcome to "The Losers' Bench". Take a deep breath and rest for a wee bit. THEN: Get your arse up and get moving!
  9. Great news! Please post often and let me know how you're doing. I'm nosy, yes, but I really care too!
  10. Wishing you all the luck in the world. I go Aug. 9th. Yikes! It's starting to real. (insurance is paying for mine. Hoping you have the same ...)
  11. Your BMI is about 74...in the practice where I was recently sleeved, you would be a candidate for a Duodenal Switch or a Roux-en-Y bypass, or for a sleeve gastrectomy as a first step, to help you lose some weight prior to a revision to a DS or RNY. This is definitely something that you can only decide in talking with your surgeon, because your co-morbidities will contribute to the decision in a major way. Good luck to you. Exactly! what she ^^^^ said. Spot on advice.
  12. It was YOU, wasn't it??? I KNEW IT!
  13. Or a VW bus with flowers painted on it. AKA: "arrest me".
  14. Count me in! I carry a snap open fan with me at all times. ----just like the ladies at the bull fights one sees at the movies. I can really get my fan whipp'n when having a hot flash... Please let us know what you find out. Good luck----and-----stay cool.
  15. Try making homemade bone broth , then add some nutritional yeast. It adds more savory taste AND more Protein. You can also add it to Won Ton broth. Yummy! You guys have quite a support group of your own right here. Good for you!! Share and enjoy each other's journey.
  16. You are doing fantastically well! Stand strong, Friend. The third day is usually the toughest and that is behind you now. You're setting the bar high for any who follow.
  17. Loosing weight feels wonderful... Entering into Onederland? PRICELESS!!!!!!!! Great feeling, isn't it? Enjoy! You've earned it. Congrats!!!
  18. We've been waiting for you. We'll see you just before Labor Day on "The Losers' Bench". It will be a joy to watch your journey. It has been so far. You've done a "maavelous job, Daaaling". Your new life is within your grasp. Go for it!!!

    There ya go!
  20. Your sleeve may just not be ready for dense Proteins yet. I suggest you crock pot your meat and see it you can tolerate it better when prepared thusly. Then every week, try a bit of meat prepared differently--about 1oz to start with. Beef is usually the last Protein that many sleevers can tolerate. It is the one meat that is never really fully digested--just broken down. Want to try something completely out of the box but really yummy? Crock pot a chicken in diet root beer. Seriously. It is soooooo good. Try it.
  21. Maybe "someone" or a few "someones" could make sure that there is always a healthy choice put on the table. Be competitive and see "who" can make the prettiest---most delicious--healthiest snack. It will give everyone another choice. It could be fun It could make a much healthier place to work.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this emotional turmoil. It's not easy. Has your Papa ever been diagnosed with an Alzheimer's type dementia? It sounds like he is/has been displaying some of the tell tale signs of it. Whether he has some sort of senile dementia or not does not make the hurt any less. It might make the hurt just a wee bit more tolerable. I guess I would TRY to think about what Grandma would want you to do. I would let her memory guide me. Easy? no But maybe, just maybe your upset and heartache might ease just a bit. I'm listening. I hope for now, that helps. You're in my thoughts. Take care and be kind to yourself and your memories of Grandma.
  23. Please, please, please---the next time he calls, Please reframe from asking him, "What's up?" ...
  24. I didn't have a drain for my sleeve surgery. I did have one with my spinal reconstruction. My surgeon told me that he was going to pull it out on the count of "3". He pulled it out at "2"! Sneaky bastard... Really it happened so fast that it was out before I had time to dread having it pulled. I have been forewarned that I will be coming home from my skin surgery with 6 drains. OH MY!! I let you know how that goes.....
  25. You are most heart felt welcome! Sometimes ---just for a moment----laugh is all we should do. I DO care, my friend. I'm here and I'm listening. I hope--at times---that helps.
