  1. Im up to 45 minutes straight at an easy pace on the trail behind my house

I've noticed each day I do it im less sore and less tired...I started out with just 10 mins

Damn... I gotta get my butt moving! LOL.... I'm not doing any purposeful walking. That said I run errands and take my kids to the park and stuff. I think I'll start walking on a schedule and start on right like you guys!

  2. Could it be you're getting lactose intolerant? It happens with a lot of sleevers, especially if you've been borderline in the past. Two days out from surgery I switched from low fat milk (NUT wanted us to get a little fat in our diet) to soy milk . I kept having lots of bubbles, stomach issues, burping and almost vomiting when trying to get down milk. I was lactose intolerant as a baby and figured out that may be the cause. As soon as I switched to soy, no issues at all! It's worth a try!

*GASP* That could soooo be it! I was lactose intolerant pre op but because I've yet to find an Organic Lactaid I just dealt with the bathroom runs..... But it makes sense & I never thought to think the lactose affects my body different now....!

I will try my children's Almond Milk. They are lactose intolerant as well & since they've been drinking the stuff since I stopped nursing them they actually really like it. I'll see how it goes, thanks!

Right now I'm having some white fish I sauteed and mixed with .5oz of yogurt for lunch. So far so good and surprisingly tasty after seasoning it well.

  3. What is everyone mixing their Protein shakes with? I can't get down my pre op Protein shake. It's Gold Standard, I mix it with skim milk and 3 sips make me nauseous! It's 25 very much needed grams of protein! I just can't get all this Protein down!!! I did it one day, but I was literally putting something in my mouth all day long and It's exhausting for my sleeve.... I hate to keep whining like this, but almost everything makes me feel weird or downright nauseous.... Today I had 1oz of plain fat free yogurt with 1tsp of honey (1/3 of the tbs serving) and the honey apparently was a mistake cuz made me feel sick.... then I get up and I'm sooooooo dizzy I feel my body needs nourishment so I made the shake and 3 sips later I'm fighting a trip to the toilet....

Does anyone else feel this way still? I was sleeved 6/24/13 & I feel like by now I should have a better handle on things, but 1 good day doesn't mean the next will be the same. My sleeve capacity changes on a whim from moment to moment.... I just don't get it.

  4. I'm 10 days out and since I don't really like leaving things to chance I count. I use myfitnesspal app and keep track of Calories, Protein, Carbs & Fiber. I take a glance at Fat but since I'm following an Atkins like diet until maintenance I'm not stressing it. I'm soooooo scared I won't succeed. I keep hearing stories of people who are 1 or 2 years out and have lost only 30 or 50 lbs (mostly on Facebook groups). I don't really know their situation, but I can't help but feel like they probably just didn't grab the bull by the horns. So my plan is to work my butt off both in diet and exercise & let my sleeve help me the most toward the end when those last lbs are the hardest and maintenance since I've never had a problem losing in the past just keeping it off. We'll see if my plan works, of course, but I just can't trust myself to wing it.

Edit to add: Not really sure how many cals I should really be consuming. My personal limit is 800 but I've yet to reach it. Today my main goal is getting my full 60g of Protein so I might reach it or go over. We'll see.

  5. I'm 10 days post op too and just had my drs appt yesterday... She said forget about the Protein Powder for now and sold me the clinic's stuff from BariWise. I thought it lame before since I didn't want to get swindled, but it was for the best. Today I had the Amaretto hot chocolate. YUMMMMMMY! 15g of Protein & goes down easy since it's hot. The drinks I freeze them in 4oz cups since it's so hot here. 15g in whole 8oz so 7.5g in my 4oz pops. Flavor is decent & much better when frozen. Tried the cream of chicken, but it's gross. 2 out 3 so i'm not complaining. Going to order it from my dr office from now on since it's the same price as website & no shipping... not the cheapest stuff on earth but I figure it's only until I can consume more protein.

  6. Hey, I'm just wondering...I read ppl can't eat more than a teaspoon or 2...I really can't feel my stomach to say the same. Are you experiencing the same full feeling you got before the surgery or is it different? I mean I don't have more than about 2 or 3 teaspoons myself but it's not because I have this crazy full feeling but more like I'm just not that hungry so I just stop. Anyone else not getting an "I'm so stuffed" feeling like ppl claim or for those of you that do what's it like?

I don't have the same full feeling like pre op anymore (kinda miss it, messed up huh?). Anyway, I did serve myself an extra ounce of cottage cheese. Thinking that its simply ridiculous that I can't get this Protein in. Well, I ate maybe .5 ounce before the not-so-full feeling turned to just nausea.... Ugh. Never again, you'd think right? Nope, I accidentally did it this morning. I chose not to measure and just eat till I felt full, but since I didn't know when to stop I went straight to nauseous again. It seems I learn like Homer Simpson! :D

Edit: I should add that the other day I went to a restaurant with the family & since I couldn't order anything else I had the wonton Soup without the wontons. Gave away 2 small servings (my kids) and proceeded to sip the entire meal. I didn't want to have nothing to do so I kept sipping. When it was time to go I stood up and I could feel all that liquid sloshing inside or something. It was the first uncomfortably full feeling I've had. About 30 minutes of waking later I felt better. Full relief came after a bathroom break (TMI sorry).

  7. Oh that sucks! That's what I had for lunch. Unfortunately I haven't experienced much that my yummy doesn't like :(

Really! :o My new tummy can't handle anything substancial! Everything stays down, and for that I'm very grateful. Still, everything feels like swallowed a rock. And that's a good meal when the food doesn't make me downright nauseous. The only thing that's working is warm thin liquids that don't have Protein. But that can't sustain me for much longer. I have my first post op visit with my surgeon this wednesday so hopefully we can come up with a solution. I'd rather sacrifice speed of weight loss at this time than worry about not being able to care for my children properly. They're home all day now and I made them take a nap today just so I could!!! LOL B)

I keep thinking I can't wait till I got this down... but I suspect that'll happen right before I'm approved for solids and I'll have to readjust yet again!

  8. I can't find sugar free pops in my area at all. So I got Powerade Zero, which I normally can't stand cuz of the artificial sweetner, and froze it in little plastic cups and then flipped it over... It turned out to be awesome cuz it paces my swallowing and it's too big for my to accidently bite and swallow a big piece. That happened with an ice chip at the hospital... hurt like a b***h. Also, the taste improved once frozen...

  9. I'm glad your felling better! These threads are filled with great info. I'm in bk also, my surgery is July 8th at Methodist hospital. I'd love a work out buddy, lets tackle prospect park! :)

Awesome! By the time we're cleared for exercise I'll be living in Kennsington. It's closer to the park so that'll be perfect!!! In the meantime keep in touch and good luck on your surgery!!!
