  1.    Catitude reacted to a post in a topic: Fat Arms?
  2. I started at 255 and wore a size 24 tightly By 225 I could wear 18's and im at 198 now wearing 16 comfortably !
  3. I had my 4th fill 2 weeks ago when i went into my Dr.'s office and had only lost 2lbs. i am now filled with 2.5cc in a 10cc band. My restriction is good but i CAN NOT eat breakfast. I can only drink a protein shake or smoothie and sometimes get away with a yogurt or cottage cheese. Yet, as my day goes on i am able to eat more solid food and soups with pieces in them, and by the end of the day i can get in apx. 3 oz of meat and 2 oz. of veggies. Does anyone else have this daily constriction problem ?
  4. I personally have to be on liquids for 2 days after a fill, then soft foods for 2 weeks, im really tight right now but i like it bc im losing at a good rate. I CAN NOT eat food in the morning, i dont know why but all i can do is drink, then as the day goes on my ability to eat increases. Trying starting your day off with softer foods.
  5. I too experienced very similar problems and results. BUT because of the results i was achieving i choose to alter my eating habits to liquids for a week then slowly bringing foods back into my diet, i find that i cant eat a lot of things now that im tighter but hey im down to a size 16 which is SO worth it to me. If you have a problem drinking a protein shake at that time i would concider an unfil (slighly) (like .25cc) but only bc you need those nutrients. Good luck !
  6. I want to know too !!! Im only 20 and currently single but i assume that some day this will apply to me
  7. Hang in there !!! hypothyroidisum is a tricky thing, and it may take your body longer to get adjusted not only to the band but to the medications. How are you doing now? any progress ?
  8. watch out for those mashed potatoes even watery they can be too heavy for you pouch to handle right away. Good luck !
  9. I would almost swear that they forgot to band me after my surgery for the first 2 weeks, but now i know its there. sometimes in the day i cant feel my port by just pushing on my stomach, but if i drink apx 20+ oz for some reason my port sticks out more and i can feel it better.
  10. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE muscle milk lite "chocolate milk" it has 25g of protein per scoop, i put 2 scoops in 12 oz of water and thats a meal for me with close to 60g of protein !!! Also i found these things at a local smoothie king and they look like tube shots, they have 47g of protein in the tube. they taste like a melted popcicle but if you can swallow one a day your gonna get in all your required protein.
  11. Id be more concerned if you wern't nervous. This is a big deal and a life changing event. The night before my surgery i cried uncontrollably for about 4 hrs and after that had random out bursts of crying. Its scary, but i wouldnt trade it for anything, im only a month out of surgery and ive never felt more connected to my body before.
  12. I did not have to do a clear liquid diet pre-op but unfortunately it doesnt get better after the surgery your on liquids for 2 weeks post op for healing. its hard but really worth it. and that taste in your mouth is normal, its your body digesting food. . . gastric by-pass pts experience "plastic" breath a lot after their surgery, im not too informed about that but i do know it is linked to their surgery type.
  13. I was banded on 4-4-07 and when i weighed in for my 2 week post op i had lost 13.5 lbs and was super excited !!! Since ive gone on soft foods i find myself eating "normal" things that i would before the surgery, just chewing a little more. I recently used a doctor office scale at my university to see my progess and it showed i had gained back 3 of those pounds. I have not had my first fill yet and attribute some of my ability to continue to eat regularly to that, but ive also began to excercise again walking/running 3 miles at least 4x's a week. In my mind scientifically there should be no reason for weight gain. Its really discouraging to me to see these kinds of results. I really want this to work for me, its my last resort. Does or did anyone else have this problem ?
  14. I would be inclined to think its related to poly cystic ovarian disease(PCOS). you should talk to your doctor about your problems and see if he or she would run a hormone pannel on you. Good luck !!
  15. IM SO GLAD YOU POSTED THIS !!!! Im a new bander too and im in week 3.5 and yesterday i ate 3/4 of a greek salad for dinner, and for lunch i had 4 buffalo wings !!! I was upset, i feel like this is not going to help me lose weight.
