  1. That is exactly what I meant, I think some people read it wrong. I am saying if personally "I starved myself to death" then it could be done but that is why I said it is better to stretch it out and have a goal. Like my first goal is that I would like to be at 300 pounds at my 6 month mark. It doesn't mean it will or will not happen. It is just I want to do it in a healthy way
  2. Yeah I am with you on the chocolate chews and they are really tasty. You get yours cheaper though. I might have to start buying them online because at Muscle Max they are about $20 a bag.
  3. I would love to reach that goal 4 months after surgery but I think it would be really hard. I was sleeved 2/22/11 and did a pre-op diet a month in a half before hand starting 01/03 and so since before and after surgery I have lost a total of 51 pounds in 3 months so I think thats it is possible if I starved myself to death so I say set a goal of 6 months better so you come out healthy with such a fast weight loss. Just my opinion
  4. I had went to Walmart because I was on a tight budget and bought the 2 lb(32oz) container of Body Fortress Whey Protein for the shakes and got Cookies and Creme, Chocolate, and Vanilla. I loved the vanilla and cookies and creme. The chocolate was ok but then again I am not the biggest on Chocolate. I paid right under $15 for each container which is a great deal. I had bought some Strawberry from Muscle Max and didn't care for it so my hubby drinked it. But its powder and you mix it with water or skim milk. I reccommend using water and saving the calories for food. I also bought and still buy sugar free jellos and puddings but if you get them from Walmart they have a brand next to the yogurt section called Winkies and the jellos from this brand are only $2.64 for a box of 24 jellos. Good luck
  5. Yay me. I hit my 50 pound weight loss mark today!!!

  6. Yay I am so excited I hit the 50 pound mark today. It is so funny I had thought I gained weight but with putting new clothes on I guess the clothes will fool ya. Anyways really excited and happy I had my sleeve. I have been the happiness in my life since having this done and it has really done wonders with my relationship with my hubby as well, not that it was bad before but it has made us closer!

    Tortillas

I love tortillas too but I still cannot eat anything like that. I had my sleeve 02/22/11 and I have tried and it makes me throw up and bread included so I am scared to try again too soon. I might wait a couple of months and then try again.
  8. I need more will power, any suggestions. Tonight on my way to work I had every intention to go to McDonalds and buy a burger but then as I approached it I changed my mind because I know that 1 it would be hard for me to eat the food and 2 I know that their food is high in calories/fat.

  9. I haven't never formally introduced myself here but here I go. Before I had surgery the highest weight I had ever been was 422 pounds at 5ft 11in tall. I had type II Diabetes which now since surgery is gone but I still watch it to make sure it stays gone. I am married and a mother of 3 girls and a grandmother of 1 girl. I currently live in Des Moines, Iowa. I had my sleeve 02/22/11 and happy I did

  10. Hello Everyone, I had my sleeve done 02/22/2011 so I am almost a month post-op. I have been trying some different foods to eat and some of the things I have tried are not setting well with my stomach so it comes right back up, is this normal? Also, sometimes when I eat I feel like I am having a stomach heart-attack (stomach spasm type pains) sorry that is the only way I can describe it. I feel I am doing good with weight loss so far and before I was having problems with dehydration and couldn't get enough liquids in but that has all worked out but now its the food thing. Any reccommendations would be great. What can I eat? I feel like I am not doing something right. Thanks for any input.
  11. Yeah its so fustrating because I love food but it doesn't love me right now, and I love spicy food too but I am scared to eat certain things right now. Maybe I will have to take the spasm meds and prilosec to help. I am really bad about taking medications, I always forget. That is probably why I have the problems I do but thanks for the input and thanks for the luck, I will need it
  12. Thanks for the help. I guess I am just expecting higher expectations on eating foods I was able to eat before. I just figured that I was going to be able to eat some of the same things I ate before but just in smaller portions and that just isn't happening...lol I am going to go back to the soft stuff again (Sugar free jellos and puddings) until I can figure out what will work for me. I appreciate the advice.

    told my parents

Yeah family support is great...friends too. I told everyone I knew. I guess I was excited and nervous but the thing is that you have to have people to give you encouragement. That is what helped me get through everything I have been through. Do your research on your doctor and you shouldn't have any doubts about your doctor if he/she has a good reputation. I totally trusted my doctor and wasn't nervous a bit on my day of surgery (02/22/11), and things have been going good so far. Good luck and I know everything will be fine

    Four weeks Post-OP

Good for you. I am very happy that you are doing so well and don't worry about that co-worker, she is just plain ignorant. The problem is that some people don't realize how it feels to be overweight and when they make comments its because they are not educated about it, plus who would want to be friends with anyone like that. I look at it like this, if they are your friends before they will continue to be your friend and you don't need their blessing. My youngest daughter goes through this too (she is 9) and I tell her that everyone in this world has some kind of imperfection whether its our weight, acne, too skinny, bad hair...I could go on and on. So we all got something, its just others are quick to judge instead of looking in the mirror. Well anyways sorry I had to vent on this too but again CONGRATS GIRL you are doing wonderful.

    NEED SOME HELP ASAP!!!!

I had my sleeve done on 02/22 and have had similar issues like you. I had to go get IV fluids last week because I was dehydrated, and I get spasms right after I eat really bad and YEAH the spit thing I have too but I think its because of the dehydration but some days seem better than other and it depends on what I eat too. I am still playing with foods but I noticed if I stick with sugar free jello and sugar free pudding that doesn't happen to me so we are just gonna have to ease into new foods gently and hopefully this will stop.
  16. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and am feeling pretty good other than the stomach spasms after I eat. I guess I just need to get use to what is ok and not ok to eat. I am down 45 pounds since Jan 03...yeah but so much farther to go...with time with time :)

  17. Hello Everyone, I am a bit new to this site and I am glad I found it. It has answered so many questions I have had and also has given me some relief from nervousness for my upcoming surgery. Well to begin, I am a 38 year old female and am scheduled for surgery this coming Tuesday Feb 22, 2011 for the Vertical Sleeve. I have been overweight since the day I came into this world. I have struggled throughout my life of gaining and loosing weight, tried many many medications and programs and in the end it all came back plus some. I was diagnosed in 2004 with Type 2 Diabetes. I had my Pre-op History and Physical yesterday and everything went well other than I am waiting for some of the blood work to still come back (they told me it could take up to 2 days.) She told me my Vitamin D level was very low so I need start taking those (very expensive to boot). Anyways nice to meet all of you, and I am very excited plus a bit nervous but ready to change my life for the better
  18. Thanks for all the great information. They prescribed me the Vitamin D 50000 UI. I ended up going to costco as you suggested and saving some money there. The doctor is having me take 1 capsule everyday for 2 weeks and then 1 capsule a week for 4 weeks. Gosh she is really loading me up on it so my Vit.D blood level must had been more lower than I thought it was. Anyways, I will keep you all updated on my surgery but I am feeling really confident. My surgeon is Dr. Eibes of Des Moines and he has a great reputation. Everything has been really easy and has just fell into place the way it should. The great thing is that he is really good and so is his staff. They are on the ball with everything. I highly reccommend them if anyone lives here in Iowa. Thanks all
