  1. Eso0402 can you order them online? Unjury.com sells the protein in a lot of flavours and also sells the chewable vitamins. Also Amazon.com sells some as well. Hope this helps.
  2. Hello I am sorry your having issues with getting in your protein. Some ways to add protein to your diet is to add some unflavored protein to it. I have used UNJURY unfloavored powder. I added in anything I could to boost protein. Additionally look for protein water, peanut butter, ricotta cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs, nuts and beans like others have suggested. As for the vitamins if you can’t swallow them look into liquid ones. I couldn’t swallow them still can’t 8 years out. I use the chewable or liquid ones. They help a lot. Hope things get better.

    Weightloss and Curves

You will loose fast in the first few months after surgery. I started at 298 was 275 when sleeved in 2010. I went down to 135. My goal was 125 (I’m 5”2’). I never got to my goal I began looking like a skeleton with skin. I stopped the liquid and didn’t measure anything and basically ate till I was full. Well here I am 8 years our and I fluctuate between 165-185. Depending how active I am. I never lost my butt or hips or boobs. I lost mostly the excess fat on my thighs, arms and back and belly. So it is possibly to get to goal or below and still keep your curves. Just remember that the lower your weight the healthier it is on your heart and organs. Take it slow and don’t worry. Your body will find its new normal and you will be ok. Just remember that it’s 3x harder to loose the weight once it’s gained back. I know I have been trying for over a year now. Old habits are hard to break. Best of luck.

    Surgery 7/17 confused

Go easy on yourself. Your still in the post op phase. You need to understand that you just have to sip small amounts. Your not trying to power chug water or other liquids. When I was sleeved in 2010 I could even tolerate water. I had to suck on crushed ice for the first few days. I also used a small plastic medicine cup (like they give your meds in hospital) to take small sip every few mins. I did that for about 2 weeks. Also I found that warm liquids went down better then ice cold. Flavored water worked better then plan for me. If your still having issues with liquids coming back up. Sit in an up right position when drinking or eating. Until the swelling is down. Hope this helps.
  6. I consider what I paid well worth it. I have lifetime access to the dietitians. Plus they have a weight loss support group that is free. I have heard of people paying less. However, I had mine done in 2010. So the sleeve was new to being accepted by insurance. I was the very first person sleeved in by my doctor. I had conworkers who paid double that in years before me for the rue n y bypass. Remember the more a doctor preforms the surgery and the more it becomes the medical norm the cheaper the procedures become.
  7. I’m 7 years out. I was the first sleeve done in my local hospital. I think I pause $1200 out of pocket and about 42,000 for the entire thing. But I had to do 6 months of office visits, psych, nutritionist and exercise program. I was in the hospital 3 days and had 2 post op follow ups. I also have unlimited access for life to the weight loss people. So I consider that a worthwhile cost.
  8. @Pleasedontjudgeme Honey relax and take a moment to celebrate what you have accomplished. This is a life style change not a race. I know your having doubts. I got them too only mine hit 30 mins after I woke from the surgery. I am 7 years and 7 months out. So I have hit every stage you can imagine. I even regained some weight. I get what your all experienceing. Please don’t get discouraged or start the “stinking thinking”. It took me at least 5 weeks before I had large jumps in weight loss. I still don’t have major swings and I am back to basics measuring and liquids. Yiur all doing. Wonderful. It take months to heal completely and your still figuring out all the emotional changes as well. Stay focused and follow the doctors directions. You will see changes happening. Take a picture of yourself. Print it out and then have a family member hold it. In a month take another to compare. You will see the changes before you know it you will be amazed at the progress. Have a blessed day.

    Question about diet

Hi I been sleeved 5 yrs now. So I have been right where your at. I started at 285 lbs. had to do 6 months diet, exercise and nutritional and physiological counsling. I went to 247 lbs day of surgery. But that was hard. I also quit smoking and drinking carbonated soda and removed sugars. The liquid stage was easy for me. I just drank everything. Slept and was great. I only had 1 issue and it was a stomach bug that bounced me to ER for dehydration (gotta love kids thy give us all the goodies). I lost to my goal within 7 months past surgery 125-130lbs. But I felt to thin and looked like a skeleton with skin. I'm only 5 3" With dr permission I gained back to 135 and held that for 4 years. I recently fell off the wagon. (Numerous stressors in my life 5 deaths since October 14). So I am back on wagon liquids and measuring. I didn't have a chance to cheat pre op. since my date was suppose to be nov 2010 I got called and bumped up ASAP for my surgery. I was approved for the sleeve and head honchos and reps and dr's were all coming in to watch the 1st ever sleeve done in the hospital. I did have to do Clear Liquids and Protein for 2 weeks and th night before I had to do a gallon of GI cleaner. Yuck. Now that stuff is horrid. 3 days post op stay for observation and home. I was up and walking and in the mall shopping by day 6.

    Pain in abdomen

Hi all. The pain is normal. It's the muscle layer under the stomach healing. It will be fine. I have had my sleeve 5 years now and all the incisions are almost invisible. Just so you are all aware. I experiance what feels like a Charlie horse on my left side in that area from time to time. It can happen when bending over or taking a bath or just over use of that muscle. Others who have had WLS I have spoken too all experiance this same pain. You can feel the muscle tightening up. To avoid it do these things. Take plenty potassium ( I use supplements because I am allergic to potatoes) and avicados taste horrible to me. And bananas don't provide enough for me. I also take a magnesium supplement. I don't use the bariatric Vits. They are to expensive and don't supply enough minerals and Vits. So my dr has me on supplements needed per my blood tests. But just be aware of this shoukd you experiance this 3-6 months down the line.

    My story is new gossip:(

I have been sleeved for 5 years. When I made my decision I heard all that crap too. As a matter of fact my boss at the time was scheduled to have hers done before me. So she felt slighted that I to was having it she was a great deal heavier. However I ha been having issues with my health for over 6 years prior and I had a hubby and 2 children to think about. She and another lady that had a band always made comments and talked about me. My closest friend there was a RnY bypass with 3 years out. She told me. Look their gonna talk. You will drop more weight fast because you have less to loose and she won't like it. But it's your life. I had surgery and it happens just like she said. By the time I was back 3 weeks later I was down 42 lbs. she was sleeved 1 month prior and has lost 40 but you couldn't tell much. I was told I cheated, was lazy because I did not attend her support group or Zumba classes. I did my own at another location. All my family supported me in person and on the phone and still do. My husband is my biggest fan. He tells me no matter what I look like he loves me. So if anyone asks I tell them yeah I had it done. Had to to fix problems with my health. If they give me any BS I ask them if they could come visit me for a month and we will live on liquid Protein together and work and all the other stuff we have to do and. See who is stronger. I don't bull s it it. I'll tell them plain out it is my body and I choose what I do. If you son like it or the way I live to bad. God choose me to do a specific purpose in life and if gastric sleeve is part of that who am I to argue. I also ask them how much they spend each month on medications, ciggaretts and side pop. Along with all the other crap they eat. That usually ends their rants.

    Need advice:

I had my choice of all three. By pass band or sleeve. My friends had the Rny bypass an she has gained back almost all her weight. A band friends had issues with erosion and others had the port problem. I researched and choose the sleeve. I am 5 years out on the sleeve. Started at 285 dec 2010. Now I am at 164 I got down to 130 at my lowest but looked like a skeleton with skin so I opted to adjust my goal (which I hit). I have since gained above my goal of 150. So I am back on a closely watched meal plan. I take Vits daily just as those with bypass. So there is really not a big difference in the meal or life style after. I did suffer from all the reflux, heartburn an such prior toy surgery. Haven't had any since 2 weeks out. I can eat 4-6 oz per Meal and have never had a issue. I am off all meds and I took about 8 prior to surgery. Regardless of what is Gold standard or not. In my region no one is even Doing the by pass much any more. Due to complications With the stomach that is left inside the body. I always advise research then research again and ask people in your area who have used your medical experts and staff. Get their actual feed back. Good luck. I wouldn't change my decision.

    What do you say?

I am sleeved 5 years. Started at 285 dec 09. Sleeved oct 28,2010. I told people I had to have stomach surgery due to health issues. Mine was to fix hiatel hernia. I also had ulcers. So that what I tell them. I suffered with stomach issues and complications of them for 6 years prior so usually have no ill comments. I never kept it a secret. So If asked I tell them. I am 161.4 as of today. I gained back 30 lbs. which is my own darn fault. I ate junk for a few to many months/year. But I am back on here and on liquids and loosing already. I'm down 5 lbs since Friday.
  14. Some where on the web you can google it. Is a listing of all sorta of shakes and other liquid drinks for post op. I'm not a rep for any brand. But I did find unjury to have great chicken flavored Protein. As well as cheese flavor. It can be added to soups and such. When your passed the liquid stage you can add the cheese to vegs or even Quinones or low carb noodles for Mac n cheese. Oh I also blended stuff I liked into purée. When I could. Otherwise just shakes and puddings. Simple protein puddings are easy and cheap. 3 oz dixi cups 1 box sugar free pudding. You choice of flavor 2 cups non fat milk. (6 oz protein) 2 scoops unjury unflavored protein (22 G protein) Mix in bowl until smooth. Pour into cups chill till set. You can eat anytime. Works to about nine 2 1/2 oz cup pudding approx 9-12 grams protein each +\- depending on the milk you use. I make these daily they really help that need for desert are small and you are not tempted to take a larger portion then you should. Works great with Jello as well. Make 2 boxes for protein pies for holidays. Use low sugar gram crust add fruit for deco.
  15. Ladies. I'm a 5 year leaved pre menopausal mess. Lol. However. I did experiance heavier periods for a few months after surgery. I had another Ob procedure done 10 months before that was to remove a tumor on uterus. They said it would cause issues it didn't until I was sleeved. I also experienced cold spells as the weight fell off. Also major hair loss about 2-3 months out. That stopped too. It's all a re adjustment of the hormone levels. If anything to extreme appears call dr ASAP. It leveled out and became regular again well until January of this year. Now it's any keys guess if and when it will arrive.
