  1. I'm having trouble drinking the three shakes a day, plus water, and food. I've looked at some protein pills, some say how much protein is in them and some don't. Has any found any protein pills that are worth purchasing?

    Slleeve since Sept 27, 2010

I'm just a week out and the heartburn was killing me. I'm taking over the counter prilosec, but my doctor said they would do a prescription med if they had too. If it doesn't work call ur doctor. I'm no mushy foods and I feel like it just sits in my throat for a couple of hours before it goes on down, idk. i'm use to get me a drink of water to help things move on, but you can't do that, I did the other day and thought I was gonna die. I hope it gets better for you.

Second week post op - no loss

What does your doctor say? And also do you have alot of weight to lose? I've got about 200 left to lose now, I was sleeved Friday (10-8) and have lost 16 lbs. and, lost 18 on post op diet. I don't want to lose my weight as fast as I'm losing it either, but I've been sick the last two days with vomitting and diarrhea. Are you scales accurate? I went and bought a brand new digital set and paid quite a bit for them. I'm just like you, I say, "I'm not weighing today," but let me walk past the scale early in the morning and I'm on them, lol. You may get up one morning and have dropped 4 or 5. Keep doing what you know is right and talk to your doctor about it, seems to me that is all you can do at this point. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!!!!!
  4. I was sleeved Friday and mine has been more pain to me than the surgery. My doctor said, as I lose weight it should get better and I should take prilosec or some liquid medicine. I'm taking malox right now. I think it will get better as the weight continues to come off.
  5. Well, I'm alive. With the liquid diet I had lost 18 lbs. and since Surgery Friday, I've lost 3 more. I hope you're doing well.

  6. Is anyone else getting sleeved Friday? I am excited but nervous....and I must say the 2 week liquid diet is awful. I had horrible headaches the first couple of days and then my GERD (acid reflux) got horrible. Had to triple my medicine to calm it down. My husband comes home yesterday and tells me that his co-worker told him that he better tell me he loves me before I go into surgery. Okay, why did he tell ya that? Because another co-workers mom had the bypass done and never recovered from it and died 8 months later. I'm thinking gee thanks. I know he loves me, but it did get me to thinking the what if. I was nervous enough, dang! Wishing anyone else getting theirs good luck and I haven't weighed during my liquid stage, so I have no ideal how much I've lost.

Glad I've got a sleeve buddy, lol.
  11. Well, the liquids have started, yuck! My surgery date is October 8th, so liquid diet for two weeks. I'm on day 4 and really struggling. I've had migraines, nausea, chest pains, and reflux. I've got GERD disease and it really hates all the protein shakes and liquids. I've double my acid medicine and it still hasn't stopped it, but I'm gonna make it, this has been my dream for about 3 years now. Nothing is gonna stop me from making my dreams come true!! Anyone else have the same date as me??:001_tt2:

    I need some Help please!

I don't know how easy a medical loan is, but I've noticed several on here have went to a doctor in Mexico for the surgery. It is almost as cheap as my co-pay was. I went and looked at their website and it's a really nice center. If your money is tight, you might want to consider that. Just get on here and read what some of the ones that went Mexico have written and check it out closely before making a decision.

    October Surgeries!!

I'm gettin sleeved October 8th in Arkansas. My pre-op diet is full liquids for two weeks. I am struggling on my 4th day. Had severe headaches, nausea, and my reflux is horrible. I've double my reflux medicine and it has helped. We're all gonna make it, we just have to put our minds to it and picture ourselves in those little skinny people clothes, lol. Good luck to all of you!!

    Pre-Op Liquid diet questions

My nurse was suppose to send me my liquid diet directions that I am suppose to start in the a.m. She sent the wrong form and I can not get a hold of her. If someone has this, can they send me a list of things I can have on a full liquid pre-op diet? I'm sure most are the same. Thank you and btw my big day is October 8th!!!!
  15. I posted on nutrition forum and no one has answered. 16. I am so excited!!!! I called Friday to check on the status of my predetermination letter that was sent to the insurance, and the girl that handled my call told me that she didn't see where one had been received. That really got me down because the doctor's office said that it would take about two weeks to get all the letters out and not to call until after that. Friday was the two week mark, so I decided that if nothing had happened by Wednesday that I would call the doctor's office. Evidently, the girl at my insurance didn't know what she was talking about because they have already approved my surgery. The letter was in my mailbox today! I am so excited!!! Oh, and did I mention that I am so excited???:001_tt2:

Where is it stated?? Aetna question...

I use to have Aetna and they required alot of stuff that my new insurance doesn't. I hope you get this worked out, keep us posted!!
  19. Your date is drawing near, I wanted to wish you luck and tell you how beautiful you already are!! I will enjoy watching your progress and hope to be sleeved within the next month. Good luck and keep us posted please!

  20. I'm gonna watch your progress, your photos reminded me of myself, except I am about 50 lbs. larger. I wish you the best of luck!

  21. TwoStepsBack you can help pull me out if I get to this point after my surgery. No date is set yet, but I've already had days that I've cried because I couldn't just lose the weight on my own. Some days I feel like a disappointment to my family because I am having surgery to get rid of the weight, but I am doing it for my health and my family. I know my husband and boys love me, but I'm sure they will be proud of me when the weight is gone and I can enjoy life more with them. I am super obese and my weight is causing my lungs to not expand like they should, I don't want to be on oxygen at my age or at any age, so this weight is coming off baby and I'm taking it one day at a time. Don't ever think you can't talk to us, that is what we are here for!

    Question about carbonated drinks

When I attended the seminar for the surgery, we had that question come up. Dr. Gibbs said that even he understands needing a diet coke fix. He said the best way to do it and it will still taste good, open the top or pop it open whichever and let it sit for about two hours before you pour it up, that will rid alot of the carbonation out of it. I don't like diet drinks, so I will probably stick with water and flavored water, but I do know folks that have done as he suggested and say it tastes just fine and no pain from the carbonation, but he said, don't over do it either.

    How soon/How much walking

Everyone heals differently, so I'd advise to either talk to your doctor or just test the water slowly and don't over do it your first few days. Work up to a longer walk slowly.
  24. I really love the fact that I found this group, thank you all for being so imformative!
