    African American Sleevers

    Hello all, I am a 26 y/o AA and had my surgery since 10/4/10.I have been natural for the last 5 years. I have been experiencing a lot of hair loss. I am lucky that I have pretty thick hair so no one notices but me. I am also not getting in enough protein....I need some protein shots. While any feedback is totally welcome. Thanks again for starting the site. P.S. I have no stretch marks thus far and I have lost over 50lbs. I use Coconut oil on my hair and skin. That's it.

  6. I am having a difficult time staying motivated lately. I think that I am in one of my many funks, but along with it comes my bad coping mechanisms, I snack and am not drinking water. I have a hard time getting it down. Also, stop going to the gym. I have constant anxiety attacks. I have been trying to increase my protein but when I drink the shakes, it makes me very ill. I had my surgery on the 4th of October and am currently at a stale @ 183 for the last two weeks. I know to many who will read this, your first response would be to get over it and just do what I have to. That is a lot easier said than done. What I am looking for is a mentor, perhaps someone who has had a similar experience, help to encourage me. My email is mxthompson12@yahoo.com. Thanks again.

  8. At a weight loss stale and not surprised. I am having a difficult time guys. Lost my motivation and am converting back to my old ways-sneaking in snacks. I am trying to control myself. I will go to the gym in the morning and try to maintain a routine. Hopefully it works. Wish me luck.

    Protein Shake Alternatives

    I am so glad you posted this. I am having absolutely the same problem. Whenever I attempted to drink my protein shake, I will get a swallow in and then feel really sick afterwards. I thought that I was just sabotaging myself. I have also been craving more food now. I am not sure if this is my body yearning for the protein. I have eaten four times in the last two days. This is something very different for me, usually I would have no appetite. Let me know if there is anythings in particular that you do that works for you. Thanks

    Let me be honest

    I thank everyone for their posts. They were all helpful in their own little way. I had a follow up appointment with my DR and NUT and told them the same I told you all. My NUT told me that watermelon was not the best choice but told me that I could make fruit smoothies to help me. I also changed my protein brand and that has helped as well. My head is in for success but I opted not to FORCE myself to drink the protein shake and broth in fear that I would vomit. I was just simply trying to find a alternative that would give me some energy. As the healing process continues, I am feeling alot more energetic and excited. I am now on to the mushy stage and am happy about that. I am able to get alot more liquid in as well. I followed some advice and started to drink Gatorade and will start drinking coconut water. Thanks again.
