THE STALL HAS BROKEN!!!! Dropped 5lbs thanks to the magnesium citrate!!!!!!!

What's happening is that your esophogus is trying to squeeze the liquid into a swollen stomach, which causes a back-up in your esophogus and it begins to contract! That's what the spasms are. Like a contraction when giving birth but in your esophogus. I had this pain for almost 5 weeks b/c I was so swollen. Everything hurt!! Water, juice, pops, Soup, etc. I wasnt able to get a full 64oz of liquid in until a few weeks ago and I'm 9wks out! But... I can honestly say it does get better! As soon as your stomach starts to heal, you will be able to drink and eat normally, without the pain! It's perfectly normal and will go away! My advice is to take smaller sips and breathe, relax, and take your time!

OMG, I'm feeling the same way! Do you get nauseous just thinking about eating? I do.... I dont know what's going on. I was sick last week with a cold and ever since then my stomach has been so mean to me! Nothing goes down good; nothing tastes good! Just thinking about eating is making me queezy. I'm 7wks out and cant eat more than 3 or 4 bites of anything and then have to battle to keep it down. Before last week I was fine and was able to get all my requirements in but between last wk and this wk, things are getting worse. I'm hoping it's just this cold that's making things difficult, but only time will tell. If it gets worse I'm gonna call my doctor!

This is a great question since I was wondering the same thing! I'm almost 8wks out and am still making delicious dinners for the family but after I taste it or bring it to work for lunch, it doesn't really taste all that great anymore. For example, I'm trying to eat my homemade refried Beans right now and after the first bite goes in my stomach starts to turn and I hold back the urge to gag. I attempt to take more than 3 or 4 bites and I just cant do more. I also made my world famous teriyaki chicken the night before and when I ate it it tasted so bland to me!

I'm happy to hear that after about 3 months the desire for good food will return but right now it's awful. I LOVE my cooking and I am a pretty good cook so it's annoying to not really enjoy your own food right now... LOL....

I agree!! Take her money and run!!! Flaunt it in her face with a new outfit... You know, I was against the Sleeve in the beginning simply because I have known people who have had the RNY and have regainned weight back. (( Prime example... Carney Wilson )). However, after more and more research about the Band and the Sleeve, here I am getting the Sleeve on 26 April 11. Your mom sounds like a "negative Nancy" regardless if you were dieting and exercising to lose weight or doing surgery. Some people are naturally like that and will never change. Just let it go in one ear and out the other!! I have a lot of people on my mother's side of the family who are like that and I just let it roll off my back. If I didnt, I would be in a constant war with them all the time.
My advice, take the bet. shake hands and make her pay up come 2013!!!! Make her pay again in 2015!! Then again in 2017 when you're STILL at goal and rocking your new body!!

That's so weird.... I was ALWAYS cold pre-surgery!! I slept with a down blanket year round, always wore sweat-shirts and rarely broke a sweat! I've been sleeved for about 6 wks now and havent really noticed a difference! I still sleep with my comforter and wear sweat-shirts in the evening.... I've only lost about 25lbs so far, so I guess after I start losing more weight I'll start to get super cold now???? Should I bring a sweat-shirt jacket to keep at the office, just in case???

Keeping a journal of food is not that hard. I mean, how is she gonna know that you actually only ate what you wrote down? I'm not encouraging you to "cheat" but is it required that you lose a certain amount of weight before you are approved for surgery? If not, I wouldn't torture myself until I have to. I was really lucky and only had to do a 3 day pre-op diet of Clear liquids and that was extremely hard! But let me tell you, I had a lot of "Last Suppers" before surgery.

Again, what I say is just a thought and I want to make it perfectly clear that I'm not encouraging you to lie to your nutritionist. I'm just thinking out loud.... LOL

Yay!!! I will be done with my 3 month in april and even if it's going slow its going kinda fast. I agree that it is actually good to have waited. I found a great doctor and a wealth of info on here I would never had otherwise
