    Please Read And Help!

I think maybe I'd find a new doctor / surgeon.. and call a lawyer. Sounds to me like there were mistakes done in your care. I think it is extremely clumsy that they punctured your lung doing a routine procedure - that just doesn't sit right with me, and I'd run far away from that hospital - can you share which hospital - so I know never to go there? I really hope you get past this and will be praying for you, my wife had a similar situation with a kidney stone - it was one of the smallest the doctor ever saw, yet almost killed her when she got septic and because of her septicemia she still feels sluggish and fatigued two years later. I read that trauma to your system like that can cause issues like Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia.. so be careful, and hang in there.
  3. I just want to get it done and over w/ so I don't have to worry about it anymore..pain /discomfort is always "less of a pain" in the rearview mirror so to speak. hehe. I just want it to be done and be month 3... I seriously wish I could like skip forward 3 months like on Click that would be nice lol.
  4. Well, I could just see - if you're flying home after surgery or not going to have 'aftercare' as is the case w/ the Mexican surgeries, that they would probably just remove it. I'm sure all doctors are different though.. I also am getting 2 fun-filled weeks of Lovenox injections yay! Don't know if all doctors give that either.
  5. I think it's to ensure that there are no leaks. Were you done locally, or away from home(e.g. Mexico)?
  6. Did you add me on Facebook? I can add you to the group as soon as you add me, just let me know your name on Facebook.

Yeah except ladyivy dashed those hopes, my only chance is if I got like 6 or 7 inches hiding away in there lol then I might hit 13. Maybe happy sticks are like pyramids and only a third us showing. Now once we excavate, you get the great pyramid at Giza, lol -a guy can dream right? If it works I'm gonna write one of those penis enlargement books, sell my secret for $20 a pop. The book will have one sentence: lose 300 pounds. Lol
  14. My thoughts on how to do a food Funeral the right way: These are some thoughts I had today, about how to 'justify' having a food funeral and doing it the healthy way. 1. Make a goal that you need to have 10 days this month that you eat under 1000 calories before you can have your food funeral. They don't need to be consecutive. 2. Do not have any food funerals, do not eat any fast food - if you do - try salads MCDs has an awesome Southwest salad. 3. Swear off Soda now, you're not gonna be able to drink it post-op, and it hurts the lining of your stomach - so it might make surgery go smoother if you just don't drink anything but Water from here on out (if you're like me and can't do water, try propel - I love PROPEL! ) 4. Do it on YOUR terms -have a plan before you go in, on what you're gonna order and how much you're going to eat. Take a friend and split your entree with them, try eating less - and when you do eat take very small bites and practice eating the way you would post-sleeve. For instance I'm planning 1 food funeral before I go under.. till then I will try my hardest not to cheat - which I've done a pretty good job. Normally when I go to my favorite restaurant I stuff myself full of wings - I eat about 15 - I'm going to order 7 next time and a side salad. It is still a lot of calories but its a smarter choice, and that's what this is all about! When you do it on your own terms, you can't feel guilty about it because it's 'allowed' and it's not cheating. Plus this way you won't feel like you need to have one every day at all your favorite places, because it's almost like a challenge to do your best, then you get this one reward before surgery. It's also healthy to think that this isn't goodbye forever, you'll see that food again, it's goodbye for a hundred pounds or more... It's goodbye with court ordered time with the food every once in awhile but lot less amounts hehe... Enough with analogies, that's just my thought on how to conquer some of the 'mental' stuff going into this surgery, and to still have your favorite food (but you will need to pick your most favorite, which I know can be hard hehe - but you can do it!) Of course, I'm still a pre-op'er, I would love to hear some post-op'ers views on this.

    Holy Crap...

I read that soy milk has estrogen in that can hold on to fat, one glass a day is good, but I'd mix it up a bit - I bought this delicious almond milk - it's called "So Delicious - Almond Milk Plus" it has added protein as a bonus - like 5 grams of protein, so will help get that extra protein in, and it only has 1 grams of carbs, and 40 calories, and 2 grams of fat, very low sodium too. Gives my choco-coconut protein powder mix a nice nutty flavor.

    Just Starting (Part 2)

Thanks for sharing why you're doing this. This is going to be the best decision of our lives, I'm certain about it. I've already lost 20 pounds pre-op in the past 2 weeks (my surgery is July 2nd) - trying to jumpstart my surgery success. I'm excited to see where I am in a year . Doing it all by myself just isn't a reality though cause I love food too much and will eventually fall off the train. Surgery is really the only thing I think that will help me reach my goal. Good luck in your process, let me know if there's anything I can do for ya!
  18. Great insites Emily.. definitely sounds like the life I want to live - first I got to get there, and I want to work as hard as I possibly can personally to speed up everything cause I'm impatient which means working extra hard at the gym, and not eating any of my fave food or very little of it anyways. I have a LOT to lose I want to lose at least 200 pounds in the next year.. 300 would be better but seems a little daunting - I think it could be done if I really push at the gym. Once I lose the weight the sleeve will help me keep it off while I enjoy all my faves. Frankly I'd be ok with weighing 300 pounds again. At 650 that would be a huge improvement.
  19. That's awesome that you're already learning how to live post-sleeve. My biggest worry was not being able to stick to the preop diet the first few weeks and hurting myself which is why I'm being very careful now - so that I know for a certainty I can do it, and I think I can - plus every pound I lose now, brings down my chances of complications.
  20. Yeah, but cutting out soda can't hurt... and I'm certain drinking more water is definitely a 'better' choice in most cases.. but that kinda got off on a tangent lol .. my point was that - I think you can do food funerals of you also practice control - cause that's what this whole process is about -learning self-control.
  21. My mom is super healthy too and she smokes cigarettes, does that mean she won't ever catch lung cancer? probably not.. because one person you know who drinks or does something is healthy now, does not mean it's still good for you to do it. Just sayin'.
  22. Well from a stand-point of changing your life, I don't see any 'health' value to soda at all. There is no reason to drink it and it DOES have negative effects: 1: The acid and phosporous in sodium leech Calcium from bones, teeth, etc. 2. Stains teeth. 3. Have you seen what soda can do to a penny if you leave it in long enough? my point is that there are a lot of better choices out there, and I personally feel soda should be avoided from here on out, it's a personal choice - but the dr will also recommend no soda following surgery - mine doesn't want me drinking it 10 days before either.. so there's gotta be a good reason for that.

Whats Better Sleeve Or Ru En Y?

imho sleeve is better -because when I'm 60 or 70 I'm going to probably need to take a lot of medicine (don't all elderly people? hehe no offense to the youth challenged in here) but seriously- with RNY you don't absorb medicine correctly which means dosing you is going to be difficult - the doctor is going to try different doses and he could end up killing you with a lethal dose, or putting you in the hospital because your absorption rate isn't normal, or under-dose you and you end up in the hospital because the medicine isn't working as intended... I'm thinking about my long-term health. The sleeve also doesn't have dumping and frankly I do not want to swear off my favorite foods for life, instead just till I reach goal. Also, I'm 650 so the sleeve is safer for me than rny as well. Also the sleeve won't stretch like the bypass does. I've also read a lot of cases where the sleeve has actually been better in the long-run than the bypass -and a lot of bypass patients who've gained back a lot of weight. Ultimately though it is a personal choice on how you want to live your life, and the malnourishment/absorption of vitamins/medicine/etc plus never being able to eat some of my favorite foods again is just not something I am wanting to live with.
