  1. My cousin is about to get a band in September. When I first heard that she was getting the band I told her that I had just gotten my first fill and that I was doing great. She said, "What's a fill?" I educated her a bit and was left wondering if she had enough info to make the band work for her. Anyways, she just told me that she talked to her doctor about fills and that he "never heard of such a thing." She said that he has never heard of filling the band with saline and that he was "one of the first doctors to bring the band to the states." I couldn't believe my ears!!! She thinks I'm nuts for having my band filled!! What is going on? I'm now wondering if she is safe in this doctor's hands, but she doesn't believe me about the fills....I just printed out he Lap Band Overview page from Lapband.com where it talks about fills and saline, but anyone have any advice? For those who Pray

Please pray for Baby Ethan, a 5 month old baby boy who has been diagnosed with leukemia. Ethan has been fighting for his life for several months, and the time has come for a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, a match has not been found yet. Please pray that Ethan's match is found and he is healed. You can visit his website and see pictures and videos of him. There is also information on how to become a bone marrow donor (only involves a cheek swab to put you into the national database). www.ethanpowell.com

How do I take my daily meds?

I'm not sure how big your pills are, but I'm on BCP, Zyrtec, which are both pretty small, and I have been swallowing them since the day of surgery (4 days ago). I've also been swallowing Norco, which it the pain med. I haven't had any problems, and my Dr. said that usually pills can be swallowed because we don't have any fill, but if it causes you discomfort to make sure that they can be crushed before doing so. Hope that helps!

Imus show suspended due to racial comments

Sunta, I totally agree with you. I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology, and I've taken plenty of diversity classes. What I don't know how to do is explain the concepts to people who are so closed to exploring their own position in society (people don't want to admit that they're part of the problem). Sunta, are you an educator?

Imus show suspended due to racial comments

I believe Sunta here is talking about the invisible privelege that white people (especially white men) have. She is not referring to whether you grew up in a weathy household, went to an excellent school, etc. She is talking about the white privelege that ALL white people are born with...we can't see it, but minorities can. A really really good video (documentary) that attempts to explain this is called The Color of Fear. It has 8 men of all different ethnicities and races talking to each other about their race issues. Really eye-opening, and explains Sunta's point exactly.

Well, that's because this society isn't "equal."
