    Pre-op diet, WHY?

Today is the first day of my pre-op diet. So far so good. I totally get why it is necessary as the livers of people who are obese are generally VERY fatty. This can definitely cause problems during a laproscopic procedure. So...I'm with you! We can do it! I'm so excited about finally taking this step...I'd probably eat dirt if it was in my pre-op diet instructions! LOL! Have a great day!
  6. Hi there - congrats on your surgery date!! You're on the June list. Good luck - let us know how you get on.

  7. Hello to all my new friends. Yes, I am very excited about this procedure. I've been researching and "gathering info" on it for about 2 yrs now. One of my legal colleagues had the procedure 2 yrs ago and encouraged me to check it out. Since then, I've read...read.....read...and read some more! I like this option better than the lap band because I didn't really want to leave anything in my body. I like it better than the bypass because I tend to be anemic so the change in my digestion and absorbtion could cause the anemia to flare up. That being said, this is truly the best way to go for me. I am not having surgery in the states though. As a self employed private practice attorney, I don't have health insurance. We pay for all of our medical and dental bills for the family on our own. This presented my next hurdle....how to afford the procedure. Several other colleagues suggested I look into Medical Tourism...medical procedures in other countries. I settled on a wonderful facility and doctor in Mexico. Two friends of mine in Califronia have used him and his facility and were absolutely floored by the accommodations, service, bedside manner, etc. So, with my expedited passport on the way...Yo voy al Mexico! My husband and our 5 kids will hang out and have a mini vacation in San Diego while my best friend accompanies me to have my procedure. I plan to share my post op journey and would love the continue to communicate with other "sleevers". Can someone please tell me how to create a weight loss ticker???
  8. Hi! I see you are not to far from me. Have you got a surgery date yet?

  9. Hello all! I am so excited about taking this very bold step and taking control of my life back. I will be sleeved on 6/29/10. I'm a mom of 5, married almost 18 yrs to my childhood sweet heart and have battled my weight since I was 9 years old. I'll be 39 on June 21st! Who wars for 30 years??? Anyway...I'm looking forward to any input, encouragement or tips folks are willing to share. I'm an attorney, run my own practice and homeschool my kids. So, I'm always on the computer throughout the day. So, don't be shy...stop by and say "hi"! :-) This is such an exciting time for me and for our family. Looking forward to "meeting" all my fellow "sleevers"! Blessings!:thumbup1:
