  1. Praying for all of you today...whether it's the surgery date, a few days after surgery, or a few days before it. We WILL do this!!!!!!!!!
  2. Ahhh, I see. Bummer.........
  3. Why don't they make Protein pills that we can take?
  4. Wow, I just read your experience w/this guy. I haven't the replies yet because I had to speed and scroll down so I could write you something. His behavior was UNCALLED for, UNWARRANTED, UNBELIEVABLY rude, and 'just WRONG'. Switch to another Dr. .....now. Period. And complain to the group he's associated with.
  5. Hi everyone...I'm totally new at all this. Only been on here for a few days. My surgery is in 1 week (July 19). I am very excited. I am 43, 246 pounds, 5'5" My Pre-op instructions were simple: - Day before surgery be on a liquid diet and drink 1 bottle of Magnesium Citrate. That's it. My list: - go to another store besides Walmart, Lane Bryant and Cato to buy clothes - not handing off 'playtime' with my 9 year old active son to my husband who is fit - a general 'feeling better' - not being the fattest one in the room - not dreading meeting my skinny friends - not having a backache anymore - having my joints feel better - not being so tired - KNOWING I'm healthier - sleeping better - being able to bend over to paint my toes - putting on my shoes in a non weird way - CROSSING MY LEGS - not tugging at my shirt all the time These are just a FEW things I could think of.
  6. Wow. What a 'story'. That must have been extremely hard on you. I don't know you, but I wish I did (and wish I there for you). You definitely needed someone. You are a strong person. THANK YOU for writing this. I knew coming onto these boards that I would hear, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". But isn't that what REAL life is. Surgery does NOT go well for everyone. Yes, the details were what I wanted to hear (others may not care, and I'm sure others appreciate it). Me? I loved it. Generalizations can be formed very easily ....and for me, well...I like details. So, how are you now?
  7. Is this something I'll have to do every day for the rest of my life?
  8. I have surgery in 1 week. In 2 days, I'm going to all the required appointments (nutritional, psych, exercise, pre-testing, Upper GI, etc.....all in one day!). I'm trying to do as much research as I can. And I know that I will be ordered to drink Protein drinks. Since I haven't been to the appointments yet, I haven't been told how much and what to drink. I'm sure they'll tell me, but until then, I was just wondering a few things: What exactly is the average that I'm supposed to drink a day? After surgery, when exactly do I start on the Protein Drinks? Also, I found a drink called NAKED. They have all sorts of flavors, but one is a Protein Drink. It's a juice smoothie. Here are some things off the label: (per serving which is 8 ounces) --It's flavored with apples, bananas, orange, pineapple and coconut. --No sugar added --Fat - 2g --Saturated Fat 1g --Trans Fat 0g --Cholesterol 30mg --Sodium 140mg --Potassium 480mg --Total Carbs 34 g (Diety Fiber 0g, Sugars 28g) --Protein 16g The taste is like a very thin and 'grainy' tropical milkshake Would I be able to drink this? Is this drink 'allowed'. I bought one today and I think it would be better than the vanilla and/or chocolate ones. Any advice would be wonderful.
  9. Thank You for posting this.
  10. I am a 'self-pay patient'. Our house is paid-off and so we got a Home-Equity Loan. Plan is to have it paid off in 18 months.
