  1. I also don't function well on low-carb diets. Your brain needs carbs to work properly. The key is to not over-do it with the carbs. I have never done low carb since being sleeved. I can't stand the dizziness, and sluggishness I feel when I low-carb. You are right, everyone is different and while those type diets work for some, other diets can work just as well. Try to LC after you are sleeved. If it doesn't work for you again, try something else. Trial and error.

    Good luck to yousmile.gif

  2. I think you did just fine. Lick the biscuits. That made me laugh out loud!!! Hey, you still have to enjoy life. Just like everyone already said, an occasional treat is not going to derail you. Deprivation is what leads to excess in my opinion. Let yourself have treats now and then. I love Red Lobster, seafood is my second favorite food after Mexican. Yummy!

    Happy Birthday, btw.smile.gif

  3. 16 weeks here and down 57 pounds from day of surgery and 67 pounds since pre-op. Ashamed to say I have not been exercising at all. I can tell it, too. It is just so dang hot here and the treadmill is so boring, but I KNOW I need to for my own good. I feel like my muscles are wasting awayblink.gif

Thanks for reviving this thread. I hope everyone is feeling good!

Oh! btw, I have been losing hair like CRAZY for about a month. I have lost at least 1/3 of my hair volume. People say they can't tell, but good grief, I am worried because most people say they lost their hair for at least 3 months. 2 more months of this, and I will be buying myself a blue Katy Perry wig!!! lolbiggrin.gif

I don't care, though. It's ALL worth it. Already down from a size 20 to 14/16 in my jeans and boy does that ever make me forget about the hair! It will grow back!!!

  4. Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story here. I think you have done a tremendous job already and I congratulate you on your huge loss! That kind of work takes such determination that I know you will do fine after surgery!

You said that we were probably wondering why you would opt for surgery, but the truth is, we have all lost loads of weight, over and over and OVER again. The hard part, and the part we can't seem to master, is the keeping it off. Maintenance is the tricky part. I know I never could manage it for long.

That's too bad about the 19 months not counting towards your supervised dieting. But, hey, you are an old pro at it now. It should be a breeze!!

So, yeah, we understand for sure! Glad you decided to come here and I look forward to any updates you have.smile.gif

  5. I second the idea of stir frying them. They taste better with something on them! We get them all the time and enjoy them.

I have to say though, I live in the South and you CAN NOT beat some good 'ol fresh Gulf shrimp. The oil spill was devastating to the Gulf, but they have recovered. Just went to Biloxi a couple weeks ago. Soooo yummy!

Awwww, doesn't look like I will make it either (well, maybe if I go hard-core low-carb..=), but I am happy with what I have lost so far. Got myself into onderland, too!biggrin.gifCan't complain!!!

Hopefully I will have lost another pound by the 4th which will put me at 30 pounds lost for this 4th of July goal and that makes me so hopeful!!

Good luck everybody! We're in the final stretchsmile.gif

  8. Maybe it is the bread, but I will say that sleevers can tolerate bread after surgery, just maybe not as early out as you are.

It will get easier in time. That sounds like a lame cliche, but I certainly found it to be true.

Good luck to you, and believe me, you did NOT make a mistake by being sleeved.smile.gif

  9. I had my surgery on March 2nd 2011 and in under 4 months have offically today lost 100lbs!! I feel like climbing on my roof and telling the whole world!! I'm so very happy! Only about 30lbs till I hit my goal weight!! I heart my sleeve, even after getting kidney stones lol!

    Congrats! That is truly amazing.smile.gif

You might need to change your ticker...it still says 94 pounds left to lose!!
