  1. Kim and Julie, Thanks - it's nice to know I'm not the only one that is having (had) this issue. Just checking that I'm not abnormal. .. Well, in that way anyway..
  2. Thank you for the responses and encouragement. I went out and bought a great new scale that tracks your weight loss for you, and when it wasn't moving, it about made me nuts...lol I have about 70 pounds left to lose, and just thought it would be really quick in the beginning and then slow down. But I am hanging in there remembering it took me 40 some years to get here, I can't expect to fix it too quickly. Coops - Thanks for the suggestion on measurements - I should have been doing that. You're right - there are more ways to measure your progress. I just expected my first two-three weeks to show big losses. But since when does my body do what I expect it to?...lol
  3. I know you are not supposed to weight yourself every day. I also know that not everyone loses the same. However, I am a bit OCD, and I weigh myself every single day (sometimes twice a day -pathetic I know). My first week I gained a few, and then lost them and had a total loss of 6 pounds. I am now almost done with week 2, and have only lost 1 pound in the last 6 days. It is not possible that I am not losing weight since I am only getting about 300-400 calories per day at this point. I am walking 2-3 miles each day so I am getting excersize. Has anyone else experienced this?
  4. Good luck - I hope it goes well for you. I have Aetna and my BWI is actually lower than yours. However, I have a huge family history of diabetes, and heart disease, and I was told that factored into the approval. Even though I have no co-morbidities at the current time (except for borderline blood pressure issues) they probably figured it was only a matter of time.
  5. [Thank you for that, so can you blend ice in your Protein shake for the 1st couple of weeks? I was wondering cause it makes it a little thick. Thank for repling, As far as I know, you can blend ice with anything. I just find that the thicker the drink, the harder it is for me to get down. Its much easier now, but the thicker Protein shakes do make me feel fuller. I actually made flavored ice cubes, and put them into my crystal light so that i stays colder longer since it takes me about 90-120 min to get down the 12-16 oz bottle.
  6. Every doctor seems to have different post-op instructions. MIne is broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, crystal light, low calorie drinks and Protein shakes for three weeks. I don't like plain broth so have been buying Raman Noodles and throwing away the noodles...lol But that broth seems to taste the best to me..
  7. I am 8 days post-op and will add my 2 cents on the nausea. First, it was really helpful to know that it was normal. I think part of it was caused by the pain meds, and part was due to dehydration., I also had a LOT of weakness and felt really lathergic. I added some gatorade to my liquids and felt much better,. Once I had some carbs in my system, I felt a little more energy right away. Today I took 3 1 mile walks, and will get all 64 ounces of Fluid down. sugar free popsicles help- I have one in my hand at all times. My hubby says I am going to break the bank with his needing to buy me popsicles every day.. I would also like to thank everyone for their stories about the post-op weight loss. I was down 5 pounds about 4 days after surgery and have not lost one pound since. But I realized that I was just gaining a little in fluids cus I was dehydrated, and I know I'm burning fat. I just need to need to learn not to weigh myself daily. For those who have not yet been sleeved, everyone reacts differently. Yes, I was really nauseas, but it only lasted a couple of days. And it came in waves. I found that if I relaxed and didn't fight it, it went away faster. Every day the neausea started a litle later in the day. By day 6 it was all gone. I also found that if I had a sugar free popsicle before I got out of bed in the morning it helped.... Kind of like saltines for a pregnant woman.
  8. You are doing great.. Three days post op I was in the emergency room with dry heaves and I couldn't stop crying.lol The first few days are the toughest.. I am now 8 days post op and feel almost normal..
