About Me

HELLO WORLD!

My name is Kim, I am 27 years old, and I have been fighting a weight loss battle for at least 14 years. I decided to begin an online journal to allow those with similar stories to follow. July 2010 was when I decided to reach out for help by way of surgery. I have tried everything from Weight Watchers, LA Weight loss, Sparks Online Community and many more.

Just imagine, for those who have not experienced this, being a 13 year old girl joining Weight Watchers with your mother in hopes of losing weight, while most normal teens are eating what they wanted, and doing everything but focusing on weight. I remember going into the 8th grade at 183 pounds. I was devastated and could not understand why. I was very active. I played softball, basketball, and even was a cheerleader. But as time went on, living a normal life and fitting in became more important, and my weight loss soon fell to the waist side.

Since deciding to seek help through surgery, I chose the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG). I have googled everything about Gastric Bypass, Lap Band, and VSG to the point of no return. I decided on VSG. This particular procedure requires the least amount of office maintenance, and the least amount of health risks. Another reason why I chose to start a blog was because when I researched, not many people had stories they shared about the VSG procedure. When googling, most were about the Gastric Sleeve and the Lap Band procedure.

July 2010 I began my weight loss journey. I weighed in at 264.5 pounds and I stand at 5'5. I have maintained that weight (not that I really wanted to) throughout the program. I met with a Surgeon by the name of Dr Peter Liao. Not only is this Doctor an upstanding Surgeon, but he agreed with my decision to pursue VSG. He told me that the insurance company requires you to be followed by a nutritionist for 6 months, and by month 6 I would receive my surgery date. With that being said, I completed my 5th visit today, and December 1st I meet with him again to set the date for my surgery.

I will post pics of my journey, describe my struggles, and keep all who are interested in my success up to date. Please pray for me and keep me in your thoughts. I am here to meet people with similar situations, and all who have not committed to a weight loss journey who need help to understand the process.
