  1. sounds like dumping syndrome or you may be lactose intolerant now...call your surgeon. Hope you are feeling better. To get the Protein in, try PURE protein ready made in the can (found at Trader Joes, Target or The Vitamin shoppe-add 1 scoop of any flavorless Protein Powder to it (I use Designer Whey) This will double your protein intake in one 6 oz shake equalling a total of 36 grams of protein for one 6 oz. shake and the pure protein in a can is the absolute best I have had..alittle pricey but well worth it.

  2. Ahhh.thank you..3 more days to go on this liquid stage...I think everyone is right about the acid build up rather than hunger feeling..I slowed down on the Soups yesterday and didn't hear the gurggles as much. Makes sense. Thanks!!!

All this will be just HISTORY! but this time not repeating itself. TRUST ME! u will feel a lot better when u move to soft food. I promise.

As said above check with ur doctor about the acid blockers tablets and take them, make sure ur stomach is acting this way for the right reasons.. may be u are drinking something that irritates it. Spices were my major problem. try blending milk with yogurt and enjoying it.. the liquid stage sucks noo question. but it will pass and U WILL FEEL restriction and not only that u will feel SOOOOO SATISFIED:)

congrats on ur journey so far:)

  3. I have to clarify..i lost 26 since pounds including my pre op diet!!! only 6 since surgery. You are doing great. To get the Protein in, add a scoop of Protein to powder to the ready made Protein Drink..that's how I sneak it in. Good Luck!!

    26 pounds???

I'm also 10 days post op.

I did the 580 calorie pre-op for 9 days, hospital for 3 on clear, full liquids since and I have lost 9 pounds. It makes me want to cry.

And yes, I am very hungry. But I'm staying with my full liquid plan because I want to be as safe as possible. Mainly I have no energy. I need to keep working on the protein.

My guess is that I am getting about 400 calories a day. My surgeon told me last week that I am a "classic metabolically challenged individual". Thanks. But on the other hand, it does confirm I needed this surgery. Diet alone would have never gotten me anywhere.

I'm going to go mope for a while now. I really can't imagine 26 pounds. It just takes my breath. You are soooo blessed.

  4. I am 10 days post op and feeling very normal. I have some discomfort but no pain. I am able to get all my liquids in plus some. I am tired of Soups and yogurts. I had 1/4 cup ricotta and I told the doctor. He advised me not to do that again because it is too soon. I am hungry. My stomach will not stop growling. I asked the doc if this really worked b/c I thought the grelin hormone (hunger producing hormone was removed) What the heck?? I can get down 6 oz of Soup and then I am literally hungry an hour later. Does anyone else feel this way? The doc says that I once I am able to eat sold foods I will have alot more restriction...is this true? All I know is that I am dreaming of scrammbled eggs!! HA! I had some Tomato Soup today with a dab of fat free cheddar melted in--that was good. But an hour later and I am hungry again!!! Any advice?? Thanks all!

By the way, I am not complaining I lost 26 pounds as of today (this includes the pre op liquid diet.) I have lost 6 since surgery alone, just a bit frustrated from not being able to eat and being hungry. ugh!!

  5. Yes, I bought the grape. I spoke to my surgeon before trying it and he said not to use it because it is collagen and whey. collagen isn't a great source of Protein for us. What I now decided to do was.. I bought the Designer Whey flavorless protein (1 scoop is 19 grams ) and I added to 1/2 a can of ready to drink PURE protein and which =26 grams for the 1/2 can or 5.5 oz..pretty cool, huh? Try that. You can get PURE and desiger at the Vitamin Shoppe.

Happy...did you get those shots today? Which flavor did you get? I just ordered the grape one from www.mybariatricpantry.com Do you like them?

  6. Thanks for sharing crosswind. It is good to hear-I am only 6 days post op and I called my surgeon today to ask him if the damn sleeve worked because I am able to eat like 6 oz of fat free cream Soup in like 10 minutes. He told me that once I graduate to solids, it will be different..the food makes you full very fast. Your posting also helped clarify for me...thank you!

  7. Hey cutie! Like you I went back and forth with this decision-it is normal for you to feel that way. I researched for months and spoke to more than hundreds of people who had the sleeve and NOT one person had a regret. I was sleeved on Wednesday and I am doing pretty darn great. My liquids go down fine, the pain has gone away and I lost 25 pounds so far (including 14 day pre op liquid diet). I have struggled with being overweight for 15 years but I know I did the best thing for myself and my family. Liek you, I have two small infant children and I wanted to live a long happy healthy life for me and for them. YOU can do this! Best of luck to you!

  8. Last night at about 10 PM I had the cold sweats all over my body, dizzy, shaking, felt like I was going to throw up (but didn't) I breathed through it and it passed within about 5-6 minutes. It was really pretty awful. This sounds like dumping syndrome, right? Does anyone know what would have caused this so late at night? I drank some Water and chewed on some ice cubes about 30 minutes before, could that have caused it??? I was doing so well with getting my liquids in, etc and now I am scared to drink today.

  9. Since all the Protein powders I've tried stink (except for PURE Protein in a can which is actually smooth creamy and great tasting) I am going to the Vitamin shopee today to pick up the new 3 OZ whey protein bullet by IDS which=42 grams of protein! Gals, guys, try this if you are having a hard time getting the protein in. I will let you know how it is after I buy it today. Hope this helps! By the way, last night at about 10 Pm, I felt God awful, alomst passed out--I had the cold sweats all over my body, dizzy, shaking, felt like I was going to throw up (but didn't) I breathed through it and it passed within about 5-6 minutes. This sounds like dumping syndrome, right? Does anyone know what would have caused this so late at night? I drank some Water and chewed on some ice cubes about 30 minutes before, could that have caused it???

  10. I am 4 days post op and doing really great. Sometimes I find myself drinking too fast which results in a gas pain under my breast bone but it quickly passes. My doctor said it is okay to add two teaspoons of low fat creamy strained Soups between Protein Shakes and today I tried the creamy organice butternut squash version and let me just say it was amazing. It made feel normal again. I had 4 oz and another 4 oz about 2 hours later. Is that normal?? It went down easy and I had no problems. Doesn't 4 oz. sound like a lot to fit in 4 days post op? Anyway, other than being sore and having pain if I drink Water too fast, I am doing really well. I am craving a scrambled egg but I can't have that until 2 weeks out-I did make an egg custard but I am afraid to eat it because the consistancy is a bit tougher than a yogurt-I will wait on trying that one.
